Just realized the pipette lance is not glowing once. That means Shalltear is not healing, presumably because she is taking exactly zero damage genociding the Quagoa.
Imagine she gets a single small cut that is then swamped by the amount of healing she would potentially receive.
If you watch closely all their attacks are basically running into a barrier of sorts. They're likely too low level to even do damage as ainz explained in his pvp match before

weaklings like them could never hurt her they're to low of level and I believe they created all the guardians with a protection spell that low level players couldn't deliver damage or something like that
The funny thing is, Shalltear isn't even capable of being exhausted, she's undead so she has unlimited stamina.
I thought she was a vampire or am I wrong?

@@yyoot9790 in the LN non of the guild members took any participation in the defense of the guild base. Most of the intruders were stopped at the 6th floor. And yes, non of the NPCs are considered raid bosses or get any buffs when they are in their floor. They are considered mid-tier in terms of builds with Demiurge being low tier, only Shalltear being in low-top tier, so beside her the other NPCs can hardly fight any of the good players in 1v1, let alone take more than one. We dont know what exactly is on the 8th floor so what i said above is for every floor guardian up to it.

I feel like the big thing with this is the difference in how Ains vs Shaltear/Aura handled it. Ains immediately showed how powerful he was by taking out the leader and causing the other dragons to submit through realization how strong he was. In this case, because they didn't show their strengths, the Quagoa kept asking why they didn't just show them how strong they were off the bat.
To be fair, there were like 20 dragons and 60000 Quagoa. Ainz should've captured all the dragons without killing because he needs them to grow in numbers. The Quagoa aren't needed for materials.
Riyuro was the strongest Quagoa by a country mile. For his kind, he's their Gazef Stronoff. White Dragon Lord was the strongest in his family, but not the point where he could singlehandedly dominate everyone else.

Ironically, Shalltear is just doing what Ainz told her to do. Don't give the enemy any indication of how strong you are until the last possible moment. Whoops.

Shalltear Spuit Lance: This weapon has a special ability that returned a portion of the damage dealt to heal the wielder. The healing ability of the Spuit Lance depends on the amount of damage inflicted upon a target. She can do it forever lol.

Its a shame they cut it so short, making the finale from that book kinda odd feeling.
Heck their leader actually gave a strong speech to the "heroes" before sending them in to embolden them.
Giving the impression he actually thinks they can win.
Then after they are charging in you hear him confessing he knows they are unable to win, and this is instead now a battle for survival, by throwing the least strong and dullest at Shalltear so the best of them can survive under their rule.
Its impressive he was able to reason during a time like that, let alone make such a tough set of decisions.
Choosing who gets to live and who to literally throw in the meat grinder.
My favorite part is how they hype up the difference between how tanky each of the special Quagoa are in comparison to the lesser type and they all end up blending the same.
i hope touchme shows up and scolds ainz for commmiting genocide and breaks the cake on how ainz build is actualy the weakeset. also id love to see the servants of nazarik have to choose sides on a divine creator vs crreator
@@soulsreaper7145 most would side with ainz as from the perspective of the rest of nazarick the others abandoned them. Probably only Sebas would side with touch me. Plus he'd probably get killed by Albedo's goon squad before he could even try. Especially without his gear.
@@generalgarchomp333 dont forget that each great one created a diffrent guardin and other then albedo that ainz messed with, they all feel a love/ connection to there real creator if they said that ainz locked them away to try to take control of them all for his own gainz im sure that most of them with that imprinted love would start to turn on him because they still havent gotten past the whole we follow all the creator beings equally thing
@@soulsreaper7145 only if it was their creator given they'd side with Ainz as their leader just after their creator. Plus they'd probably (especially albedo) would point out hat at least he stayed. Plus the entire reason they exist is literally to serve him now that the rest of the supreme beings are gone. So that's not even an argument against Ainz.
All the Frost Dragons admitting thier weakness and bowing down in service to Ains was purely GENUINE!!!!
It's funny because in the novel aura and shalltear never really gave the quagoa any hope of all of them making it out alive. Them surrending was just a bluff. And the leader knew it too because when the leader sent out the first squad and they all started to get massacred he was losing it.
That is putting the word "genius" very lightly, unless thou by that means something along the lines of "boring wish fulfilment"
Ains should have been able to defeat the dragon lord after a long and grueling battle doing which his allies held the others at bay from their duel to prevent them from interfering
The thing with this is that in the first season, Ains says that frost dragons were the strongest dragons and difficult enemies to take down, and then in this season, he just waltzes in and solos the strongest frost dragon in one attack. Felt like an anticlimax to save money by not animating a real fight
Everyone freaking out about Ains killing 70k with one spell and another 110k from baby goats, and here's Shalltear throwing 50k quagoa into a blender like it's a Tuesday
The Quagoa would've done worse to the dwarves.. the 2nd dragon was worse imo. Ainz didn't even try to reason with him since he wanted materials.

What Dynasty warriors would be like if they added splatter effects.
I didn't like that, in the novel it felt a lot creepier cuz he wrote there was no blood and the scene was surreal because of it just body parts, also they were really lazy this episode, they didn't draw the Quagoa leader at all how he was written and crammed half a book in an episode, they missed about half the fun part of the book (and this volume is one of my personal favorites since it reads like a fun adventure by Ainz)

This was Shalltear's big character moment. Redeeming herself in her eyes, as well as in the eyes of her superiors. It's amazing how she was able to keep track of the numbers. I know she's not an idiot like some people think she is, but gosh that is impressive.

Overlord in a nutshell
I actually appreciate the way they wrote the Quagoa. They realize they're severely outclassed and submit not out of fear but more so because it's the better strategy right now. They'll wait to bide their time and learn what they can

In the books it explains that the Quagoa leader would 100% have been willing to surrender immediately if the power of Shalltear was just demonstrated a little before hand. He was very rational and not overly prideful, hence their subservience to the white dragon lord.
The Leader has a special skill that makes the others imune to fear, the red eyes moment.
In the LN you can feel the sorrow when he say it, the desesperation
"You guys know I'm healing with each strike, right?"
She ain't even revining damage, shalltear is lv 100 and she has the thing of only lv 60+ enemies can damage her
I remember this volumen more dramatic in the LN, not a bad adaptation. but running a lot!
The emperor Jirniv and the Quoga leader will be best friend forever LOL, in the saint kingdom chapter they are like a comedic duo

Was way more dramatic in novel they even skipped the use of the world item aura used.

Reading this part of the novel made me feel so bad for the Quagoa, they were nearly genocided during their "golden age" and the leader had to tell his own men to cull their children to get the correct numbers Ainz and co wanted, it was so sad.
I mean...they specifically said 60,000. You sure you aren't using survivor numbers?
Shalltear standing on a mountain of bodies in probably one of the sickest sets of armor ever just screams badass.
It gets even worse when you know Riyuro ordered his own men to slaughter the children in the back to cut down to the correct numbers. Absolutely devastating mentally. I was impressed at his actions, horrific as it may be it needed to be done for the species to survive.
While Ainz is at fault, people disregard how poorly Riyuro's handled the conversation. If he had actually pushed Shaltear for a small show of strength this wouldn't have happened. If he had outright said how do I know you're stronger? Or we will obey if you are indeed stronger. Then I don't think the massacre would've happened. Either way great episode, had me giddy.
He actually asked literally "are you strong?" and Shalltear like: yeah, now die. And killed a bunch of 'em, they were willing to serve under them, but wanted to know how strong Ainz was
Shalltear didn't really give him the option of asking for a show of strength. But he should've been able to guess that something was off for two people to just casually walk into what was effectively their military base despite seeing the numbers they were up against (even more so when they made a clearly hostile order to him). Even if he didn't directly see their strength the smart move would've been to claim to submit, then wait and see what happens. If he had done that he would've seen Ainz coming in riding a Frost Dragon and realized what he was up against. If instead he was up against weaklings it would've been easy enough to betray them afterwards. This is in contrast to Ainz, who is perfectly fine with even kneeling and begging before an opponent if it means gathering more information for an eventual counter-offensive.

About anyone on Ainz's team really. They needed to see how much stronger Ainz's team is before submitting to them.. they only saw 2 golems that they think their leader can beat.

Ainz kinda messed up with his order, he was too vague.

that's way too vague, "show them the might of nazarick" can range from a show of intimidation to this.
Aura and Shalltear are neutral evil and VERY EXTREMELY chaotic evil respectively, so when given their order they were not inclined to be naturally "kind and reasonable people".
Ainz essentially sent two terminators to handle diplomacy.

That's the difference between him and Hejinmal, one is smart enough to tell if someone's powerful enough based on looks and demeanor while the other needs to have it shown. It's why Hejinmal was recruited to serve under Aura and was even given the courtesy of having his mom spared. Riyuro should have known the flying chick in full red armor wasn't bluffing.

I’m pretty sure shaltear is killing a lot more than just 10,000 quogoa. Remember she was ordered to spare 10,000. There were several times more of them
Technically 10,000+ is still accurate if she killed 50,000

Ngl i kinda lost interest in this series because its just Ainz and company just going around slaughtering everything without even trying. Just got boring

Title misleading, it's actually over 50,000+. They were told to reduce the Quagoa numbers down to 10,000 if they refused to surrender, the Quagoa leader said it'd be hard to surrender with over 60,000 Quagoa under his command. Assuming the Quagoa is a completely warrior race, ie even the women and children are capable fighters, then Shalltear killed just over 50,000. If that is not the case, then the number is likely closer to 2.5x times that, maybe more if the children are born in litters.
Shaltear played the wrong game. She played Dynasty Warriors instead of an RPG. LOL

Honestly, this wasn''t even a workout for Shalltear. Counting the number of quaggoa was probably more of a challenge for her.
This is just another example of how ridiculous the entire anime of Overlord is.
It is not funny or entertaining to see a character that is that op. Nor is it realistic based on the premise that it should be made of a game. PvE battles must be challenging, victory always in doubt
Well, he didn't get transported into the game. His game character got transported to some random world where the main population is extremely weak. However, fighting isn't the premise of the show. It's politics and kingdom building. Each novel is 95% talking and maybe one quick fight at the very end. In some novels, there's no action at all.

What is so ridiculous about this is that a single human wouldn't even be able to win a battle with 50 thousand ants.

Ants can't make such a strategy against humans because they are too dumb, but the thing is, the people in this world are just as smart as Ains and his group of monsters.
So this goes beyond ridiculous, there is no power balance that great it is inconceivable.
And anyone with such overwhelming force could conquer the world, it would not be difficult at all.
@@rphb5870 The thing stopping ainz from simply conquering the world is the idea of there being other players. Shaltear getting mind controlled in season 1 by a Ygdrassil game item scared Ainz into believing other players are out there. He already knows that the six gods the people in the new world worship were actually just six players. Every move he makes is calculated with the fact another player might intervene. Also, conquering the world was never ainz plan to begin with. His subordinates pretty much came up with that on their own, and Ainz is simply following along. Ainz told demiurge it might be fun to conquer the world as a joke. However, his subordinates take every word he says as law and began plans for world domination. When Ainz learns his subordinates have detailed plans for world domination, he simply chooses to go with it rather than looking stupid.

The shalteer incident was the only indication that there would be other players out there. Being cautious is one thing but they havn't made any other move.

He should have trouble because they should have made more moves.
This is starting to look like the whole shalteer incident was just a misunderstanding and not actually the result of a power at all.
A better show is something like how not to summon a demon lord because there we actually get some proper interactions and some challanges.
Victory is not a certainty for our protagonist.
Now a protagonist of a story always ends up winning in the end, but the point is that he or she still needs to be challenged it must be put in doubt, otherwise their victory wont mean anything.
it is kind of like having a team of NBA all stars fight against a group of kindergarten students.
It still shows that Pe Riyuro is a wise ruler Quagoa.

Facing an enemy that's quite literally mowing their kind into giblets, and they're willing to climb up a several-stories-tall mountain _of their dead brothers and sisters_ to fight her?
I was gonna call them loyal and determined, but typing that, no, they were just deadass stupid.
It's not like they had a choice .Shalltear was ordered to spare only 10000 so even if they run she will hunt them down until the job is done
What they really missed out on was the animals killing their own. They lost and had to off their own till the reached the 4k 4k and 2k amount specified

It shows how easy it is to go down the path of Ainz when you watch this episode and think it's wholesome how Shalltear was able to atone for her previous mistake and win back the approval of the person she cares most about.

Actually, the quagoas where 8 clans of about 10000 strong each, numbering roughly 80000. Even if many of those were not warriors, it is safe to assume that their army was several times larger than 10000, so ''Shaltear vs 10000+'' feels a little too unprecise
How it feels to play a dynasty warriors game:
The terrifying thing is... Shalltear literally could have fought billions of quagoa and it would have made no difference, it just would have taken longer.

To be fair, the situation was a little bit different with them. They had a much better idea of how much stronger Nazarick were. For the Quagoa, it was kind of an out of nowhere thing with no time to prepare or respond.
Remember that she's a vampire that feeds on the blood of her enemies.
In theory yes, one could get exhausted by fighting tens of thousands alone. Her weapon though, feeds upon the corpses.
Just an extremely unlucky matchup.
She probably turned off her blood drinking powers, since they drive her crazy, and the job she have needs restraint.
In theory it's IMPOSSIBLE for her to get exhausted because she is undead

honestly a much better use of the 3d animation compaired to the kingdom massacre, mixing in 2d more still frame and hiding the subpar 3d animation with particle effects and blur. best way to use 3d animation if your on a budget.

as a metal gate, why did ainz have to use the world class item? seems like a sufficiently strong spell or shalltear, or ask the frost dragons for the key would have sufficed

The number is irrelevant given her power compared to theirs. Could been a million or a billion the result be the same. A level 100 vampire who doesn't tire killing average enemy level on mid to low teens. She could have sat there and activate an aura that did the killing.
She couldn't even be hurt given negation to any type of damage unless a certain level. So she was bored slaughtering those that came to her as she didn't want to get blood frenzied and mess up like she did way back.
CGI in this was pretty decent for Overlord standards

I just noticed the funniest thing is that they aren't even damaging her at all. Since her barrier is the thing that will just reduce the nullify the damage to 0 since they are too low level.

There wasn't supposed to be any blood because her lance sucks it all up, in the novel the Quagoa are even amazed by the lack of blood.
1:25 great use of mixing 2D and 3D. the focus is on the larger body parts, which are 2D, and then you fill in the background with 3D to make it more brutal, but not the main focus. The blur effect also makes it harder to notice the 3D.

I think the saddest part about all this was that the leader actually had a good head but the difference in power was simply too great. When his men got back saying they retreated, I figured he would make a hissy fit about why they retreated but instead, he took the information to heart and started planning accordingly. Even against Shalltear, the enemy was different than what he thought so he decided with diplomacy first. And in his eyes, why would an army of 80,000 yield to 2 people? And quickly after the slaughter, he realize there is no way they could win and started selectively sending who would go to their death knowing there is no way to win why raising morale (cause you know, no one wants to be told they're in the 7/8 of people selected to die).
IIRC the novels called him the greatest leader the Quagoa had in their entire history, so this was their golden age and the strongest they've ever been. Now they've lost like 80% of their population and are under the rule of a being so powerful they know they'll never rise up again.

War crime based on what laws? This is a world where only the strong survive. If Ainz hasn't shown up, the Quagoa would have annihilated the dwarves to the very last, taken their minerals, then kept on with their secret plan of trying to overthrow the Frost Dragons.

You know, it's quite funny how Maruyama have tendencies to write, how are some these original political leaders amazing and cunning. Pe(that quagoa leader) is according to him equivalent of Ghinghis-khan in New world. And you know what? I don't care. If someone is equivalent of Ghinghis-khan, he should be a serious threat. But Pe and nobody from New worlders are not threats(and no, even Zesshi is not). They are just meat to grinder, and Mayurama won't leave them at least an advantage of intelect. Ainz and his gang are OP both physicaly and intelectualy. There suppose to be an 17 novels to end of franchise, Mayurama last year finished 14. And there were absolutly minimum of threats. Not physical, not political. Just showing how OP Nazzarick is and how wannabe charismatic Ainz is. And this is not good sign of story writing.
It is good story writing though. Author was able to make a good story despite having an OP cast.

Remember fight vs Ainz, where she showed 100% of power and losed. She was not realy stronger in this fight. So against Quagoa she just did not use spells, but she used all power and speed she had (to do it faster),
@@АльбионФармер she lost because Ainz was a superior strategist and had cash shop items, she is easily the strongest in Nazarick in terms of PvP capabilities due to her specialized 1v1 build and would've easily defeated Ainz in a regular fight if she wasn't so arrogant which Ainz himself admitted

CG aside they did a pretty good job adapting the shall it blend portion of the novels. There were only like one or two things I'm sad are missing and they essentially showed the panel of Shalltear blending them casually pretty well. At least in comparison to splat.

Up till now, Im kinda disappointed of the season. The animation is a notch downgraded, the action scences are less than they used to be (like Troll, Dragons, Qualgoas died too fast). Storytelling is ok, but I hope its not politics ranting till the last episode ...
