    I just want you all to know that this video is good, but completely outdated. Everything he is using has been changed or nerfed. The siege equipment has been put on a different tech than the CP tech, the Craven unique skill forced labor has been nerfed, the weapon skill has been nerfed, you can't do the probe exploit anymore, the infinity shield only gives 10% health now, the tax law now gives -20 approval... The intruder ship is still strong. It's still a good strategy but it's been nerfed hard and I think that is a good thing.

      @@alfalnirthewolfofashenvall9281 The basic logick is like a starcraft 2 build queue. Each race has different strategies and FIDSI income or bonuses, so you just figure out how to get the most FIDSI early on and that will give you options later. Of course you hve toi learn how all these things work together, so playing protoss zerg and terrain to know the strengths and weaknesses are good, but you will need a better grasp of the mechanics of one over all.
      The craver strategy is pretty obvious. Use slaves and exploits to get high industry, use high industry to make large military and take over minor civs and expand yourself with colonization tech. This is to counter act the fact that multiple civs often are fighting a single craver at a time, to ensure they don't expand too much as they cahn't do diplomacy peace deals.

    On critique on your battle tactics. The real reason to pick either turtle or shields card is that one is a long range tactic and one is a short range tactic. Look at the enemy ships. Often they will have a lower efficiency at long vs short range. Use the tactics to position your ship in the range where the enemy is weaker. You usually block more damage with the shield staying at long range against strong short range kinetic fleets than you do using the turtle.

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому +4

      Great comment! And yes, I agree with you for the larger battles with fleets of varied attack types. However, I have found that the defense bonus provided by Turtle and PtS outweighs the inefficiency penalties in the early game.
      I plan on doing a video about late game battle tactics with ship allocation into specific flotillas and how the ranging system works.

      @@4XAlchemist Hi, did you get to creating that video? I would be really interested in it. You mentioned a combat guide. What I am most interested in is how different lanes interact with each other. I have a theory, once there is only one side left in a lane, the ships continue moving the lowest distances on the cards, and shooting into other lanes as if they were in the same lane, but using their current lane distance (so if they end up on medium in upper lane and that was the shortest distance in upper lane) they fire to other lanes as if they were medium. This might be wrong though.

    Awesome guide, and I'm admiring your love for the Cravers.
    I watched your PVP against the Lumeris and I was wondering if you ever abandon planets to keep happiness in balance. I know it goes against the conquest victory, but I'm finding it a bit difficult to keep places happy once I start getting 20 or more systems.

    I kinda wish Cravers different names/artwork for their systems upgrades.
    Feels weird seeing some of the stuff. Like the +15 science and +15 gold upgrade. "Luxury hotels and VR gaming~." Yah... Cuz that sounds like something cravers want, lol. Keep the same effects but, maybe rename it, "evil house of bad people mwahaha" and a picture of a legion of doom palace or something. Same abilities, same tech tree, but different art and names to fit the Craver theme, y'know?

    Hello, I'm considering picking up Endless Space II and discovered your videos by Reddit. Thank you so much for producing these - you have a great, clear voice and as a person who has played Endless Space I but not II I appreciated the explanations and turn-by-turn feedback.
    If you don't mind fielding a general question, I'm currently playing Stellaris. I enjoy the game but I long for a more traditional turn-based game (I prefer turn-based over real time) does Endless Space II fit the mold? Thanks!

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому +6

      Thank you and absolutely. I also played a TON (an embarrassing amount really) of ES1, and ES2 is a wonderful successor. There are certainly still some kinks to work out (the game was officially released only a week ago), but I have been having ludicrous amounts of fun with it so far.
      I've never played Stellaris, but, from what I have read, ES2 is much more long-term strategy and less real-time tactics (although the revamped battle system certainly is deep and complex if you strive to understand all its mechanics).
      I hope that answers your question.

    • @janiccain

    Hey, very good guide. I have a few questions:
    in the mid-late game where you reach your over colonization threshold, do you continue to take systems and deal with the unhappiness in some way or do you start evacuating the fully depleted systems?
    also is it better to focus on depleting one planet at a time in the system or just split the population evenly between the colonized planets in the system so that they each take longer to deplete?
    Thanks

  • @KermodeBear
    @KermodeBear 4 роки тому +2

    The strategy of using the rogue ship no longer applies. The game no longer allows you to attack with it or combine it into a fleet with other vessels. )o`:
    Edit: Turns out I was incorrect - once the ship is turned in for the mission you can use it. I was trying to use it BEFORE turning it in for a mission by just blockading people.

    Quick question: How do you weight the importance of happiness, particularly early game? I'm often torn between the content bonus from an early Toys for Boys or the happiness-penalizing bonus of Super Taxes.
    Sorry if you talk about this in other videos, but it's got me really conflicted in my early games.

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому +1

      That is an interesting and important question. For the EARLY game (turns 1-10 at least) I like the extra dust from Super Taxes to do ship modifications and exploit the probe refilling. But, I probably should transition to TFB at some point to get the food and influence bonuses to spur early game growth. Fortunately for the Cravers, they already have a bunch of FIDS multipliers (slavery and undepleted planets), so those early happiness multipliers aren't as critical.
      This is definitely something that i want to play around with more to see if I use it better. Thanks for the comment!
      -David

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому +1

      The Empire-wide happiness bonus to dust and science isn't working. You'll notice if you enact Toys for Boys that your science will go down 10% even if your empire moves from content to happy and it says it has a bonus.
      For that reason Super Tax is much stronger early game, also since dust is very important early on to hurry colonies for most races.
      In general I find happiness to be pretty unimportant until later game, when the +25% F and Influence really make a difference in your ecstatic systems. -James

      Awesome, thanks to you both for your responses. I found your videos today and love 'em; excited for the next ones.
      You probably don't take requests, but I love the Horatio and am having a hard time getting them up and running quickly. The ship production penalty hurts and, as your UE video mentioned, their Mediterranean start hurts the XII benefits.
      Whenever you get to it, I'm really looking forward to a Horatio start video.

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому +1

      I have tried so hard to make Horatio work... I love the gene splicing mechanic, but they are just so weak early. Additionally, they are bugged pretty hard. Once you hit 50 Horatio population, they get free conversion from food to industry, which I think is going to be patched soon. They are on my list though!

    i think you should convert one pop to 300force.1 newly conquered systems always lose their first few pops because of rebellion,why not convert .drain few pops on overcrowded home world can also delay speed of depletion ,make time for colonizing techs complete.depleted system efficiency is super low

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  7 років тому

      That is a great idea! I usually don't sacrifice on main planets unless they are full or nearly full because the FIDS produced by a driven slave is just so valuable. I never thought of using it as a way to avoid the initial population death though. Do you think the population would be removed before one starved to death, or do you think the system would lose 2 pop on that first turn? It is something that I would have to look into.

    • @qq800as
      @qq800as 7 років тому

      4X Alchemist actually I always convert 2 pops on newly conquered planet,if food production is below zero ,it always lose pop。except early games ,new conquered planet always lose more than 2pops, so it is pretty safe to convert pop whenever possible。I dont think main planet pop convert is that bad ,cravers on non depleted planet has base*2.5 production ,so craver pop increase really fast
