    Whenever I was fixing something and getting frustrated because things were not going right, my dad always told me to walk away from it and get a drink or a sandwich for 5 or 10 minutes and whatever you’re working on will go much smoother. I didn’t believe it but every time, it always worked. I appreciate the videos, keep them coming. BTW, I’m in central FL too.

    Been doing this a very short time and diagnosed a leaking reversing valve the other day. Needless to say a senior tech had to help me with replacing it. Not fun to change, but I'm just glad that I diagnosed correctly where the leak was coming from.

    Hi Junior, Yes I am a retired guy. Remember doing HVAC back in the 80s and 90s. My full time job was in a Steel Mill. Did a nighttime swap out of a 5hp Copeland compressor with my partner at a rooftop of a bakery. Shortly after we got there a snow storm started. By the time we left there was 6" of snow on rooftop. Went home and took a quick nap, then left for my shift at the Steel Mill.

    Hey Jake yep that shit will kick your ass some days. I just turned 60 years old and still doing service and installs like i did the day i started doing HVAC the day after i turned 18 lol. You show patients man and that will keep you going day after day. My body is about shot and i know my field days will be coming to a end the next few years. I have been saying this the past 10 years or so lol. Problem is i still love HVAC service. I have been doing sales for 37 years to so i guess i may end up in full time HVAC sales when my body is done. Or when i drop on the job. My problem is we just have way to many freaking cool HVAC tools and i love new tools and test equipment and want it all lol. Im day 4 into Covid and still binging on your UA-cam channel and the vids just keep getting better. Also i love the fact you wear shoe covers / protection in customers homes abd it shows you care about your customers homes. It blows my mind sometimes watching some of the other HVAC channels on UA-cam with some of those well known guys and they do not wear any shoe covers at all lol. Im a clean freak in customers homes and use drop clothes everywhere. I have those 3' x 15' runner drop clothes and have about 46 of them. I will run all through a house if i have to do a HVAC system replacement to protect customers floors. Most of my customers have basements with HVAC systems and a 2nd HVAC system in a attic. Very few crawl space jobs in my area. I guess im pretty lucky. Keep up the great work dude. Cheers and Keep Rocking man \,,/\,,/

      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому +1

      Sounds just like me 😂 I am in that boat now where it’s sales, service , installs follow ups! And I can only imagine how that’ll be as I get older as well 🤦🏼‍♂️ it’s funny you mention the tool comment about staying in the field, because I have said that on numerous occasions, I just like to work with my hands and fix stuff, so it’s to the point where when I go into a job I have to tools to do the sales but I’m there to fix the shit primarily!! Definitely rock the drop clothes if I’m going to be inside on but the air handler, just standard practice. I hit the customer with the line “I’m here to leave an impression on you not your floors” lol get a good kick out of it. I appreciate you watching man and be safe rest up 🫡

    Nice vid. I hear you. Been there done that. I hate reversing valves too. Keep in mind, there are a couple of braze points on most condensers that will allow you to move the coil out the way, or remove it, especially with compressor changes. Only adds s few minutes to the job, but you have full access. That hole diving ended long ago for me. Saves your back too. Enjoyed the vid.

    I've only ever soldered plumbing and wondering when you braze these connections for HVAC, does the copper not have to be wire brushed and all oxidation removed before brazing to have a good seal and connection like soldering and fluxing copper pipe for plumbing? Looks like the old lines wererent cleaned up at all before connecting the new reversing valve to them?

    • @KoolinwithKrauss

    I’ve had a leak in the same system in the same place. Crappy thing to have to fix. I always tell customers that a reversing valve is the hardest part for a tech to replace. At least Rheem/Rudd have that corner that comes off.
    I absolutely hate when homeowners put stupid fences up or holly bushes right next to the unit. It makes everything that much harder. If they let me,I take the fence down and cut the bushes away to do my job. Then I tell them that I will haunt them if they put them back up. Good perseverance on this one though brother.

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому +1

      They do make it a bit less difficult by allowing us to open it there, it sucks when the system is only couple years old too 😞 I feel like that’s all they do, build fences and plant bushes right up on the unit 🤦🏼‍♂️ so irritating, I’ve definitely cut a fair share of em out the way lol.
