Having played Highelves for years in the tabletop and knowing my lore I can say couple of things (no End-Times): First, there is an other possible legendary lord called "Prince Imrik Lord of Dragons" he rides on the named Stardragon Minaithnir. He didn't make it in the last army book, but he is in the End-Times. Considering Karl Franz and Azhag riding on their named mounts as well Imrik could be the High Elf version of this. Teclis is the best mage in the tabletop, he is the one and only level five mage. Only rivaled by the oldest generation Slan. Teclis is so stong, that you will not include him in your army for the people that you play against will either call you a powergamer or just not play at all. So he has to be a strong choice. Eltharion comes in two versions. Blind on foot, and riding a griffon and beeing a kinda fighting mage in armor. A Price or Imrik riding a Stardragon is the strongest close combat model in the tabletop. It will just eat Karl Franz on Deathclaw any time. The only viable counter beeing cannons. Armored Horses used by the Silverhelms and Dragon Princes are the best in the game as well, they have the same armor save as all the Bretonian knights and are not slowed by their armor that makes them faster then all other heavy armored cavalry. They are even faster then Empire and Bretonian light cavalry speed wise but dont turn as fast. Both of these units will lose almost every ongoing combat against a units with similar cost. The White Lions are actually better armored vs missiles then the Blackorcs Phenixguard could run away from close combat, because they are not stubborn just really hard to kill. Holding a chokepoint they would perform like elite hoplites from Rome 2. The Swordmasters have the same weapon skill as Bretonian and Empire Lords and can cut arrows out of the sky, making them more resilliant against arrows and bolts. Lothern Seaguard, Sisters of Avelorn, Elyrian horse archers have normal bows with less range then longbows. So Bretonian, Dwarf, and Empire Archers outrange the above. Highelves loose shoots outs vs Dwarves and Empire all day. All Highelf units are superior to the average unit, but they are usually outnumbered. They could ballance them by giving them smaller units. This would fit with how they play on the tabletop and lorewise.
I never really liked the High Eleves throughout Warhammer, but after seeing the roster, history and placement on the map, I admit I'm excited to actually play them! :P
+Imperial Kaiser Well I think all the previous total wars had banner carriers, and captains for each unit. So I think there's a good chance it'll be the same for TW:Warhammer.
I don't think the Ulthuan High Elves would be in the game. In lore, the high elf island is pretty far away from the mainland where Total War Warhammer seems to be happening at. There might be interventionist expeditions though.
+Patrick Yang your right, but that gives room for them to cross the sea into the old world almost like Empire total war. so think of it as when they eventually come out as a dlc the game would run like Empire where you can cross worlds. but this is just a theory and I have no proof that they would do this.
No offense, but why are you people so misinformed? CA has stated multiple times that all major factions will be playable throughout the TRILOGY. We have the base game coming out in may, then two standalone dlcs to include other major factions as well as additional dlc and flc.
Intriguing and exciting stuff as usual. :) I look forward of watching more of these vids. On a side note, I was really tired when I got to the middle part of the vid and decided to take a nap. And then I dreamed of some weird Warhammer dream, where there was this Empire count of sort, or king or whatever, and then all of a sudden a small regiment started to dessert, flee and scatter. Out of nowhere came this raving mad prophet shouting ''SIGMAR LIVES! SIGMAR IS A GOD!'' :O``. And then I apparently found myself picking up the Sigmarite skull banner which appeared out of nowhere and was lying on the ground, and shouted out ''SIGMAR!'', as I held the banner to the sky, which for some reason had the Bretonnian red and blue split colors, but oh well. Dreams are odd that way. :P As the prophet was shouting about Sigmar, the king was starting to yell ''NO HE'S NOOOT! :O'' covering each of his ears with one of his hands, seeming almost terrified hearing of Sigmar, not wanting to believe it, as if he had certain ambitions. A soon to be exiled/executed heretical Chaos ruler? :P This shows how much of an impact watching something this deep like these videos of yours and falling asleep mid way through it.
+Loweko1170 except that the total war guys will be using the stuff from pre-sigmar for their game and perhaps a few games in the future and that is what the videos are about.....
It's been confirmed that high Elves will have unique diplomatic mechanics, allowing them to use spies/envoys to influence other races in certain ways. I wonder if this will perhaps take the place of outright expansion when it comes to the grand campaign, given that their race is dying and will likely have impaired growth capabilities. It would make for some interesting Total War gameplay. How do you maintain a vast amount of territory with superior, but outnumbered armies? Diplomacy is your only option. Cross-faction confederation? I wonder.
Thank you for the video! Considering all that elven political pissmatch among multiple factions, I think that High Elves and their continent will be a separate Warhammer game. Similar to Shogun titles. A local civil wars with possible intrusions from the old world.
Would you consider doing these videos for lesser known factions once your done with the major factions, like Ind or Nippon? I dont think there really on tabletop anymore but they are really cool and who knows mayby they would be included in total war warhammer eventually.
Are you going to do a video about Tomb Kings soon? Sorry, if that was asked earlier on, but i am too lazy to look after other posts :P (And I LOVE the Tomb Kings! Got a huge army of them ^^)
Finubar will be the faction leader if not him then it would be tyrion who is marked as the next phoenix king in the lore dont see how the everqueen could be the faction leader as her position in elf society is more ceremonial and although she is a mage she has proven kinda useless in battle in the lore as she had to be saved by tyrion and teclis without doing much herself.
+NuclearFallout1 High elves rely on diplomacy, so I would imagine the leader would be a rotating roster between Tyrion, Teclis, Imirk, Alarielle. But Finbur makes more sense, especial as Alarielle never leaves her grove.
+Axel Dölz (Tarmok) I know, my apologies. It will be out sometime next week. I've been releasing mostly pre recorded videos because I dont have much time to spend on the computer this week :(
+Walter Carvalho I beg to differ, sword masters, white lions and sea guard are all extremely powerful units. The issue is that they will probably have a ruinous upkeep and be very late tier units
+Walter Carvalho in the tabletop their archers are out ranged by Empire and Dwarves. they will lose all long range engagements to these factions. all their units are pretty much superior to everyone else's though.
+kingragnork no they aren't, high elves normal archers use a longbow so they have the same range than dwarf and empire crossbowmen and more range than their archers and handgunners, lothern sea guard has normal bows though but they are like high elves spearmen but with bows too. High elves archers also have better accuracy than dwarves and men so their arrows hit more often even if the enemy is far away, don't know if this will translate in any way from the tabletop to the game. The only drawback is that high elves arrows don't have armor penetration unlike the handgunners and crossbowmen of the dwarfs and the empire that's why they should focus on weak armored units and leave the heavier enemy units to the eagle claw bolt throwers and the sisters of avelorn. The eagle claw bolt thrower outranges the organ gun or the flame cannon of the dwarfs and the hellblaster, steam tank, celestial hurrycanum or luminark of hysh of the empire and has the same range than the cannons, and mortars of both and the bolt thrower of the dwarfs or the hellstorm of the empire . The only thing that outranges the eagle claw bolt thrower is the grudge thrower of the dwarfs or the great cannon of the empire.
Just to be clear, TABLE TOP LORE is sometimes very far apart from the WORLD LORE. I keep reading comments about table top lore being taken way too seriously where it is really meant to be taken as a game balance technique and nothing more. In no shape or form is a human expert melee troop close to an elven expert melee troop in the lore, same thing goes with mages and the like. The thing that prevents elves from doing more is their numbers, their world views, how they use their techniques and their past history and what they have learned from it. While a human mage is no where close to an elven mage, humans are more rash, so they will try anything to win while an elf will probably hold back, especially when elves acknowledge their tendencies for extremity when it comes to things, since they are so emotional and shit.
Having Finubar be the faction isn't that far fetched, considering that even though Kholek didn't have a model, he was added. So why can't they do the same thing with Finubar? Having the High Elves in the game & not having the Phoenix King would be extremely odd.
The elven factions have me worried. If you are playing as a faction like the vampires how are you going to win? The cav the vamps have are slower than the elven counterparts and the vamps don't have ranged except for magic but it seems like the high elves magic is going to be better than the vampires. Anyone have ideas on how you could balance that? or am I just crazy?
+Ryan Stone Vampires have acess to huge amounts of cheap units to throw at their enemies, even low-tier elven units will probably be very expensive. The vampires lose an army? No big deal build it up again in like 3 turns. If the high elves lose an entire army they could very well have lost the war.
+Ryan Stone In the tabletop, the ratio of archer and skellies is about 1-4(1 archer equals 4 skellies). In addition to that, Vampire counts can create more undead or replenish their losses rather quickly, so while the initial combat might be in the high elves favor, they can be overrun by sheer numbers as the losses start to pile up, while the undead keep coming back.
i cant wait for the High Elves to be playable
i really hope all the race can be in the game

Klaus Eisenhammer smaller units makes sense because of the high elf decline
Woah.. high elves could be the most flamboyant faction in this game
I just can't wait till I can play with all these races. I can't get enough Warhammer.
Yessss high elves would be sick! Volley upon volley of arrows flying over the rows of proud spearman.
Tomb Kings next please!
Love your videos, awesome series. Each one gets me more and more stoked for total war. Looking forward to the rest, keep em coming bud!
I never really liked the High Eleves throughout Warhammer, but after seeing the roster, history and placement on the map, I admit I'm excited to actually play them! :P
Hmmm.. I do hope sometime they add drummer, banner carrier and horn blower to all army troops like these models do. I hope.
+Imperial Kaiser Well I think all the previous total wars had banner carriers, and captains for each unit. So I think there's a good chance it'll be the same for TW:Warhammer.
I think musicians was an upgrade in the empire tech tree in their campaign video.
Yes but they quickly said there not making the unit type just focusing on the basic troops first.
Tomb Kings would be cool
If the two legendary lords for high elves aren't Teclis and Tyrion then I'm gonna be massively surprised :p
Foksuh We all will be if that's the case.
Foksuh Everqueen might also have a chance.
Lieuwe de Wolf She would probably be a free DLC a few months later.
I don't think the Ulthuan High Elves would be in the game. In lore, the high elf island is pretty far away from the mainland where Total War Warhammer seems to be happening at. There might be interventionist expeditions though.
+Patrick Yang CA have stated they will represent every faction in the trilogy, but yes you're right, they might be an expeditionary force who knows!
they also said there will be sea battles :)
Matthew Ross I thought they said sea battles will be simulated by AI like Rome 1?
+Patrick Yang your right, but that gives room for them to cross the sea into the old world almost like Empire total war. so think of it as when they eventually come out as a dlc the game would run like Empire where you can cross worlds. but this is just a theory and I have no proof that they would do this.

Aaaaaaand none of this stuff matters anymore because Games Workshop burned the setting down for Age of Sigmar.
+Loweko1170 except that the total war guys will be using the stuff from pre-sigmar for their game and perhaps a few games in the future and that is what the videos are about.....

my #1 Fav faction in all of warhammer!!!
man i can't wait for tis game to come out
Great video. Tons of cool info.
Keep up the good work man.

man almost defet by a witch elf that dosen't seem to be a very strong hero.
Floating hawk ships!!!
This was amazing

We are still waiting for the last main race!!!

don't rush things in comes out when it comes out ;)
My god the high elves are going to be devastating
+PCGaming their only good troops will be archers.
+Walter Carvalho I beg to differ, sword masters, white lions and sea guard are all extremely powerful units. The issue is that they will probably have a ruinous upkeep and be very late tier units

what about giants verses the great eagle's especially with a bolt thrower.
Ahhhh, so hyped 😁😁😁

Empire total war you could go to north america so why not to the island?
nice video bro
Nice video
0:38 secs in and I see this
but i hope they have races that are punishing to play like the high elves, my ego would force me to play and win !
That's the mindset I have! but reality five minutes later dead 😂😂
Elf archers militia don't wear armor
so, no alarielle in TW WH 2
Dwarves are also slow at reproducing
both races are almost barren by now.
Are these factions confirmed or are these just speculations?
Just speculation, going over the tabletop units that the races have and out of which the game units will be picked from.
This will be DLC, right?
prolly totalwar warhammer 2
+the dutch flavour Wait, is that why it is called trilogy? 2 more games are coming out? costing $60 each?
Nope the add ons will be like 30 euro's
That would be a lot nicer; I hope it will be about 50% the US price in Thailand as same as the main game. Thanks for your answer btw.
Kislev pls pls pls
Tomb Kings would be cool
