That giant dead god with the back spikes is probably the most comics accurate character we’ve seen in an MCU movie yet. Eternity in this movie was pretty bang on, too. Their appearances were both directly lifted from the comics. I love it.
I love how inanimate yet magical items can have personalities. First, Dr. Strange's cape in his first movie, and now Stormbreaker being jealous of Mjolnir.
@@OverlordZenith if you remember towards the start of the movie when Thor is meditating and sticks Stormbreaker in the soil, it starts to take root. So yeah, I think being part of Groot definitely gave it personality.
At first I was a bit put off that the axe would have a personality, it seemed weird. I know that objects can be imbued with 'magic' to give them certain properties (Mjolnir), but their own character?... Then I reminded myself of Dr Strange's cape, which never actually seemed that weird to me so I thought, fair enough, why not! I think the main issue I had was that it's 'personality' was just done for laughs, at least in this film.
Interesting that in phase 4 the villains are motivated by love (Mandarin, Wanda, Gorr) and all have a change of heart and decide to take a different path at the end of the movie.
I love how the movie started with Gorr being in the desert while his daughter is dying and ends the movie with Gorr being surrounded by water, but this time his daughter is revived and he is dying. I love that touch of the film.
I especially loved how they use plays and acts as a way to cope up with events and losses like how they acted out their fathers death and how Axel calmed the kids with the story of Thor. Asgardian culture.
perhaps if it were done well. in Ragnorok, it was funny and serves to stroke Loki's ego, but in this one it's trying to be an in-joke but comes across either going on too long or making fun of the predecessor (i think the former since ragnorok was also Taika's work).
@@morganseppy5180 I mean, i dont think Taikas above making fun of himself. The beggining of the movie kinda feel like a parody to the genre, including sorta parodying the previous movie. Maybe the play is a part of that. Or maybe its just a running gag. Either way, i kinda agree it was a little too long, even though it was a short scene.

I agree they really did pull off the eternity character design, especially if you watch it in 3D, as the entire silhouette is set further back in the 3D, really showing eternity like the void of space. Like the entire silhouette is just a doorway to the infinity of the universe. Fantastic!
Some symbolism that I appreciated was the markings on gorr’s and his daughters body. When we saw his world’s god, he also had the same sort of markings on his face. So when we see gorr later, his face and body is scarred only over his markings. Gorr purposefully cut and mutilated his own body, symbolizing his great anguish, as well as his hatred and rejection of all gods.
I love that Gorr usually walks into the scene looking like he has a skull face, and then comes closer and you see a change in his face a bit, turning more "human"
Yes. Very effective. So glad they didn’t give him some kind of prosthetic nose/ trunk like in the comics. People were outraged he wasn’t made to look more comic book accurate. 🙄. That would have looked silly af. Much more sinister to have done it the way they did giving Bale full reign over his facial expressions. Smart choice since Bale’s performance was the best thing about this movie although there wasn’t enough of him.
The movie should’ve been an hour longer in my opinion so much more to explore with gorr really wish they would’ve done more with this story line especially with them writing off Jane
I agree. Maybe not an hour longer but it felt too short. It felt like the movie had been severely trimmed. We needed more scenes of Gorr butchering gods and more scenes to counter the silliness and humor packed into the movie.

I think that at 35:26 the tree pattern that is created when Thor empowers the Asgardian kids is supposed to be the Tree of Life from Norse (and many other) mythologies. In Avengers Infinity War Thor mentions to Rocket that he can speak Groot. I had hoped that we were gonna find out that there was a backstory that connected Groot's ancestors to Asgard.
Taika had said that the stormbreaker's insecure behavior was because it was made of groot's hand who is an adolescent and so the arm is also an adolescent and is going thorugh mood swings
I was surprised by how much I liked Thor and Starlord seemingly being bros now. It makes sense since they’ve been traveling together since Endgame, but I really enjoyed those brief scenes of them sharing a beer (and Thor crying lol) and Quill’s mouthing of Thor’s battle speeches. Fun character development!
What I liked the most about it is the subtle detail that goes unspoken. You can easily read that Quill just learned to accept Thor's goofy act. He knows Thor not just enjoy himself but also use the act to hild his hurt, but he also knows Thor delivers and he does care (hence the talk). You watch their interactions (direct and indirect), you can see Quill learned to read right past all of that. It is a particular type of just accepting how the other is, including their superficial kinks one might perosnally not enjoy, which I find very pleasant to see.
I agree but i feel having the dumpling god took away from the movie and kinda made the whole omnipotence city more into joke than the gathering place of gods in the mcu. I feel the numerous disney references are starting to take alot away from the mcu specifically. They really should have given the movie a more serious tone lightly undercut with some humour instead of humour lightly undercut with a bit of seriousness. I think they can keep making disney references aslong as they are on earth and it makes more sense since disney can exist on the earth but when u put it into the wider universe just for a gag it just feels like they taking liberties with the mcu which really undercuts the immersion that i was hoping for. Not to mention how they represented zues, they really should have tried to make him a more serious character but still incredibly dismissive of "lower" lifeforms. Although i have to say the orgy thing was kinda on point for zues as a character as we know him outside the mcu so kudos
I was legit freaking out watching this entire part bc it was so beautiful! It’s insane how hard to make monochromatic scenes like this look so rich while devoid of color. It requires so much thought & planning before shooting & in post. And that part with the lightning bolt…🤯!!! Gorgeous!
Love how Jane and the Asgardians kids were just as worthy as Thor to posses his power! Showed that the most unexpected people could step up and be a hero too.
@@ParadoxX-lt1vu right. If my memory serves me right, I he said something like “having the courage and spirit” or something like that in place of the word “worthy”
Jane and the asgardian kids weren't necessarily worthy. Thor can now enchant his weapons, just as Odin did before. He is just now on Odin's level of power.
@@ParadoxX-lt1vu Jane wasn't worthy in the normal sense either. Thor told Mjolnir to always look out for Jane even when he is gone, and you can see Mjolnir glow after Thor said those words, like he accidentally put an enchantment on Mjolnir.
It's no wonder Stormbreaker has a mind of its own throughout the movie the handle is part of Groot. Wouldn't that make the handle sentient and the axe itself sentient? Oh and Matt Damon reprising the Loki role was hilarious.
i agree with others saying the movie was too short and needed more scenes with Gorr. i would of liked to see a cameo of Moon Knight defending the Egyptian pantheon from Gorr.
Axl was one amazing character in this movie, he has his father's eyes, and is training to look be better than him, seeing heimdall in valhalla thanking jane for taking care of him still shows that heimdall still watches the galaxy.
I'm confused because I thought Astrid was only changing their name because I thought perhaps it could work for either gender but are they trying to say that Astrid changing to Axl was also changing gender?
I believe the gold blood throughout the movie we kept seeing doesn’t hint at the Sovereign or anything like that. It’s probably just Ichor, the blood of the gods, predominantly associated with the Greek and Roman gods, but ig the MCU just uses it for all gods, which is totally fine and made for some scenes that shouldn’t have been in a PG-13 movie.
Also in the room of eternity, as it is forming for Gor, we can see the helmet of Galactus. And the statue that Thor lifts that was going to crush the kids looked like Arishem from the end of Eternals movie
They actually filmed a lot more with Gorr and cut it. I wass dissapointed he iss a great villain. Easily could've cut a lot of the jokes for more Gorr.
@@AndreJHoward marvel has started rushing movies cuz of more money probably...... But it compromises some of the important scenes and the movie almost seems like a tease ....like the multiverse hoping in mom and just showing only pictures of gorr's butchering in this one
I loved the subtext of Thor finding out his ex-girlfriend is now in “a relationship” with his “old partner” Mjolnir. 😆 You could feel his pain! And then the jealousy of Stormbreaker who as a part of Groot’s race is at least partially sentient! 😂
36:20 or so, Enternity's meditative pose and waiting for the first one very much is mirroring Thor at the beginning. Korg's narratition goes like "So he gave up the search for love. / Accepting that he was only good for one thing. /Waiting in quiet contemplation for someone to say: [Cuts to Quill next to Thor] So we need your help".
Same! All of these missable details enhanced the film for me. I don’t think Marvel is just throwing anything together and calling it a movie. The Internet consensus is that Marvel has isn’t even trying anymore. I beg to differ 🤔
Doesn't happen often to me but somehow Christian Bale got a tear rolling down from my eyes by the end. That too in movie where humour was loaded right up until the time Axl called the Bifrost. Gorr literally carried the ending of this movie for me. Kinda bummed Gorr can't get any more screentime, but at least he got the ending he deserved. Hits home the fact that the only person who can beat Gorr is himself and the only *thing* that can beat Gorr is love.
Hemsworth coming back for a 5th movie is incredible fan service on his part. No one would’ve blamed him if he wanted to call it quits. So happy he’s still willing to pick up the hammer though. Truly becoming the GOAT of Marvel. Gonna be hard to beat RDJ though ;)
If you wanna get technical, this is his sixth time reprising his role if you break Infinity War and Endgame into to separate movies even though it continues the story from Infinity War.
I mean, he gets to work at home since they film most of it in Australia, he loves working with Taika Waititi, his kids get to be in the movies and he gets a much bigger payday doing this than probably any other role...oh, and he's an Executive Producer so he has a lot of creative control over the character. If Thor was still the character from 1 and 2, I'd agree, but given the direction his character started moving to in Ragnarok, leaving the role now would be an odd move. He's got a dream scenario for an actor.
The gold that gods bleed is called ichor, its just the blood of the immortals. Also I knew that Zeus wasn't dead because when he fell he didn't disintegrate like the others.
Also, going by what I knew from the original myths, Gods don't just die from a mere lightning bolt piercing them. In order to "kill" a God (I say kill with heavy quotations), you need to destroy their physical body. Kinda like what they did with Ouranous in the myths! Since Zeus was just impaled with his lightning bolt and had mostly his physical form in tact, I knew he wasn't dead.
I feel like people who complain about the direction of the film would actually at least appreciate it more with that Forrest Gump comparison. He has his own arc that is subtle but his heart remains full and optimistic, helping others, even those he hates, grow and become better people. Thors small arc led way to everyone surrounding him having big arcs just like Forrest.
The people that complain are people with brains. This movie was DC garbage bad. Yes that bad. Zack Snyder bad. And thats harsh to say because this is Marvel they usually nail it. But they must have had DC movie people doing this movie. I was sick to my stomach.
This movie was garbage , bad is not enough , It didn't take itself serious for 30 seconds , stupid jokes made it a comedy and me as an audience couldn't take it's story any serious , it was a waste for a great comic character I mean the Gorr
@@nottherealben it didn't, even kidnapping the kids couldn't make situation any serious , Having some jokes is ok but ruining all of the characters and story is not
The "Shattered Mjolnir" pieces back together scene is still my Goosebumps in this Movie! Admit it. thats a unique ability and powers from the Mighty thor ❤
The song "rainbow in the dark" bij DIO plays in the end credits which is a fenoninal song choice in my opinion. Because it just perfectly reflects the whole film setting.
If they had shown some scenes of Gorr butchering Gods in fast forward mode(like in 5 minutes),this movie would have been perfect. And After realising the process was too time taking, Necrosword should have told him about the Eternity and Bifrost. Then in another 5 minutes, Gorr could have murdered Eitri because of his refusal to build another storm breaker.(I don't know where Grandmaster fits in here). After that movie could go on same with some more action in the final battle against Gorr.
I feel like they’re setting up Thor to die after two more solo movies (completing a 2nd trilogy) and then we’ll get the payoff of him meeting up with Jane in Valhalla.
That would be beautiful But I don't think it will be two more 😬 More realistic in big Avengers movie, like Tony and Natasha sacrificing himself in battle against Kang or Doom
two things i noticed 1. the shot of thor and jane sitting away from each other on the couch, there was a little bit of subtle imagery and foreshadowing when mjolnir was sitting closer to jane than thor 2. there was an empty chair next to bast/bastet, the symbol looked like the grandmaster’s staff or some of the details around sakaar or something like that. probably bc gorr killed him in that shot that was left out of the final cut.
I loved how they portrayed Jane Foster as such a powerful hero in Love & Thunder. When Jane wielded Mjolnir for the last time and rescued Thor, I got so pumped.
When Gorr beheaded the celestial head to fall on the children, I thought that was a nice little wink since in the comics the necrosword beheads the celestial knowhere, the statues head even looked like the comic book’s celestial head.
The best part of this movie was Bao the God of Dumplings. Probably the strongest God at that meeting. Would of loved to see Gorr try to fight Bao and lose.
The movie was fine to me, REALLY needed more Gorr though. Felt like he was so under utilized and under developed. The first scene was peak, after that I felt like we never really got to know him
I agree. Christian Bale did such a great job at creating uneasiness popping up out of nowhere and the way he moved and talked. I so agree there should have been more of him.
I agree. But Gorr is a serious character. Thor movies have become more comedic. I’m glad they underused Gorr rather than make him a comedian such as Thor has become.
I like the fact that Thor seemed more... knowledgable here, when he described the Omnipotence City, the Shadow Realm, and the Necrosword. "Ragnarok" dumbed him down quite a bit, so this is a nice change.
If he knew there was a place that will grant any wish to whoever gets there first and all you needed to do was use the bifrost to get there?...what was he doing during infinity war?
@@couldokun I’m just guessing but didn’t they realise they needed the bifrost to enter eternity only when they entered Gorr’s tent. I think another thing is why didn’t Thor ask Zeus for help in infinity war warning them about the infinity stones and thanos
the smudges on thor's cape in the town hall scene were not from the shadow realm, but instead were from earlier when Stormbreaker's janky Bifrost crash-landed him on to the monument, when he came back korg mentioned his cape was burned
Loved the movie! What a beautiful and touching story arc for Thor, who has lost so many of the people he loves! Also great mix of humor, action and world building. By far my favorite Thor movie!
Thor is like Chandler from Friends. Telling jokes is his protection from painful feelings. He wants to have a family but he is afraid of it. He takes Jane's cancer so seriously. He cares and is supportive. The deeper story goes, the less jokes is told. Very good movie. It could be better but definitely it is not disappointment.
@@sonnydthomas This is a hilarious example of comedy being subjective because there are so many people who shit on friends for not being funny in the same way you just shit on thor love and thunder for not being funny. The irony is lost on you.
I’m actually like how the Axl scene of him and Thor explained that scene from Ragnarok about how with heimdell Thor couldn’t physically be in asgard, he was a projected image hologram.
@33:30 : When Thor uses Zeus's thunderbolt to pursue Gorr to the gates of Eternity, He's prominently situated in front of a tree. While the tree in the scene seems to just be an ordinary tree, its appearance just as Thor summons the Bifrost certainly is suggestive of Yggdrasil, the tree of life from Norse mythology.
A lot of love for the movie as a whole, but the hairs on my neck raised when Thor Imbued worthiness on his own adolescent Thor Corps. The heroes speech he’d been trying to give all movie that received nothing but eye rolls, meant the world to these scared kids and then they all GO OFF! My favorite payoff. Can’t wait to see this movie again
I loved this movie, some parts were mixed for me but mostly great. It’s also funny how the movie started, everyone in my theatre thought that someone was standing in front of the projector holding a baby.
I think the comment about half our soldiers are always dead refered to Hela's army , the beserkers as they did serve Asgard at some point, but thank you for this awesome video!
I just realized when Korg said he started a revolution but didn't print enough pamphlets, that is him being defeated by paper. I wonder if that was intentional, I'm sure it was, Taika Waititi clearly loved the rock paper scissors idea
I loved it. People complain about how overly funny it was, and not serious enough, but it gives a story of how to smile through pain, and laugh through it. I understand why some don’t understand, but its okay to me because not all marvel movies have to be balanced. We just got multiverse of madness which was dark and this brings balance to the films this year
I do believe they allowed them to lean into slapstick too much. MCU is known for how to balanced fun well but in this movie it feels like SNL at times. That s not a good thing.
With Eternity appearing, Infinity and Master and Chaos (though teased in Loki )and the likes aren't far behind. This along with the teases in Eternals and the incursion in Multiverse of Madness makes the future of MCU so bloody good..so exciting.
I really need an explanation...when I saw eternity, I didn't think it was actually him, I thought it was just like a presence symbolising him and that presence was like a tool for anyone to have their wish granted... Was it actually eternity? Why wasn't it more of a big deal? How come it is that easy to come in contact with a cosmic being of his rank? Like I'm so confused, if it's actually him, why would he resurrect someone? I don't read the comics and my knowledge of Marvel universe isn't that great so...sorry for the long text.
@@AToMiC741 Its not that complicated. Basically Taika adapted Eternity in a very casual way, using him for convenience with the whole wish granting thing without really explaining if he works the same way that in the comics or if he really its just a living wishing well.
The goddess of magic looked like the Egyptian goddess Isis. There was also a big white dragon (?) in the room across from the golden dragon. Made me think of the Luck Dragon from the Never Ending Story but that's very unlikely. I'm excited to see if people will try to figure out all of the god cameos.
I "Love" the way when Thor transforms the kids the strength to fight Gorr's shadowy demons & when the kids are fighting, that has totally reminds from Spy Kids 2 at the ceremony fight scene.
The blood letting in Omnipotent City was incredible. Were the blood not gold, that sequence would have changed the rating of the movie. I couldn't stop laughing during the whole fight. It was so grotesque and hilarious.
I cant believe you didnt mention the similarity between jane needing to hold the hammer to be thor and how in the first comics thor was actualy an ordinary human who would turn into thor when he held the hammer and would turn back to a human if he didnt touch the hammer for more than a minute.
5:34 Naruto Shippuuden's opening "Silhouette" did exactly the same thing as Thor more than 7 years ago, with the main character running and obstacles in the foreground hiding the transitions
First, that outfit was introduced in the comics in the 2000s. It's not that iconic. Two, oh, you were fanboying over a dumb attempt at comic accuracy with the outfit, but were you also fanboying when Sif was as dumb as a rock and said "sh1t", which Marvel's Norse Gods never do, as their speech is clean and poetic. This is an insult to Thor.
Despite the comedy this movie is extremely dark. It opens with Gor losing and burying his daughter. Gods not caring about their followers. Jane having stage 4 cancer and dying. One of the darkest movies in the MCU plot wise
Yes, and people seem to miss the point that the jokes and wackiness are the ways that these characters cope and heal from what they've been through, and how they continue to find joy in life. The characters that let their joy die become depressed and angry and vengeful and they suffer more for it. Anyone who says "This film should be more serious and dark" is missing the point.
I agree with this and I loved the movie, but joking *all the time* is not necessarily a healthy way of coping with trauma. As an audience member I would've liked to 'feel' the sadness a little bit more reflected in the movie at times. Sometimes maybe the screaming goat didn't HAVE to introduce the very next scene you know XD
I don’t think he knew he could until he found he had unintentionally given his powers to Jane; both Thor and Loki are actually still learning what they can do.
For me it was the complete opposite. Gods being scared and butchered was nothing more than a joke and the complete lack of seriousness (except for a few scenes where they remembered the plot) completly killed it for me.
17:13 when you recommended forest hump and ghost those were of the only 3 VHS tapes that I had as a kid in my room that’s I’d watch all the time with Grease included in the rotation
Half our soldiers are always dead could also be an on the nose reference to Ragnarok when Hela raised an army of dead asgardian warriors. You had asgardians technically on both sides of the conflict, but half were dead
I don't know if anyone has mentioned that Gorr the God Butcher appears to have cut off his tattoos, supposedly because they were part of his worship. Or maybe they were simply twisted by his corruption by the Necrosword.
I truly think Love and Thunder is the most violent MCU movie so far, even moreso than Multiverse of Madness. It just feels less violent because the blood is always discoloured and the tone is upbeat. If the blood was actually red, it would probably be rated R.
Anyone else kinda bummed we never got to see Gorr the god butcher butcher any gods? Like we saw a bit of aftermath and one light kill early on but kinda wanted to see Gorr in full Gorr anger mode eviscerate a god, thought it would be Zeus before I saw the movie, but felt it had the same issue as Carnage in Venom 2.
It’s got to be a MPAA rating thing, I thought similarly that the torture scene on the tiny planet was tame but likely shown that way for the rating. Could also explain the Dinklage and Hedley cuts.

I especially loved how they use plays and acts as a way to cope up with events and losses like how they acted out their fathers death and how Axel calmed the kids with the story of Thor. Asgardian culture.
Yes it is very in line with the "oral tradition" of many early tribes and exhibited by the asgardians re-calling past battles during celebrations
perhaps if it were done well. in Ragnorok, it was funny and serves to stroke Loki's ego, but in this one it's trying to be an in-joke but comes across either going on too long or making fun of the predecessor (i think the former since ragnorok was also Taika's work).

Fantastic!
I honestly didn't even know they still made these films in 3D
@@SamFr1000 sadly they do. In my country if you want to get the movie without dubbing they usually only offer it in 3D, absolute pain in the ass

Korgs belt buckle kept making me think of the Darkhold
They apparently cut out that very scene, wanting to keep the film family friendly enough
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ Bot
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ NO! that is another fictional story!
I love that Gorr usually walks into the scene looking like he has a skull face, and then comes closer and you see a change in his face a bit, turning more "human"
Yes! Loved this effect. giving us the "noseless" look from the comics for a moment, showing his true self in the darkness
Yes! It was very creepy and well done.
I love how miek actually wrote the entire movie on his whiteboard all the way to the very end and nobody noticed
This is exactly why I came here today!!
THIS! At 22:08, it’s literally the WHOLE BLOODY STORY laid out for us in dry erase!!
The movie should’ve been an hour longer in my opinion so much more to explore with gorr really wish they would’ve done more with this story line especially with them writing off Jane
you don't need an hour just better directing and writing
Maybe 20 mins longer
I agree. Maybe not an hour longer but it felt too short. It felt like the movie had been severely trimmed. We needed more scenes of Gorr butchering gods and more scenes to counter the silliness and humor packed into the movie.
past few projects marvel has done have been super rushed. so annoyed with them right now.
Writing off a character that's not being in the films for 10 years lol.
The usage of soundtracks was god-like in this film, it really allowed Taika to convey every emotion he wanted during crucial scenes.
Yes, but we didn't need the same song 3 times. It took away from each sequential scene in which it was used.
Love that they used Jack Kirby's drawing of eternity for the MCU version
@@gauchesymbiote1039 yeah… I didn’t like how they repeated the same song.
They were just bland scene carried by good songs. Nothing like in Ragnarok when Thor was about to be killed by hela and then he calls in his lightning

So Sweet Child was used no more than Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" in Ragnorak
Sure it is, Taika
I was surprised by how much I liked Thor and Starlord seemingly being bros now. It makes sense since they’ve been traveling together since Endgame, but I really enjoyed those brief scenes of them sharing a beer (and Thor crying lol) and Quill’s mouthing of Thor’s battle speeches. Fun character development!
It looks like Peter was trying to copy Thor’s beard to
What I liked the most about it is the subtle detail that goes unspoken.
That monochrome fight straight up looked like a comic book and I loved that they chose to linger instead of rushing through the fight like usual. .

Well the kids weren't necessarily "worthy" he enchanted their weapons to give them the power. Not like Jane being worthy and using the hammer.
@@ParadoxX-lt1vu right. If my memory serves me right, I he said something like “having the courage and spirit” or something like that in place of the word “worthy”

@@ParadoxX-lt1vu Jane wasn't worthy in the normal sense either.

It's no wonder Stormbreaker has a mind of its own throughout the movie the handle is part of Groot. Wouldn't that make the handle sentient and the axe itself sentient? Oh and Matt Damon reprising the Loki role was hilarious.
Mjolnir and Stormbreaker both have characters
In recent comics, It's revealed that an entity named Storm is kept inside Mjolnir
I particularly liked when we saw the Asgardian actors out of costume and just in glasses and grey hair.
i agree with others saying the movie was too short and needed more scenes with Gorr. i would of liked to see a cameo of Moon Knight defending the Egyptian pantheon from Gorr.
Agree!! And Gorr failed and decide to go to eternity rather than kill the god one by one.
That woulda been bad ass
Hmmm Cameo would’ve been pretty cool
I think Bale only had so many days to film was the issue otherwise they would have replaced him.
Axl was one amazing character in this movie, he has his father's eyes, and is training to look be better than him, seeing heimdall in valhalla thanking jane for taking care of him still shows that heimdall still watches the galaxy.
Heimdall is basically the gatekeeper of Valhalla as well !😅
Astrid
@@fahimalfaisal7781 Once a gatekeeper, always a gatekeeper.
I'm confused because I thought Astrid was only changing their name because I thought perhaps it could work for either gender but are they trying to say that Astrid changing to Axl was also changing gender?
@@CaptChrispy yes it's very subtly implied, because Astrid is a female Nordic name, but the characters acknowledge that Heimdall has a son
Even I thought it is Ichor
But zues bleed red
In actual Greek myths, zues would not bleed red
But marvel is not greek myths
Agree. Strong precedent with Star Trek VI, which avoided PG-13 rating because Klingons were rewritten to have pink blood.
Also in the room of eternity, as it is forming for Gor, we can see the helmet of Galactus. And the statue that Thor lifts that was going to crush the kids looked like Arishem from the end of Eternals movie
The movie should have been 3 hours. They very well could have expanded on a few more things like Gorr’s backstory with his wife and people.

No nonsense, just went and Yeeted Stormbreaker out of the way. No long explanation until the villain arrives.

I have a feeling that would remove a sin for Jeremy.
I think what Jane whispered at the end was the “Love and Thunder” line Korg says at the very end

Love that thor basically tells Mjölnir to protect Jane and be there. And hammer listened
I loved the subtext of Thor finding out his ex-girlfriend is now in “a relationship” with his “old partner” Mjolnir. 😆 You could feel his pain! And then the jealousy of Stormbreaker who as a part of Groot’s race is at least partially sentient! 😂
Mjolnir is partially sentient also!

Stormbreaker jealous was just hilarious hahaha
36:20 or so, Enternity's meditative pose and waiting for the first one very much is mirroring Thor at the beginning. Korg's narratition goes like "So he gave up the search for love. / Accepting that he was only good for one thing. /Waiting in quiet contemplation for someone to say: [Cuts to Quill next to Thor] So we need your help".
I really liked this movie, despite a lot of laughter and jokes the ending really hit different and had great meaning.

Not really
The movie was just plain stupid, how he gave powers to a group of children to where he is seen fighting with Gorr’s 6 year old daughter
Why wouldn't he keep playing Thor I can see him doing at least a good 4-6 more movies
Technically:
Thor 1
Avengers
Thor 2
Avengers 2
Thor 3
Infinity War

Thor 4
I mean, he gets to work at home since they film most of it in Australia, he loves working with Taika Waititi, his kids get to be in the movies and he gets a much bigger payday doing this than probably any other role...oh, and he's an Executive Producer so he has a lot of creative control over the character. If Thor was still the character from 1 and 2, I'd agree, but given the direction his character started moving to in Ragnarok, leaving the role now would be an odd move. He's got a dream scenario for an actor.
He’s also getting a hefty paycheck for other fourth and fifth
I liked the details of Gorr's scars, clearly self inflicted as a denouncing of the tattoos that must have honored his forsaken god.
A scene of him doing that would have been great to see.

That would be beautiful
But I don't think it will be two more 😬

two things i noticed
1. the shot of thor and jane sitting away from each other on the couch, there was a little bit of subtle imagery and foreshadowing when mjolnir was sitting closer to jane than thor
2. there was an empty chair next to bast/bastet, the symbol looked like the grandmaster’s staff or some of the details around sakaar or something like that. probably bc gorr killed him in that shot that was left out of the final cut.
The Grandmaster is an elder of the universe though, I don't think he could be defeated that easily.
I loved how they portrayed Jane Foster as such a powerful hero in Love & Thunder. When Jane wielded Mjolnir for the last time and rescued Thor, I got so pumped.

Yes, and people seem to miss the point that the jokes and wackiness are the ways that these characters cope and heal from what they've been through, and how they continue to find joy in life.

I absolutely adored every part of this film. It felt like a simpler time in the MCU, despite being so far in to its cinematic line.
For me it was the complete opposite.
Gods being scared and butchered was nothing more than a joke and the complete lack of seriousness (except for a few scenes where they remembered the plot) completly killed it for me.
That is why this movie felt weird to me actually. You would expect a movie where every god is in danger to be not so simple
Only MCU bootlickers like this movie. It is very flawed flim with some of the worst tone balance issues in any movie.
@@Daddyhack2174 so what, edge lord.
17:13 when you recommended forest hump and ghost those were of the only 3 VHS tapes that I had as a kid in my room that’s I’d watch all the time with Grease included in the rotation
“Every kid in this movie is someone’s kid”
Fantastic observation
Half our soldiers are always dead could also be an on the nose reference to Ragnarok when Hela raised an army of dead asgardian warriors. You had asgardians technically on both sides of the conflict, but half were dead
I like how Thor’s back is dedicated to Loki
I don't know if anyone has mentioned that Gorr the God Butcher appears to have cut off his tattoos, supposedly because they were part of his worship. Or maybe they were simply twisted by his corruption by the Necrosword.
4:50 I really liked this Marvel intro, its been something actually different.
I truly think Love and Thunder is the most violent MCU movie so far, even moreso than Multiverse of Madness.
It just feels less violent because the blood is always discoloured and the tone is upbeat. If the blood was actually red, it would probably be rated R.
most violent? 🤣
I was just sayin this to my homies. They didn't do him justice at all.
This movie was mediocre i was kind of let down.
I wasn't "Dark World" let down tho.
Thor movies are 2 outta 4
Too Family friendly
Part of me says it was a lot childish compared to Civil War and Infinity War. They could have done so much things but... I dunno.
@@untitledmixture1531 yeah I felt like it was made specifically for parents, certain themes were forced and pacing was kinda off to me.. fitting in too much all at once. Maybe it’s just me!
