At around the 1:00 mark there is a moment of silence. I’m not sure what happened, but it goes back to normal in about 10 seconds! Sorry about that!

I'm a Brit & the Ford Edge is an incredibly rare sight over here.
Forget BMW X5's & Range Rovers etc. If you want exclusivity, drive a Ford Edge.
I purchased my Edge Titanium after 9yrs ownership of a Ford Kuga which I loved.
The Edge is better in every way!
Even the 8 speed automatic gearbox has convinced me that autos are the future.
We have a small, powerful, lightweight, 2 seater convertible as well with a manual gearbox. It's fantastic fun if a spirited drive is the order of the day?
But I never feel the need to rush around in the Edge. It takes me from being an ageing boy racer in the convertible to a total gentleman in the Edge. I'm happy to waft around in almost silent luxury. As you Americans say "Good Job" Ford! 🙂

The interior of this vehicle to me is its highlight. I can't stand all the massive detached cheap looking displays in modern vehicles today, and I can honestly say I will NEVER buy a vehicle that doesn't have it's center display nicely molded into the dash. That was easily the worst design change that manufactures have ever done to vehicles, and thank god it's finally being reversed in several 2023 and newer models.

We purchased a 2020 Edge SEL this past March. My wife and I are tall and calorie challenged, so we wanted something larger than our 2018 Mazda CX5 was. As far as my wife and I are concerned, its the best looking, best equipped, and safest SUV available with adaptive cruise, cross traffic alert, and lane keeping assist. Door openings for larger people is right on target. Won't go into all the reasons we like the car which are numerous, but we'll give it a 4.85 out of 5 stars for a couple of things I do not like. Why not a 5? The car was designed with a weird hump where the drivers left foot rests. Makes it impossible to find a comfortable place for your left foot on long trips. Can't figure out why Ford would do something weird like that on almost a perfect car! Next thing I don't like are the windshield wipers. They wipe the windshield opposed to each other instead of together. With a huge windshield, seems like it take too long for the wipers to complete a cycle. May not bother some, but bothers me. Those two items are the .15 stopping it from being a 5 star car.

Ford's combination keypad is nice, but these touch buttons are useless if it rains.

Seriously considered the Ford Edge (ST) about a year and a half ago. I liked it. The 2.7L V6 turbo is quick for the category, at least in a straight line. But the family SUV is my wife's daily driver and she was much less impressed. Among her complaints (and I shared them) were the fact that the "50 Shades of Gray" interior was seriously unimpressive and the fact that the the space between the front of the dash and the base of the windshield made her feel like she was in the stern of a very long outboard while driving. Getting an idea of where the front wheels were located was a guessing game.
As for price, like many Fords (and GM products) the MSRP is a fantasy. Actual offers for the top trim Titanium and ST models in my area (Pacific Northwest) are up to $8000 less than MSRP. That puts the real world price of each at several thousand dollars less than $40K. For Ford fans it might well be worth considering if the other weaknesses aren't deal busters.

The Ford Edge will be discontinued in 2023. Production of the Lincoln Nautilus, which is built on the same platform, will be transferred to China. The Oakville, Ontario plant, where they are both made, will be converted to produce 5 electric vehicles. The Canadian government has committed to provide $500 million in funding for this conversion, thus keeping the plant open.

I'd rather get an Acura RDX comparably priced. I'd get the comfort of reliability, a loaner car if my car needed service, fresh styling and of course, driving an premium nameplate (for the same price as a loaded Edge).

As someone who likes to work on my own car, that battery placement is terrible. Good luck replacing it in a pinch.

Unfortunately the 2021 Ford Edge has no official release date in the U.S. No dealership currently carries it and they have no idea when it will arrive...speculation that the Canadian plant closure has Ford cutting production of the Edge!

they're starting to show up in dealerships right now as we speak the 21s the reason they weren't coming out is because there was a computer chip shortage because of covid b*******

Who uses regular fuel instead of premium? I know the power is rated for premium but I'd guess is the vast majority use regular. I'm looking at cars and I'm not buying premium for at least 25% more per gallon

  • @tmosley75

Nice review, good job! Was interested in getting into an Edge (lease is up on my ‘17 Fusion) but the dated interior kills it for me 🥴. Word is the ‘21 will have a more updated 10” screen and interior but it’s anyone’s guess as to when it’ll be available. Also looking at the VW Cross Sport and the Acura RDX.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  3 роки тому +1

Thank you! Yeah that interior is a bummer, wish they would update it more.
Those are both nice options in different ways. Out of those two I would say RDX, but the A-spec version I drive had a stiff ride, otherwise I liked both of those. Fun choice you’ve got coming up 👍
