Been waiting your full review on the Moondrop MIAD for months. Glad that you take your time with the phone for more depth experience. The fact that Moondrop support the phone is a relief (should've come with android 14 in the first place but still), some brand don't even give updates to their phones. Hopefully it's a sign Moondrop gonna keep on going with their phone venture. I was hyped up when Moondrop announced this phone, the spec on paper aren't bad but after some more thoughts I'd rather skip for now.... especially since it's still $600 on Tokeped 🤣
Haha yeah man I'm glad to be able to review this phone after all those updates, and bringing it to SIAS as well made me appreciate it even more Lots of hope with this phone but yeah I mean prices in Indo now isn't very good, best way is to buy it from China and take it home cause it'll be free of charge to register IMEI
Nice review! For the screen protector situation, I had to replace mine because of the bubbles so I'm actually using screen protectors for realme 12 Pro+ 5G as a substitute since they both have the similar screen (both 6.7" and curved, at least based on the specs). While I cannot say for certain if it's perfect, so far it has worked well enough for me.
I hope they commit to making a better phone DAC, the kind of phone they themselves would want to use. Honestly wouldnt mind, if they increased the price to 500 for the next phone, as long as they include better camera, specs, screen, software and design.
the exact thoughts I have after watching this review, would rather it being $500-$600 and have a better phone, atleast they are doing something many are not which gives me some hope they will come out with a higher spec'd one.
Haha we'll have to wait and see but I definitely would love to see at least a Dimensity 8000 series used Or a better camera would be nice as well, ah yeah and a flat screen haha
@@namedkenn Flat or curved doesn't matter much They just need a 1.5K screen, anything above the Snapdragon 7+ gen 3/Dimensity 8300,a camera set like what Motorola used on the Edge 50 line to start and a bigger battery + IP 68 rating It would be a killer.
First time hearing about this device and it seems pretty cool. Might not be a daily driver for most, but reminds me of the LG V30, and seems like a pretty cool device, def something fresh and different. Also, you got a new subscriber. Loved the video overall.
I have no experience with DACs but I love being able to listen to high quality music with my headphones. This would be a good purchase if it was cheaper since I don't care about camera quality. It could also be smaller or even use an IPS display if it meant it would be half the price. Such a big screen with 120hz seems overkill when all other specs are mediocre at best
Been using a CMF phone 1 with external DACs as a makeshift version of what this phone does. Would love to see more phones like this from Moondrop & others
If they make a new generation of this Moondrop Phone, I'll probably consider buying one, because I'm planning to buy a DAP.. I'll just get by with my phones now. 😂😂
Deffo could of added a better camera in a revision They could make the phone a little thicker so the camera and headphones jack don't stand out full that space with a larger battery pack. AMOLED 1080p will be fine. Don't need 2k or 4k screens they drain battery and most people have a larger 4k TV . Just minor changes IR blaster USB dDAC ability isn't a must but then would remove need for any other device. Possible wireless charging as an option again not really needed
@@123benley I can agree Here's something, the battery could be above 5000mAh or above 6000mAh. The screen can be 1.5K with the stuff Miad 01 lacks like widevine L1 and HDR 10+. The camera system could feature a good 50mp main,an ultrawide above 8mp,a telephoto and good frontal camera and make all record in 4k 60fps. The chipset could up from the Dimensity 7050 to a better chip like the Snapdragon 7+ gen 3/8s gen 3 or the Dimensity 8300/8400 Make it has GSM from the start with the Google apps already in like other smartphones with Android 15 out of the box. They can keep some of the stuff on that already has like the USB 3.1 and the CS43131 dual dac,of course with a little more power than the Miad 01.
Moondrop miad 01 is basically an entry phone with moondrop dawn pro dongle built-in. Miad doesnt even have a volume knob. Onkyo did it better with their granbeat. If you notice the miad thickness is unusual near the camera area which is all the dongle in it. Compare it with the onkyo granbeat which is thicker and equal across it. Its also have volume knob.
Speakers are poor also the mic . Poor network connectivity . I think the are in the experiencing phase. I hope that they fix those issues It is aimed to appeal the audiophiles but they need an excellent quality audio from every outlet there is ( earphones, IEM, Headphones, wireless audio, speakers and mics ).
This could replace my phone as an audiophile oriented device, it is strange the camera is subpar compared to a LG V20-V30.. those old models offer a better balance of features but the components of the mobo seem to have issues as time pass by. If only the MIAD01 had replaceable batteries..
Most music centered things are wired unfortunately. Not many mobiles exist with decent speakers. For that you have dedicated speakers and HiFi shame it cannot do USB DAC out that would of covered the Dap part of most dongle Dacs maybe 02 can do that
Did you import it? Don't think it is released here. It reminds me (a little bit) about LG V series. Unfortunately Moondrop designed this as kinda mid-range phone :(

Hey Kenneth, this is the first time I've watched one of your videos on tech and really liked your presentation and the overall description of your review. Based on your assumptions, do you think this phone could be used as a daily driver and won't get redundant hardware -wise after a year or two?

Never show this phone to your spanish speaking friends. MIAD01 is basically the spanish word "miado" which is an adjective for something that has been peed on.

Well at least theyre honest the camera works lol
Haha yeah right 😆
unlike lg, this one is more like of a dap than a phone

Haha unfortunately no I’m not in China and I try to think about the audience who’s going to buy the phone abroad
depends how you look at this phone, if you look it as dap its worth the experience, but if you look it as a phone its not worth buying it
Yeah you have to value the DAP capabilities first and foremost for it to be really worth it
