Dr. Strange's line, "Didn't you chart in the 60s?" is more likely referencing a musical group called the Fantastic Four that did chart in the 60s, which is a nod to the 2016 Doctor Strange when he was able to name a song, its band, and the year it charted while performing surgery.
I loved the fact that Wanda completely wrecked the Illuminati, it was the first time a villain brutally murdered a bunch of hero’s in such a unique ways. It really felt like something you’d read in a comic. The evil dead styled B-rated horror elements and comedy really made this movie fantastic!

It reminded me of the start of the 2021 suicide squad where everyone was built up to be interesting characters, and then they just killed all of them in horrific ways
The Illuminati’s death scene reminded me a lot of the Guardians dying in Invincible. Such cool characters all gone in such short brutal moments. Was done super well from Marvels end.
there were times where i genuinely was scared or creeped out by wanda’s powers, and those jump scares really did get me haha. i thought this movie was a fun watch! and i’m glad recent movies have been like that
I usually avoid horror movies bcs of the jumpscares. However, luckily those jumpscares in mom didnt get me at all😂. I dunno maybe i watched it as a superhero movie n not a horror movie. So i was excited n full of curiosity most of the time during the movie lol
Definitely never jumped or got scared in this movie. Although I've never gotten scared or jumpy from actual horror movies. This was so tame compared to some of those so it never came off as horror to me. Still loved the movie though.
Mysterio’s use of 616 was not a coincidence, it’s highly likely Guterman did research about the possibility of multiple universes and came across Erik Selvig’s hypothesis (which was written on his blackboard in Thor the Dark World).
The scene with three-eyed Strange where he admitted any falling-off-a-building-dream any Strange had was his doing was such a small detail but it was super chilling and interesting. He was literally universe-hopping, killing Stranges across universes at an effort for “prevention” (stopping more incursions)
The fact that Charles was announced with the 97 cartoon theme and in his iconic yellow chair was THE highlight for me in this entire movie. THAT was my childhood right there. I know it's probably not meant to be that exact Charles but I choose to think it was the same as the one I grew up with in the 90's. I'm still internally crying about that.
It could be that one. Because in 90's Spiderman, there's a crossover episode (Secret Wars I think?) where Storm, FF4, and Spiderman get sent to another planet. Spiderman also had a X-men centric crossover. The problem though is that universe had Captain America, Captain Carter did not exist
I don't know if this counts but I remember Sinister Strange mentioning how he killed his variants, by falling off a tall building. Yet later, he was met with the same fate of falling from the Sanctum Sanctorum (even though the spear killed him but still).
Yes! And I wonder if having the 3rd eye, he could have easily seen his own death coming, and yet, his own arrogance killed him by never peering into this scene, and irony killed him since he was killing off all his other selves throwing them to their deaths and later he gets his own.
Things I thought of while watching Multiverse Of Madness was how the yellow light of the Ultron sentries could mean the mind stone is their power source and when Mr.Fantastic portals in the portal looks like the tesseract which did hold the space stone so maybe they're incorporating the energy of the space stone with some teleportation technology
Many Marvel movies have villains who were "good" and had a tragic origin story making them turn heel. The only difference with Wanda was we were there along for the ride, so it hits a lot harder than a character that has only just been introduced.

When Strange said “Didn’t you guys chart in the 60s”, he was talking about an actual band called The Fantastic Four who were around in the 60s and did chart.
Fun fact a 60's Soul group from Detroit called "Fantastic Four" they had a hit called "The Whole World is a Stage" in 1967 peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard R&B chart in 1967. It also charted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 63.
Very interesting that Doctor Strange is now cursed, considering his "photographic" memory. He had to have read through a few parts of the Darkhold to find what he was looking for. So now the Darkhold and its secrets exist in Strange's mind?
The horror elements, the character development of Wanda to scarlet witch, and the cgi made this movie amazing. I would like to see more stuff like this in future marvel films.
One thing I’d say about the plot is that Wong sees Strange as reckless, yet when Wanda threatens the lives of a few sorcerers Wong give up the location when it could potentially destroy the multiverse. I couldn’t see Strange or the Ancient One doing the same thing. It would’ve made more sense for Wanda to enchant him or extract it from his mind.
That moment reminded me of the dilemmas Thanos presented our heroes with in Infinity War. Self-sacrifice is key to a superhero’s job, but they were all unwilling to sacrifice someone else, which led to reality-warping tragedy.
@@DR.DisInfect I wouldnt call it a plot hole more of an underdeveloped point. Its easy to say that wong wouldnt have given up the temples location, based off of how he treats Strange as reckless. But this may the first time Wong has ever been in this type of position.

Reed Richard's portal tech looks like the ones used in the TVA, Nathaniel Richards (Kang the Conqueror) is a descendant of Reed, so i'm guessing the tech he used for the TVA was based on Reed's portals.
The difference, I feel, between when most break the rules and when the ''villain'' breaks them are that the villain seems to be the only one gaining from their actions. Others like Dr.Strange usually are at least intending for countless others to gain from their ''rebellious path''.
@@vangoghhome740 Thanos' behaviour in Endgame wanting to reset the entire universe showed that he didn't care about half the population, he just cared about being right I.E. his ego always came first

I just love the personality of Doctor Strange. This arrogance, ego, narcissism, need to control everything and be the best one is just * chef's kiss *. Is funny how Dr. Strange ask wanda about the Multiverse when he has his own key or gate to any multiverse, in the first Dr. Strange movie, Mordo told Strange in Karma Taj during training "Mastery of the sling ring is essential to the mystic arts. They allow us to travel throughout the Multiverse" knowing how curious Strange is why he didn't visit or do any research.
Someone mentioned Strange has a photographic memory and that got me thinking...maybe he has that third eye as Darkhold was destroyed in all Dimensions and his Mind is the only repository left where it exists. Maybe the 3rd eye is Cthon's remaining influence? Also interesting, 616 Strange still uses 'forbidden/Dark' magic like the others but where the others use it for personal gain (albeit for "Greater Good"), Strange has consistently used it to help others (not personal gain).
I think that's what makes Strange different from his counterparts but nobody brings it up. 616 Strange will not sacrifice friends for the greater good, he'd rather find another way or take the trouble head on
@@kingslim2870 I agree. It actually hurts me how easily he's gone in just one trick. The amount of respect given to him is something higher than what they portrayed here. Well, I can;t really complain as the movie is based on Wanda + Strange. Just a bit disappointed tho :')

The tech Mr. Fantastic uses when he appears could be a precursor to the travel tech TVA agents use in Loki. Knowing Reed's and Kang's connection, it's a possibility
I dont agree that Strange is a hypocrite. Breaking the rules to save the world and breaking them to get your sons and kill their original mothers are very different.
Dr Stranges line about "in the grand calculus of the multiverse..." also reminds me of Kisielius saying "Tiny momentary specks within an indifferent universe" to defend his killing of innocent people.
Mordo spiking the tea is a nod to Dr Strange 1 where Strange asks "what's in the tea" after the ancient one shows him the cosmos. Can't believe you missed that one.
40:31. I think the reason he made different choice was because he realized the downfall of all the strangest was the fact that they had to be the one in control which is another thing that gets brought up every single time he meets someone that met another strange. "You always have to be the one holding the knife". He realizes that he can't be the one that's in control of every situation he has to trust other people to do it. That's what makes him different from the other stranges and it's probably something that professor X saw in him which is why he more or less let him continue with his mission instead being hellbent on killing him like Mordo
The fire that Strange uses on Gargantos was green making it Asgardian magic like Loki and Sylvie. I think this shows how much Strange has been studying all kinds if magic
I love the concept of dreamwalking I can't stop thinking about all the horrible dreams my multiverse variants had to go through, so I guess I'm grateful for the path I am in as well

3:35 this concept has been stuck to my head from the moment I've learned about the possibility of the "multiverse", so whenever I'm in a moment of defeat, i just imagine a version of me that did what i couldn't. It's actually very comforting :)
One thing I wanna point out is that the serpent like creatures that strange attacks Wanda with are actually Hydras greek mythological creatures who grow an extra head every time one head is cut off...
I noticed how the Eye of Agamotto is attached to his cloak. Given that his cloak was repaired in an alternate universe. Do you think the cloak will have a bigger role in later films?
they repaired the cloak with a piece of the other universes’ doctor strangers’ blue cloak right? so is his cloak going to have both cloaks’ memories, or will it have both cloaks’ personalities?? Like Moonknight lol but a fashion accessory instead
A cloak from one universe existing in a different universe where one exists!? Wouldn’t that cause an incursion? Would that be the incursion that Clea was referring to?
Yet somehow, the third eyes still look wonky to me? Like there wouldn't be shading on the upper lid, since the indent would look weirder than the eye sticking out. Or maybe weirder was the point?
Well, considering one of Kang's variants is Nathaniel Richard's, a descendant of Reed, and they then created the TVA, it makes sense it would be similar tech.
Some things I would like to put out there is that the empty seat might be for Dr Strange before he died. Blackbolt probably didnt know his power still worked even after losing his mouth which made him scream at a small chance of breaking the skin or something. Also Vision probably wasnt in 838 since Ultron was successfull and that their kid would have to be made with magic if he was made. Also Mysterio's script writer could have dreamt about it which would somewhat make sense but it was obviously overlooked by the scriptwriters.
I genuinely hope they continue with the x-men plot lines, I really want to see Elizabeth Olson as Wanda come back and whisper "No more Mutants". Gosh just imagine the scene when that happens, it would just be amazing.
The difference between this Strange and the others is his interactions with Spiderman in No Way Home. He doesn't remember Peter Parker, but the idea of risking everything to save lives was indelible.
"This is different." was a passing thought that came with a grin on more than one occasion watching this movie. This felt like a Marvel title, but at the same time they broke boundaries they've only skirted near in the past. This movie seems like the glue that's going to hold together a lot of other titles. It has the past, present, and future of Marvel all consolidated under one umbrella whilst mingling in darker tones that are going to be necessary for stories like this that have yet to hit the big screen. Such an experience, and I highly recommend seeing it.
I really like the idea of the Fantastic Four being originally from the 60's, giving us the Hank Pym collaborations we know and love. Then we have their whole origin story where the go off planet, get their powers, etc. etc., but since they were elsewhere in the universe, time progressed differently...so to them they were only gone for a few months or years or whatever but when they return to Earth, decades have past and everyone has either forgotten about them or presumed them dead.
The scene where Wong gives up the location of Mount Wundagore feels very inconsistent with what we know about him. As sorcerer supreme he should be willing to sacrifice just 4 people rather than give that up literally putting the entire multi verse in danger.
Wong only became SS because Strange was dust for 5 years. He’s a fantastic sorcerer but he doesn’t have Strange’s experience and discipline, and the compound got dropped by the most powerful witch in the known multiverse in front of his face. What the heck would you do in a situation like that
Thanks for this detailed recap! I think the 7th chair in the illuminati scene was empty because it belonged to the dead Dr. Strange from that universe and they kept it as a memorial because they were sorry about having to kill him.
@@PlusOne2Crit well if you think about it mordo probably wasn’t part of the Illuminati before they had to kill their dr strange meaning there would still be one chair open for whoever
Don't know if anybody else noticed this but the scene when their fighting the tentacle monster in the street in the background behind Strange is a police officer directing people away from the fight clearly indicating that they have been trained in getting civilians away from fights like that
When Wanda and Strange are in the illusion orchard, if you pay attention to the animals crossing in the background, they stay hidden by trees a little to long before being visible again. A hint that things aren’t right.
I think this is expressing that there are layers of illusions in the orchard. What we’re seeing is light diffracting differently due to different densities of hexes.

Reed's portal looks a lot like those used by TVA agents. When Wanda was chasing our heros through the tunnel under the river, I was just waiting for them to flood it - because everyone knows that's how you defeat a witch. Dropping a house on herself also worked (maybe). Peggy got Darth Maul'ed... So could return as a mod with Ultron legs.

I wish it was just a bit harder. Lol I mean come on they’re the Illuminati. To me it felt rush. I love that they introduced multiple universes but it also feels like the deaths don’t really mean anything anymore
Similar to the boys and invincible
It reminded me of the start of the 2021 suicide squad where everyone was built up to be interesting characters, and then they just killed all of them in horrific ways
I’ll go further Tarantino style just brutal kills offscreen.
Seeing how strong strange has progressed each film he’s in is incredible
The Illuminati’s death scene reminded me a lot of the Guardians dying in Invincible. Such cool characters all gone in such short brutal moments. Was done super well from Marvels end.

Definitely never jumped or got scared in this movie. Although I've never gotten scared or jumpy from actual horror movies. This was so tame compared to some of those so it never came off as horror to me. Still loved the movie though.

Gotta say, for an acting range playground, Elizabeth Olsen must be loving playing Wanda lately. The whole character is like a demo reel.
Mysterio’s use of 616 was not a coincidence, it’s highly likely Guterman did research about the possibility of multiple universes and came across Erik Selvig’s hypothesis (which was written on his blackboard in Thor the Dark World).
I remember it being on his blackboard, but couldn't remember which Thor movie it was in.
The scene with three-eyed Strange where he admitted any falling-off-a-building-dream any Strange had was his doing was such a small detail but it was super chilling and interesting.

Thought the same thing when it happened!
Yes! And I wonder if having the 3rd eye, he could have easily seen his own death coming, and yet, his own arrogance killed him by never peering into this scene, and irony killed him since he was killing off all his other selves throwing them to their deaths and later he gets his own.

Many Marvel movies have villains who were "good" and had a tragic origin story making them turn heel.

When Strange said “Didn’t you guys chart in the 60s”, he was talking about an actual band called The Fantastic Four who were around in the 60s and did chart.
That’s a band name? I thought maybe the fantastic 4 has been around since the 60s and they been trapped in the quantum real or negative zone.
That makes sense since Dr. Strange knows a lot about bands from the 60s and 70s as shown in the first film!

35:58 Am I the only one who thought these two red streaks were just invisible cars in the city? Like ghosts of the destroyed reality. The red streaks are very similar to some long-exposure photography I've done of cars passing by.
no. once again, this channel misses the mark by THAT MUCH, by overanalyzing the obvious. (it pissed me how much he repeated his mindboggling misunderstanding of the "magic's real too" line in no way home).
@@staticvoidmain He talked about the seventh empty chair while the movie clearly states that 838 Strange who was killed created the Illuminati. How could he miss that it was Strange's chair . Still, I like this channel.
Yes, I believe it just a long exposure of car's tail light.
Exactly my thought

I LOVE THE FACT THAT THEY USE FAN CAST AND FORMER ACTORS! IT WAS SO COOL!
Darth Peggy has a nice ring to it
6:30 One detail I liked is how strange used magic from the dark dimension on that bus, just like the Ancient one did in the first movie
I was suprised by the amount of times our strange used monsters through his magic. In the scene at kamar-taj he growls (Right before he shoots the serpents out of his hand) !?! Reminded me of supreme strange. Great movie, love it.
In these moments I was surprised Wong didn't react in some way. It all looked like Dark Magic to me, but based on Wong, it must have all been above board...?
No one seems to have caught Strange saying “no sh*+ genius” to Mr Fantastic. That’s as close to the Sherlock reference we’re going to get.
I literally thought at that moment "Sherlock, say Sherlock"
That was a really cool video, concise yet explorative. Just like the film. Thank you!
Now seeing Snow White on the TV when Wanda crashes in and them screaming "AHH mom A witch" makes so much sense. They thought the witch was attacking them.
Literally yelled out loud when the cameos appeared. And with how this was shot (Evil Dead camera angles) and how bloody and brutal this was makes it my favorite film in the MCU so far.
Yes this movie is way better than know way home
“Evil Dead Camera Angles” lol
nah. for me it was mid. it's in the level of GOTG which is B. Still nothing can defeat endgame It was S for me.
your favourite??? i get different opinions and all but damn
@@bullystrange2944 Yeah I gotta say this film isn’t even in my top ten MCU films. I thought No Way Home was a much better Multiverse film. It’s a shame too since I was so excited for MoM but to be frank I have been disappointed with both Doctor Strange films, to the point where I’m not even excited for his third film, I don’t really care 😂
I've just now realised that the visions Wanda gave to the other avengers were actually windows into alternate universes and their variants.
Huh
@@eh7987 wdym “huh”
Oh shit🤯
Yea that's the power of retconning
Wow mind blown….
This one really showed how powerful Wanda is. And Dr Strange. They both have become powerful and seem to be more capable of handling Thanos now than in the past.
