Even with a full time job. I have also never stopped practicing for 3-5 hours a day. Its all about the dedication and putting in the extra time into doing it. 2 hours before work and 2 hours after tends to work out best. Not that bad.
I have twin 5 year Olds and my wife and I both have full time jobs. Not that easy if I want to be there for my family. I love them and had a family on purpose, I'm just saying not everyone's life is the same. I'll take an hour per day before work and a little on my lunch break. I work at guitar center. I also randomly get to jam or record music in the evenings and on weekends. Just have to make sure not to waste all my time outside of family time playing video games
Most likely. Even with kids and a job, I could have an hour each morning and one at night if I got up early.. maybe just the one in the morning, but still. That would be something.
For everyone commenting, you do not need to practice this much to be a really good guitarist, especially if you’re musically inclined, just do whatever is enjoyable for you and at the pace you feel is most comfortable enjoy the road ahead of you instead of trying to blaze through it
4h is not "that much". 6h a day of PLAYING is by far standard for anyone who wanna be/is a professional/tries to be. u can easily get 10-12h of "guitar work" if u put in there the filming+ editing+recording+ research etc. If its strict playing, usually u wont play more than 6-8h, but i can speak only for myself and a very close friend. We def had many days of 8h+ of playing. Its like any other "job" or prepping for a job. Yall been to uni ? u study all the time u awake-sleep-back to it. This no diff
@@cechichanWhy are you quoting "that much"? The op never implied it was an excess amount. All they were saying is you don't need to practice for 5 hours a day to get better, or even to get good at all. After a certain amount of playing, you aren't improving your muscle memory or building on your knowledge. The human brain can only assimilate so much knowledge, and it's the same with muscle memory. You can play for 12 hours but it doesn't mean you'll be getting 4 times better than someone who plays for 3.

Actually it only really takes two hours a day. More than that and you can burn out, unless you’re just a beginner. But prodigies and regular intermediates alike are best off practicing in moderation and playing plenty.
I use to do this but recently changed to actually practice things instead of just play and it exponentially increased how I play. Especially with genre exploration and learning from different genres
Honestly God this is a great video and I just love watching guitar videos. Even though I don't even play that much it inspires me to practice but I just don't have the time due to whatever
When I was a kid I used to get home from school at about 3.30pm and play until 1am - unstructured, just doing whatever. Writing I guess, noodling, trying to work out how to play things on a record (this is before UA-cam). Over the years you slowly end up having fewer hours in the day for playing. But any time spent playing is worth it. I do miss those carefree days though.
