Previously MISDIAGNOSED | HVAC | Replacing a leaking CARRIER coil and TXV
In today’s video, I went out to a job that the customer was told that the Schraders were leaking, but previously called the company back to let them know still was not working. Then the customer was told that the line set was leaking. So they called us out for a second opinion, and I was able to locate the leak at the evaporator coil.
While ordering the coil, I was looking to have a preassembled TXV and drain pan but apparently carrier doesn’t do things that way. So I returned for the system that was under warranty to replace the evaporator coil as well as the TXV.
Hope y’all enjoyed the video if you could smash that 👍 button and SUBSCRIBE!! Appreciate yall 🫡

How to find Refrigerant leaks | HVAC | If it’s LENNOX it LEAKS
Переглядів 1,3 тис.21 день тому
And today’s video I filmed this back in beginning of August during peak season. Customer had notated that the system was not cooling off during the peak of the afternoon and would start to get warm. Found out right away that it was a Lennox unit, which was a direct Indicator that there was a leak in the refrigerant system. Because Lennox is known for their shitty coils. So I started by checking...
Drain line causes ISSUES | HVAC | water leaking onto ceiling

In today’s video, I go out to a call in which the customer noted. There was water leaking through the attic ceiling. Thought it was just that there was a backed up drain line, which is what it was. But due to the neglect of the system and the installation The drain line was not sloped properly and all the bacteria was building up inside of the drain pan not allowing the drain primary float swit...
I JUST GUESSED | HVAC | small van upgrade | Lennox blower motor

In this video, I go on a service call where the customer noticed that the upstairs unit was running hot. Want arrival found that the suction side was freezing over. Suspected either a refrigerant leak being that it was a Lennox system or a bad ECM motor. Once upstairs found that the blower motor was not running. It did appear to be receiving the call. Although I wasn’t able to determine if it w...
MAJOR ISSUE found on MAINTENANCE | HVAC | Carrier evaporator coil replacement
Переглядів 3,1 тис.2 місяці тому
In today’s video, I returned to a call in which I went out to do a maintenance. During the maintenance, I asked my general questions about the systems performance, and the homeowner indicated that it wasn’t keeping up to temp during the afternoons systems pressures and them to be lower than normal for the ambient temperature. Performed a leak directly at the evaporator coil as that’s where I te...
I Blew THE POWER to the building | HVAC | Reviving 23 year old neglected system

In today’s video, I go to a commercial space where the temperature inside was reading 84. The customer would reset the breakers and the system would tend to work. The initial inspection of the unit found that the coil was dirty and the head pressure was extremely high. Needed water access, but there was none on the premises so had to run home and pick up my portable M2 sprayer. Once I return to...
CONDENSER WONT START | HVAC | Carrier unit DOA due to REPTILE DAMAGE
Переглядів 1,6 тис.2 місяці тому
In today’s video, I go out to a call where the customer is letting us know that the condenser won’t start. Upon initial inspection, checked all the typical fail points, such as float, switch, and capacitor. IT COULD BE WORSE| HVAC | blower motor PULL and CLEAN
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 місяці тому
In today’s video, I returned to a call that I was previously on where I replaced the capacitor. Upon check in the capacitor I checked over the rest of the system to see if there’s any more issues to keep the unit running as long as possible. Came across the blower wheel, which was extremely dirty. By cleaning the blower wheel it frees up the weight that’s running on the motor. Also helps the ai...

In today’s video I returned back to a job from a previous video in which I went out for a second opinion. The customer was told that the part is no longer made, it’s very expensive, and the unit was out of warranty. Needless to say, none of those issues were true and they make aftermarket components for this system if that was the case and just about any other system out there aside from commun...
MASSIVE BUSINESS ISSUE | HVAC | Day In The Life | maintenance, ECM failure, drain line

And today’s video I discussed the issues we’ve been having with our tracking numbers, which has hindered the business quite a bit. Also perform a maintenance, nothing crazy. I go to a service call in which I don’t show anything in terms of what was happening, but I did film a video so stay tuned for that. And went to a clogged drain line with a failed float switch that was causing her Florida b...

WRONG DIAGNOSTIC causes BIG problems | HVAC | failed Rheem control board
Переглядів 4 тис.3 місяці тому
In today’s video, we have ourselves a no cool call. No matter what the customer did with the thermostat the system would not operate. My initial thoughts were right to the thermostat, that it was the issue because once I jumped it out from the control board in the air handler (instead of jumping it out at the thermostat), I would’ve known that. It was not my initial thought. So after diagnosing...

In today’s video, I was running the last call of the day. On arrival it was pouring down rain. Unable to check the size of the capacitor for the unit. In today’s video, you’ll find a repair that went wrong on something pretty simple. Just part of the game we play when we go to work every day. Great video
Much appreciated 🙏
how long to these dampers usually last????
I’ve seen them last multiple years no issues and I’ve seen them fail within a year on new construction homes
Yada yada dude
😂
Lmao 😂
What part of Florida do you live in? I’m currently doing hvac in Ohio and thinking about moving to Naples Florida to continue doing it but I need to know how bearable the heat is during the summer.
I’m in central, west of orlando about 75 miles in from the gulf. The summers suck for sure. Just expect 90+ degrees and probably 100% humidity morning-day-night. I’m originally from Maryland and the summers were about the same, only difference is when the sun goes down there’s a break up there. But it can be brutal but it’s great. Depends how well you are with the heat now.
Impact rated steel is SOFTER than chrome vanadium steel. Everybody thinks its the other way around but the forces at play with impact guns tend to break harder steels. They make them more pliable in order to resist breaking. There is an old saying, "which is stronger the oak or bamboo?".
Right on good call!! 🫡 thanks
That’s why there are a lot of pistons in some of the older units. People get lazy and don’t install them and leave piston in place.
Very true! I’ve seen a lot of techs just remove the txv all together
Which should i buy old version or new blackout version because theres about £60 difference. Is it worth the extra £60 for blackout ?
I love the blackout more then the OG, the pivoting handle and the VSwap is a game changer imo 👍
@@KoolinwithKrauss if you dint use vswap would you still get black out or og ?
250 to 350. I try not to get close to the 450 because it will mess up the plug and leak eventually the weakest point of the whole system.
Solid point!! I don’t want to risk that either that’s why I like to keep it low, unless you just can’t find that bastard 😆
I pressure test both at 250
Solid call, I conquer 🫡
Krauss in the house!! Love the videos. Low side pressure is what I go with.
Yoooooo!!! What’s up Dan-Oh 🫡 I agree
Hey Jake between Lennox and Carrier Evp. coils they are keeping you busy. lol Great video.
You ain’t lying 😅 but I will say the majority of new build within the past 5-10 years is Lennox and carrier so I’ll give them … SOME benefit of the doubt, but damn 🤣 😆
Nice job ... Thx
Thanks as always Eduardo 🫡
Good to see a bulkhead in the van protecting the headski. Thanks for the video. Get healthy and stay safe out there.
Plans to seal it more, that’s just some scrap wood, I’ll get a nice partition eventually 😆 thanks brother good to hear from ya!!
@@KoolinwithKrauss Scrap wood does the job. Do what you can when you can.
Love taking the service valve caps off and finding leak lock
@@HVACGUY see that shit?! 🤣 after I freed it up tried to use my hands to get it undone, but NOPE 🤦♂️
I usually go on the low side of the pressure to test it. I have had situation where the original installer burned the valves and nitrogen leaked back into the system. That was a rough one to figure out. I had to recover everything and then pressure test with the valves open.
Whoaaaa that’s a good point, especially when you encounter something like that, and then it’s always in the back of your mind!! Good call
I ruined the charge in a new Goodman system like that once. Nitrogen pressure kept dropping, turned out the low side king valve wasn't completely closed from the factory, allowing the pressure to overcome the factory holding charge. Had to recover and recharge. Ever since then, I will just pressurize to 150 on a system with a refrigerant holding charge. And I make sure I can't close the valve any.
That is so stupid that they wouldn’t just either braze that in or make it a 1/4” port connection with a flare.
Such a pain in the arse 🙄
Would you ever replace a coil and not replace the TXV, if only due to possible contamination? You'd think Carrier would already have it nicely attached...
It would be fantastic if it was preassembled. But only way would be in it’s out of warranty and the cost maybe, can always just build it into the cost. But sometimes it’s that hundred or so that makes a difference
Talk junk about Lennox, but it comes with the TXV and drain pan attached. Unlike Trane and Carrier.
Yup but hell Lennox has to provide all that as often as they leak 🤣 their only saving grace is
@@nhfdtb Lennox is way superior to Carrier
@@dumptrksyour high
Trane also comes with pre installed txv and pan, it's been like that for the past year or so. At least on the TEM6 air handlers
@@dumptrks boooooo 😆
Oh and I hate those carrier coils it seems like they leak and then are way more difficult to swap . Love seeing the good ol DA sticker in the beginning of the vid 😂
Bro it’s a pain a the arse!!! And you have to buy each piece individually if you want it nice and easy 🤦♂️ That’s up there in Heathrow my guy 🫡 yall all up in there, right down the road from Mr del airs estate
@@KoolinwithKrauss that house is unbelievable. His wife still lives there after bob died . I’m one of the only techs allowed to maintain those systems at his house .
@@noahbaggett9037 it looks like it for sure, that’s pretty awesome man, shows the type of guy and tech you are 🫡
I go around 200 to 300 usually let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes then vacuum and let it sit 10 no drop and good
That’s a good procedure!! You find that you pull it down to fast but there’s still some moisture in the line?
@ yeah I always let it sit if it goes up I let it sit a bit more . But I always pull way below 500 usually around 200

CX34 coil leaking
A leaking Lennox evap coil......nooooooo....lol....they always leak
😆 man I tell you what 🤦♂️
Also find it an inconvenience. It would have been much better to be able to pull the sockets through.
Nice work man really don’t waste your battery on a Lennox you already know 😊
🤣 sooo true!! Should have known!
From my experience i feel like carrier residential evap coils are the most reliable coils besides their txv’s lol i don’t remember the last time i went to carrier to pick up a evap coil.
Stay tuned, carrier coil coming in hot!! But I do find carrier coils to be on the upper end of reliability compared to other manufacturers and especially at the rate I encounter their equipment
Lennox pulled outta Australia 🇦🇺 a few years ago Used to install heaps of their single speed ac (add on) units typically the tsa outdoor condensers and ch33 c and d coils onto gas furnaces down here Used to be fairly reliable but before they pulled out of aus we were getting so many evap coils leaking out of the box and condensers with low/no base charges…shameful
That’s wiiiild!!! Was it Lennox decision on government to kick their 🫏 outta there?! I recall when I started they were definitely very reliable and a top manufacturer
I still like my cheaper version of that inficon leak detector. I’ve never not found the leak with it.
Solid!! Gotta having something reliable, definitely enjoying the inficon lineup
I won’t tell anybody shhhh mums the word Haha
🤣
Leaky Lennox
😅 indeed
lennox sucks replaced so many coils every no cool low on charge come on
It’s just a given at this point 🤦♂️
Leaky Azz lennox.
Per usual 🤦♂️
Great job Krauss How much for replace a compressor of 5.tones
Oh that depends on warranty status!
Nice job & vid Jake ... Thx
Thanks for watching Eduardo 🫡
Great job Jake. Not a fan with Lennox.
Appreciate it man, sadly neither am I at this point!
If Dave Lennox was alive today he would be absolutely disgusted at what they’ve done to his legacy… Absolute shit boxes…Lennox units from the 80s through late 90s were absolutely bulletproof other than the occasional evap leak or outdoor run cap or fan motor.
That is the absolute truth sadly!! I feel if you’re a contractor willingly and knowingly selling that shit, your scum! Only if your the owner because they must be giving them some bad ass rebate incentive and labor warranty knowing the high failure rate In my option of course 😆
