Excellent video. Probably the best video in how to return serves in double. Returning serves in doubles is crucial in winning points. As most people play doubles, this is a very useful video.
Wow, thanks very much for the great feedback, it really means a lot to us. We have such fun doing the videos and pleased to see they are being received well. 👍
Just like playing sports, patience & humility could be the essence of learning & listening experience from others. Informative & constructive video👍 Keeping up the good work. Cheers! Lovely day😊
it's a good video that covered a lot of points. i would emphasize that the goal of returning the low serve is to intercept at the tape, and small compromises like standing even a few inches behind the service line can greatly reduce your effectiveness. for this reason you cant separate the effective return of low serve from the ability to handle the flick, and the only way you're going to build confidence in returning the flick is to practice a lot, preferably with a coach who can help you fine-tune your reply on the issue of leading with your racket or non-racket leg, from the service line there is simply no reason to believe one gets you to the shuttle earlier. try both and pick the one that works for you
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such positive feedback, it really means a lot to us. Great to have you as a subscriber. Make sure you check out our other videos 👍
Thanks for such an informative video..Really appreciate it. I always struggle with returning the serve ..this will definitely help. I suggestion..it would be if you can display a summaries version of pointers ..that will help to grasp the topic.
Thanks for the positive feedback, pleased to hear you enjoyed it. Let us know how you get on with the tips. Thanks for the suggestion as well regarding the pointers, something we can consider with our videos going forwards.
Great video, something I try to remember (and tell others) is to think "heel up, knees bent". Being flat-footed negates any explosive potential in your calves. Locking your legs straight is a great way to lose a point too, so ensuring you have some bend in your knees and heels/calves primed allows those of us who are slow to respond or beginners a real surge in almost any direction.
thanks for the detailed video. If receiving on the even side (right handed), do you also stand 2/3rd away? In that case how do you tackle the flick serve to the backhand?
Pleased you enjoyed it. I think you’re referring to the side that we showed in the video but instead of the flick going wide, it goes down the middle of the court. Your position would stay the same, the only time it may change is if the flick down the middle is happening a lot and may help you cover it more moving slightly toward the middle. If staying in the same position think about your racket coming more round your head to get behind the shuttle quicker and have a big diagonal push with your feet towards the middle line. Use a quick, short and compact hitting action will give you the best chance of hitting a quality shot. Hope that’s makes sense, thanks for watching.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes we have listened to the feedback from others as well, this was one of our first videos and have adapted our presentation style since this release. Pleased you still found it useful. 👍
I have a question on the return of serve. What options do I have when the serve comes in fast and flat over the net? Playing against higher-level players, their serve tends to go over the net like a fast drop. My current play is either to let the shuttle have a little longer flight time and hit, but that sacrifices myself to move forward and play a pressure shot (drive or mid-court push). Or flat lift since the serve was already coming in a downward angle and I am not able to play a flat drive. Of course, there is a high lift but I tried to avoid that option. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the great video.
Thanks for the question and pleased you enjoyed the video. We would always recommend still moving to the shuttle and stretching your racket out to make contact as early as possible. This will cut down the reaction time of your opponent. You could try hitting some softer returns to the net or mid court which means the shuttle won’t be travelling in an upward trajectory as long. Hope that helps, let us know how you get on

I have a question? Can we receive a serve moving to the other part of the court before returning the shuttle Is this legal? Like a persons serves and can the receiver move to the other side to return the service. Hope you understood my question
We think that would be ok as long as they are standing In the correct side of the court when the serve has been hit. This does seem a strange thing to be happening though, has this happened when you are playing?

Hi, thanks for the comment. We discussed racket leg vs non racket leg in the video, if you go to 7.55 mins you’ll find this information. Hope it helps and thanks for watching 👍
@@rahathossain4321 the idea of coming down the handle for clears and smashes is in effect to make the racket marginally longer to gain more power, the difference is really minimal, we would recommend making sure everything is as good as it can be technically first before worrying about moving the grip up and down the handle. Hope that helps
1. Good detail but probably tried to cover a bit too much material for one video. Would be nice for each subsection summary to have captions on screen to emphasise the key points. 2. Can change the video title to “Return doubles serve like a pro”. All the best.
If you go to 13:25 in the video we talk about turning the shuttle across the court. We covered the hard return to the corner but the tips will be similar for the softer shots as well.
