    You can not apply for a DTV in Thailand, you have to apply at a Thai Embassy or Consulate.
    It is valid for five years, so on entry into Thailand you will get 180 days stamp, you can extend this once for another 180 days. Then after 360 days you can leave and re-enter Thailand to repeat the whole process again.

      You can also leave before 180 days and re-enter to get a new 180 days stamp because it’s a five year MULTIentry visa.

      @PloyandJayinThailand Look at this video The TRUTH About Thailand's New DTV Visa on RW4U (retired working for you) website. He has interview with deputy director who manages the different Visa's and defines clearly the DTV

    They should make marriage visa multi year(or cancel when divorce) so less crowded at the immigration. Especially people who done it many times. 😉😉😉😉.

    The 60 day Visa is the same as the old one. Just one less trip to immigration to extend. STILL only 90 days total.

    Depends how DTV is implemented in practice. If I understand it correctly, two options for younger retirees, similar to what you are thinking about, could be:
    (1) 5yr DTV - come "out of retirement" by setting up on youtube and calling oneself a digital nomad or getting a friends business overseas to write a remote worker contract, where one can live in Thailand 363 days per year (or thereabouts) with multi entry and no 800k in Thai bank account. Total cost over 5 years 10k baht and some travel we were going to do anyway.
    (2) current retirement "visa" - where one can live in Thailand for 365 days for 1900 per annum plus lets call it 3800 for multi entry plus "lose" say 30k a year by having 800k in low yield Thai bank account. Total "cost" over 5 years = (1900+3800+30000)*5 = 178,5000 baht + admin burden of annual extensions.
    This apparent visa "arbitrage" may be reduced by how they implement the DTV in practice or maybe the mooted retirement visa changes in September may equalise things more again.

      Great insights, but I don't think it is enough to set up a UA-cam channel and call yourself a digital nomad especially if you don't have a professional portfolio to prove that + you need to set up a overseas company. If something sounds too easy and good to be true, it doesn't usually exist 😂I don't also think that many retirees have an online business, besides many retirees use visa agents, and they might not be interested in making border bounces every half year.

      I think you will find that the DTV visa allows for the initial 180 days plus ONE extension of 180 days in the five year period, NOT, a continued 180 + 180 + 180 during the 5 years.

    • @PloyandJayinThailand
      @PloyandJayinThailand  Місяць тому

      @@hassaman5 I think you are wrong because DTV is a multientry visa.

    • @PloyandJayinThailand
      @PloyandJayinThailand  Місяць тому

      @@hassaman5 As long as you leave country before your initial 180 days expires, you can re-enter and get a new 180 days stamp. That is how multientry visas works. I had non O-A multientry visa which is ”one year long stay visa”. However, I stayed in Thailand almost TWO years with one border bounce because of multientry visa.

      You get 60 days visa exemption showing your passport which you can extend 30 days IN Thailand. If 90 days is enough, you don't need to apply for a visa.

    Great video. I want to come to Thailand on the dtv visa with my wife and 2 year old son.Will they all come under the one dtv visa?
    also do I have to pay the 10k baht every time I re-enter ?

    • @PloyandJayinThailand
      @PloyandJayinThailand  Місяць тому +1

      I am not an expert, but I assume that your wife and son can come under your DTV visa. Ask your embassy. DTV is multientry visa, so you pay 10k baht when you apply it and another 10k baht if you want to extend it another 180 days IN Thailand. You should not pay any extra every time you re-enter.

    Hi Ploy and Jay, with this new visa, can you now, just come to Thailand, and before the 60 days is finished, can you go to your imergration office and apply for a marriage or retirement visa, or do I have to still apply in the uk first?

    • @PloyandJayinThailand
      @PloyandJayinThailand  Місяць тому

      Hard to answer because we don’t know your whole situation. I think you should first decide which visa you want and then find out is it better to apply in your home country or in Thailand. Besides, there are non O and non O-A retirement visas and O-A you can only apply in your home country.

      @PloyandJayinThailand I am going to get a non o visa, for retirement first, in the uk and then after get a marriage visa, that was the plan, but now with this 60 days visa, I'm wondering if I can just go to Thailand and apply there at my local immigration office for a marriage visa? Does that make sense, now you know my situation.
