    Thank you for going back to Endless Space 2 content, it is good to see you back.
    You can see constellations by zooming way out in normal view.
    Also scavenged ramscoop is the most broken thing in the game, the +25% distance stacks, putting 3 of these on a carrier with a seeker hero makes the fleet zoom through a huge galaxy.

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  3 роки тому +2

      I've been experimenting with that. The Ramscoop is indeed ridiculous, thanks for calling it out. You don't need to have many extra movement points for the +25% to become better than the 6 movement big engine. I love the Sophon Seeker hero with the ramscoop

I do hope you continue to make content for ES 2 regardless of whether it's these 30 turn guides, fun challenges like the 1 city game or even more multiplayer games with your brother or other players I'm game for them all

    Great to see you came back! Quick tip for knowing if some nodes are in or out of your constellation ( as in 1:05:15 )
    If you zoom out, and mouse over your constellation name, you'll see that every node and starlink from the constellation will start to shimmer, letting you know if they give you the constellation control bonus or not.

    @4X Alchemist : I am curious where you are getting your information on over colonization penalties for the Hissho. The tool tip you hovered over only mentions a penalty to the Kii cost of future colonies. It makes no mention of a 5% reduction to FIDSI and I cannot find that information anywhere else.
    I am not saying it doesn't exist, but curious where you discovered this. Was it from over colonizing and seeing it identified on all your systems? Or does it mention this penalty somewhere else in the tool tips?

    • @thenoseplays2488
      @thenoseplays2488 3 роки тому +1

      So I think I found it. According to the online wiki the -5% FIDS penalty is mentioned when you mouse over the "resource recoverer" faction trait. It applies to all systems you own ... And stacks -5% for each system you are above the cap.
      I did not notice this in my previous playthrough and it is curious to me that it is not mentioned in the tool tip when you mouse over the over colonization cap. Mousing over the cap only mentions that Kii costs will increase higher and higher as you exceed the cap, but does not mention the -5% FIDS penalty.
      On the plus side it does not seem to penalize Influence....so there is that. I will have to rethink my strategy with this faction now as I am pretty sure I had discovered a semi-exploit in one of my playthroughs where I could colonize systems for "free" without paying Kii. This lead me to consider a rapid expansionist strategy as if the only penalty for being above the cap was higher Kii costs and I wasn't paying Kii anyways...what did I care about the cap?!?!,...but that may not work as intended if there are indeed % penalties that stack up. I will have to experiment with it and see.

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  3 роки тому +2

      @@thenoseplays2488 Yes you found it. I think their intent with this really hard FIDSI penalty was to force HIssho to be "tall". They get the absolutely amazing mines, but have to give up dreams of major expansion.
      I found a better explanation on an ES2 wiki, as the first time I played them I had no idea about it either.

    • @thenoseplays2488
      @thenoseplays2488 3 роки тому +1

      @@4XAlchemist
      I think this would make more sense if each system set to "Ancestral Reverence" was not counted against the over colonization cap. There is a tool tip somewhere that mentioned "AR" systems are not counted for something associated with a penalty, but I don't think it was in reference to over colonization penalties.
      I am not sure how it works exactly atm though. I suspect the -5% will stack for over colonization, even on systems running "AR", but I will test it out and verify my findings this week if possible.
      Edit - it is "hatched from home" law that reduces penalties for running ancestral reverence on systems. I knew it mentioned it somewhere.

    that +1 is actually +1.5 per pop bc of dictatorship, at 1:24:05 when upgrading the hero lvl. dictatorship increase the Governors output by +1.5x so - 1 = 1.5 3=4.5 exc.. this is the main reason this Race and Horatio are my favorites bc of the Dictorship factors of the hero is so important.

    Happy to see you are back! I learned a ton from your videos when I first got ES2.
    Hissho are my favorite faction, so I wanted to point out a couple things (might edit, just on turn 8 watching now)
    First, because you used the mining probe on a planet that you also colonized right away, completing the colonization destroys the probe. Would it have been better to probe a different planet, or to hold off on colonizing until the probe refreshed?
    Second, You mention the southern system is not good enough to colonize, you know about Hissho outposts right? You can leave it as an outpost and it will still send back part of the fids and the strategic resources. (I prefer to play Hissho as a one city challenge type thing so I do this a lot) You can have a few fully colonized systems without a penalty. But you can also keep them as outposts to save your kei and get some resources

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  3 роки тому +4

      Thanks for the comments! I've been playing Hissho more this week and actually love the One City Challenge [OCC] gameplay. It kept me engaged enough to finish a game, which I haven't done in ES2 in years.
      The early probe in turns 1-30 don't make a big enough impact I think to worry about optimizing too much, although you're right when possible I shouldn't put it in then colonize. Remember each planet adds tons of extra bonuses so that's a generally better strategy just to colonize ASAP. The probes as you know become insane late game. I won with over 100k science/turn on my one system.
      Regarding the outpost, I think it's a good trick for getting resources (and also influence for unique planets, which can be good early game). The main tradeoff is food in your main system. Usually I'm not so resource starved that I want to slow down my population growth. Hissho mining and many other benefits scale with home system population, so getting that to maximum is key. Then using the sacrifices (especially manpower sacrifice) become very strong. Once you're there, I don't hate the idea of keeping some outposts up for mining, but once you're there, the mining probes are much better, IMO.
      Thanks for the comment!

      When you play Hissho as only one city style, how do you handle healing and upgrading your fleets far away from your home system? Ori bots make repairing a non issue in very late game, but until then I find it very hard to upgrade or repair fleets without setting up a few colonies all over the map to act like depots for this

I picked up Supremacy and Penumbra rather recently, so learning the ins and outs of the races is nice, though I wish I could find better explanations of the other mechanics that come with those updates. Vaulters was far simpler to understand both in faction mechanics and extra game mechanics, but now that I have the others it's more of a problem.

    Power of positive thinking. Binge watch your old content and you make a return with a new ES2 vid. What do you make of the hacking mechanic now that you tried it out for a few games?

    • @4XAlchemist
      @4XAlchemist  3 роки тому +2

      I think it's a lot of fluff for not much real interaction. It can be powerful, particularly the ability to incite revolutionaries on the home world, but even then it's just kind of boring. A few clicks, wait for 20 turns, then make some pirates. I even had an opposing homeworld wiped out by those pirates once, but it all felt very unsatisfying. Like "where did their planet go? Oh, I guess it was those pirates that I never saw and will clear out when my armies finally make it there"
      From their hero abilities I gather that the Umbrals are big into hacking, which makes me less enthusiastic to try them. I think overall it's a miss as a mechanic and the game would be better without it. That's a first impression though.

    • @unclephil6969Pajeet
      @unclephil6969Pajeet 3 роки тому

      @@4XAlchemist I have to echo that. It seems like busy work in a game where I already have a lot to pay attention to. Unfortunately there's no way to disable just the hacking mechanic so I had to disable the DLC as a whole. I am still interested to see how you pilot the UC.

    • @thenoseplays2488
      @thenoseplays2488 3 роки тому +1

      @@4XAlchemist Your first impression is not wrong in my opinion. The UC are sorta interesting to play because they can use hacking more than any other faction, but otherwise hacking feels very tacked on, unintuitive, and pointless save the broken invasion trick for the other races, and even that is only useful when you are behind.

    I normally, as soon as I get my quest with the 2 ships done, instantly change those ships and get some engine modules and even more manpower and start raiding colonies to gain resources to sell on the market, use and maintain kei up.

    just quit my first blind game with these guys - explosive start in the beginning but then I slowly fell increasingly behind and I couldn't work out why. A friend told me these guys were a conquest faction because they don't have approval to lose from overcolonization... I guess he was joking.

    • @spacecadet2172

      It’s hard to follow because Amplitude keeps making massive changes to the game via patches that upends the whole game. They nerfed a lot of the Hisho from how it used to be (not to mention things like movement, game-wide). But Hisho can still expand a lot if you switch to federation gov and hire lots of heroes from the 2 ruling parties. You also can expand via level 4 upgrade and autonomous administration. Finally, the Hisho 25% FIDSI law helps offset the 5% per overcolonized quite a bit. Somebody posted a table and you can go quite a few colonies over threshold with this and basically break even. But you will need to keep an enemy handy to harvest for kei, as that law costs more kei every turn as you expand.

      I tried this once while preparing for the guide and feel like you don't really need it. I enjoyed getting the extra Keii and free war declarations from my militarist law and being very aggressive in the midgame. I would do it in certain starting situations where you have a bunch of REALLY hard planets to colonize, but often times it's just 2-3 techs that you would normally be getting as you climb up the tech tree in science to unlock more curiosities and exploration anyway.
      Definitely a good trick and worth trying out though. Especially if you have huge lavas/toxics/barrens in home system it will be worth it.
      Because your home system's industry is so high, climbing up the sci tech tree to get terraforming to maximize home system population is one of my major midgame pushes, so I haven't found it too distracting to go there with my techs.

    I could not get this off the ground. I ended up with almost no Keii, negative gold and losing my ships constantly to the AI. I lost 6 ships to 3 pirate ships and it took me like 15 turns to build those ships. Just deleted my game and giving up on this race.
