- Ever wanted to just hit the easy button and make chording easier while playing guitar? That's what this lesson is all about: Chord hacks on guitar.
Getting used to creating chords on the guitar can be challenging; there's a lot to think about, the shapes themselves feel unnatural at first, and your fingers might not be dexterous enough yet to make the changes quickly and smoothly. And while all these things get easier with time there ARE ways you can hack the system by looking at this process a little bit differently. It's not just about practice, it's about understanding how to efficiently take advantage of the fretboard layout to make chording easier.
So sit down with Ayla as she dives into a few chord hacks that can be found on guitar and get to the next level faster!

ABOUT AYLA TESLER-MABE
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first UA-cam video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of both the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

This video is for beginners. She is teaching things that I have known since 1977 but I had to watch it anyway because her voice is so soothing and relaxing. She would be a great psychologist as well as a teacher.
I agree with you Granddad, given your age playing since 1977 l bet you fall asleep before the end of the video 👍😉🤣🤣🤣 She is certainly thinking of all would be guitar players as she's capable of showing all levels of the instrument. All the best Granddad. Don't worry I'm a great Granddad already 🤣🤣
She should also do ASMR with guitar. But ofc she is a amazing teacher and guitar player
@cheese fries I could put her voice on a loop and help me fall asleep at night
She IS a teacher. She teaches here. Maybe in person too.
She has such beautiful speaking voice and teaches with clarity
She has beautiful everything

Hi Ayla my name is Jack I've been playing the guitar now or 65-plus years I found you on UA-cam I thank God and appreciate your beginner lessons I loaned a guitar to one of my friends an A-100 Fender acoustic guitar she is almost blind now and I'm not that good of a guitar teacher so I used your instruction on UA-cam to teach my friend with thanks for your help.
Madam, you are quickly becoming one of the best guitar tutors on UA-cam - Keep up the (very) good work !
Ayla has a disarmingly straightforward approach to teaching. She seems to intuitively know how to make beginner material palatable to the beginner. The fact that she is in fact such a very talented musician doesn't hurt. Tons of credibility. Just watch in amazement as her tiny hands manhandle those big Fender necks. Add to that equation her absolutely charming smile. A natural teacher in my opinion and a pleasure to watch and listen to whether she is teaching the basics or playing at her full potential.
I’m a drummer whose hands can no longer handle the pounding of the sticks. Got a guitar and this vid is perfect timing. You have a nice teaching technique.
You are the best guitar playing teacher I've ever seen.
Diggin' the surf green acoustic Fender... I have a surf green Strat... that color just makes me think of the beach and happy surf music...
I just love how not only insightful she is, but how enthusiastic she is throughout.
Started guitar lessons last year but was interrupted by COVID. One thing my guitar teacher stressed teaching open chords is pivot on one of your fingers on certain open chords progressions. Your hacks here will certainly come in handy. Thanks.
I love how easy this girl makes it to play. Please continue with your videos they’re amazing!
Suffering from arthritis so i can't play chords like i used to, but after watching these hacks i feel like i can play them again. thanks a lot for the tutorial!!
I have the same issues.
I already know how to play, I’m just here for your pretty smile! 😎
Thanks again for motivating, doing these hacks makes easier and less frustrating to be able to play a song already and learn step by step. This is how I learnt the G when I was little, I did it just with one finger and could play some songs already. If not I would’ve gotten frustrated I think and maybe stop playing guitar. So this is a great video. Thank you 🙏🏼
Always have the best tutorials Ayla!
watching this video takes me all the way back to when i was figuring this out for myself. the most important part of this entire lesson is to make music for yourself while you learn.
Exactly what I needed, quit many years ago playing because of the bar chords! Thanks so much Ayla 🙏
It just dawned on me... You're the first woman I have ever encountered that has made my life easier, not harder...
Thanks for a great lesson!
Bruh 💀
Bruh moment
Great video. Fun to try. Love your attitude!
As always thanks for the lesson and approach
Love the woman’s touch to what seems like a male dominated profession! Don’t get me wrong, i love every guy on the planet who plays the guitar, but sooooo happy 🙃Bonnie and other gals have a strong presence! 🎸😍
This is not a woman's touch, she is a guitarist and that's all that matters, please keep your feminism away from this
@@javiercisternasnajle Fr. It really doesn’t matter who plays the guitar
@@javiercisternasnajle go do your virtue signaling in your basement Javier!
@@javiercisternasnajle Your insecurity is on full display, man.
@@javiercisternasnajle actually what u said is more feminism than Sally's comment lmao
Thank you for the lesson.
New sub here, 56, been playing for a year, know a few chords but do not understand the fretboard. I'm one of the lucky ones I suppose, large thick hands, (almost too big!!) I can stretch 7 frets easily but getting them to cooperate when theyre close together is a chore!! The fingers just seem to get in each others way, guess I lack the dexterity now... God does indeed have a sense of humor, He gives us our youth to learn all these great things, then gives us arthritis as we age so we can't do them ;-) Keep teaching and I'll (try) to learn!!! Thank you for the lesson!!
Keep at it, Brian!
Such a great instructor.
One of the best chord hacks I ever learned was how to use triads up and down the neck. Sliding from the D to an A or G using the D shape on the 7th and 9th fret instead of using the open A or G adds a great dimension to playing. It is the one I use most often.
you are awesome !! keep it up !!
Great stuff!
She is simply awesome!!
Love ur teaching so much
One of my favorite "chord hacks" is to play the fretted notes of an open A chord with my index finger.
I have always found it easier that way.seems way harder with the three fingers
Me too if you play it like this be careful or all you’ll get A6
Roll your finger . Like a slanted bar across the three.. the inside of your finger will fit perfect and the high e will still ring out.
Muting other strings unintentionally is nuisance.
What a great lesson presentation!
May all the goodness you promote be returned to you sevenfold!
Beautiful guitar too btw.
I love Ayla❤️
Great lesson.
You are a great teacher.
Nice teacher and humble

Ayla is an awesome teacher!
Wow Ayla, you look marvelous 💜⚘ and as always a great guitar lesson! PS, congrats on 800k subscribers 🎉🎊🎸
Very nice l appreciate her teaching .method
I wish Ayla was my first teacher. I had some complete duds before I finally found a decent one that really helped. Ayla would have been a great teacher to get me started on guitar though...
I'm always watching u lods. B coz i want to learn ur guitar technique.
800K!! Congrats
Thank you 😀
New hair n make up looking bang on. Contents pretty good too! 😆
I have my chords mostly down. I was surprised by the names of those simple chords, being intimidating when reading them. Then to find they are rather simple. I have been playing for awhile and find it can be helpful to go back over the simple stuff. I seem to usually pick something else up. Thanks.
Her guitars are awesome.
Your guitar sounds great
Hi there i always watch your vidios these days ..when i started my dad taught me 3 chords the first being the one finger G chord but he told me take it down to the F string and you get an G7 sounding chord still one finger then he showed me the Am chord ..at the time i thought great lol but i go on learning all the time
ayla's teaching makes learning the guitar not feel like a chore
She is beautiful her personality and happiness and smile 😊 just amazing!!! You could watch her all day!
Awesome on the guitar, knows her stuff, able to explain in an easy to understand way, and a lovely soothing voice. What more do you want from a guitar teacher?
Love Ayla
Thanks. My best one was f sharp
Love Ayla! More of her, please….
Oh man, I wish I had a beautiful and caring teacher with absolute patient just like you :(
Instead, I got a grumpy old man frustraded with life yelling at me for every mistake I made lol
Do you have a video on changing chords? What is the best way to practice changing chords? I am learning chords but when it comes to changing I am lost! Thank you for doing videos for us noobs!
That guitar looks so cool
So beautiful moment
Superb temperament for a teacher. ps. Your hair looks great 😊
I really like ua guitar 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thx mam 😌😌
Emajor to B7 is a cool hack .
Cma7 and Asus2
I don't know that you would call it a hack but after I learned basic open chords I concentrated on learning as many moveable chord forms as possible including bar chords (still learning some of them) for as much bang for your buck to move up and down the neck. This way you can have your chords in a progression somewhere near each other on the fretboard without jumping too much. Also just to look how you voice chords and there may be better ways to jump between chords -- like when I play Dm7 to G7 to CMaj7 (ii-V-I) I realized that using the bar chord form of G7 makes an easy jump to the CMaj7 just moving 2 fingers and strumming only the A string down instead of all 6 strings.
Best guitar teacher on the planet
Ayla’s fit and hair looking fancy.
Idk why I watch these sometimes as I’ve played for years but they’re just so well taught. Could always fix a bad habit I’m ignoring and I do enjoy listening to ayla teach stuff.
I love the way you talk and express , and you are very beautifull too. Specially you have a breathtaking smile .
YOU IS ANGEL
That is a very good lesson but I will suggest to learn the codes as they are because it will be difficult in the future to relearn them the proper way:))
Calpurnia was great
I forget about lesson
Just I remember your beauty,
Voice is eargaism.🥰🥰
Love the new hair. Thanks for the hacks.
It's after a long time to see you dear💝
You are just too good dear ❤️ Lord bless ❤️
Such a Babe! hope you know it. Thanks for all the great lessons and playing.
hearing ayla talking is just therapeutic :")
The flat fingered A chord mini-bar. For big hands, it is much easier. You just have to be careful how you press down to get all 5 strings ringing.
Hello ayla can you make a tutorial for how to solo on guitar using different scales please..
It's Difficult not to comment on her smile 💕💝
cool turquoise Fender
I've missed you Ayla☺️
Hey Ayla, can u tell me what guitar is that ? This is the first time ever I'm even seeing such a guitar by fender. Love your lessons tho 🥰. You're more like a friend than a teacher 😍
Looks like the California Newporter
Newporter's are much bigger and have a cutoff, this here is the Fender Malibu,Aqua
