Not surprised Linus is unable to hear the difference between balanced and un-balanced audio, as the main advantage of balanced is that it's able to drive more power. It does additionally reduce interference, however interference isnt usually much of an issue anyways
@@HyviaVideoitaMansenlale it does reduce interference. specifically crosstalk, as it makes both drivers completely seperate with their own amps and dac's.

The balanced 4.4 connector only provides more power (at your preferred volume level) and less electromagnetic interference. The 4.4 balanced output puts out twice as much voltage and in theory reduces crosstalk/distortion. In practice you won’t hear distortion from single end either. The balanced is just there to provide more power if the single end doesn’t get loud enough.
using a regular or a balanced output does not change the quality of the sound itself but clear the signal off any of the noise that shouldn't be there, the electrical bleed you said you're surprised to hear as if on an old motherboard and any other interference. It just becomes as close to just a pure signal without any unwanted crap mixing in, despite being analogue instead of digital, as it gets.

really sad that sony disabled the option to switch the back button to the right instead of left (which is supposed to be a stock android feature, so sony must have explicitly disabled it). AFAIK this is the biggest reason why linus does not switch to an xperia phone.
So, while I think the phone is not a very good product, what Linus failed to sell (or hear/understand) is that Moondrop isn't selling just "a phone with a 3.5 jack", they're selling a phone with an actually good dac/amp combo. You might not care if you use regular IEMs or basic dirty buds but for the people who have hard to drive headphones or picky IEMs? That is, to my knowledge quite literally, never seen before.
@@Nate1994atbh if you're just looking for a headphone jack and don't care about performance, you might be better off with an xperia 10 phone than this one and they go for roughly the same price. I had to mount a hardware rack to a concrete wall for my business- so it is nice to see other entrepreneurs going through expansion too! Enjoy your vacation - you guys all deserve one! Cheers
Balanced outputs are kinda redundant to be honest. Balanced cables are supposed to keep noise from an antenna effect in the cable from getting into your signal, but anything under 10-15 ft isn't really going to pick up much noise, if any at all. The reason balanced cables are used for microphones (XLR for example) is because a microphone signal is incredibly weak and usually over longer distances between transducer and amplifier, and over those distances, a lot of noise can be picked up in the cable. When that happes, as the mic signal gets boosted, you want the cable to work it's magic and neutralize the noise, otherwise the noise gets amplified proportional to the mic signal. One thing worth noting though, is plugging in non balanced headphones into a balanced jack yeilds a louder listening experience.

you can't
you have to charge the phone
so the constant insertion and removal makes it a pain to keep track of and is definitely something that made me seek another solution
he would benefit greatly from something like a Fiio BTR5, little DAC that works over a wire (acting like a USBC to 3.5mm adapter) as well as over bluetooth, meaning he can use his high quality IEMs as bluetooth buds for on the go

I think what would have been better to do is partner with an actual phone manufacturer, take their best phone and then make it audiophile capable like making an S24 Ultra with a 4.4mm headphone jack. Cause this is a product I'd love to have if the actual phone aspect was good as well. I carry around both my S22 Ultra and FiiO M11 Plus and it does get annoying carrying both.
I feel for you. The M11 is a thick boi. I think Sony would be our last hope to make something like that. Samsung went full steam ahead and removed the headphone jack.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz Sony will do that if there is a market for it, but be minded it will cost an arm and leg for that. @@MarvelousXT you don't know Sony. Sony never follows trends. Maybe you're too young but there was a time where hi-res was popular. The balanced 4.4 connector only provides more power (at your preferred volume level) and less electromagnetic interference. Linus... Have you heard of X/Twitter? For real tho, thats a bold claim to say just by looking at it... :v
The 4.4 balanced output puts out twice as much voltage and in theory reduces crosstalk/distortion. In practice you won’t hear distortion from single end either. The balanced is just there to provide more power if the single end doesn’t get loud enough.
The wallpaper is not really to my taste but I love that they girl is listening to music on the Moondrop Phone with Moondrop headphones
using a regular or a balanced output does not change the quality of the sound itself but clear the signal off any of the noise that shouldn't be there, the electrical bleed you said you're surprised to hear as if on an old motherboard and any other interference. It just becomes as close to just a pure signal without any unwanted crap mixing in, despite being analogue instead of digital, as it gets.

Sony phone still has a headphone jack...
really sad that sony disabled the option to switch the back button to the right instead of left (which is supposed to be a stock android feature, so sony must have explicitly disabled it). AFAIK this is the biggest reason why linus does not switch to an xperia phone.
And the they're very expensive but they also have card slots last time I checked so that's a definite positive.

Now I see I did a good decision to keep my old lg g7 thing (with quad dac).
