I was the manager for a department store and when we threw away stuff it was all to be ripped up before we put them in the trash. I finally got the main office to let us donate to the women's shelter. A much better use.

@@simrankaur-nn9vr It was store policy. That's all I was ever told. Years later, after I took a better job, they stopped donating. The new manager didn't want to bother with it. Some people just don't care that much for those less fortunate. Very sad.😒
We grew up very, very poor in the appalachian mountains of WV. Mom always made sure we had clothes, but it was always the bare minimum. She made them because it was so much cheaper. But she went without everything her entire life for her kids. And I know there are loads of that still happening all over the country.
@@patriciahazeltine9986 all they'd (Old Navy) have to do is take the tags off because, despite Steph finding what looked to be a washed jacket- Old Navy does not accept *any* returns that are worn, washed, not in the same condition as when purchased and above all without tags. They don't even accept perfect condition anything after 45 days even with a receipt!
I don't get it either...if you must then slice a tiny cut into the lining inside then it can still be worn if found and not returned or better yet DONATE 🙆 I have zero reasoning for blatant waste 😣
The world is getting nasty. I had my Craigslist add removed over and over again after asking for help putting together boxes for the homeless this Christmas. My mailbox was full of such hateful things saying things like they need to work like the rest of us and mean things. I'll never use Craigslist again but it breaks my heart that we actually have people like that living in this world.

Michaels art supply store has lots of home decor items and they do $200 bags for $10. $100 bags for $5 during seasonal inventory, but they also throw out a lot. I'm 100% with y'all about being super irritated with these big companies n how they'd rather throw perfectly salvageable items in the dumpster than donate them to shelter's or the boy's and girl's clubs !!! I worked for DG in NLR Ar n that's what my store did with clothing, donated to boy's and girl's club and shelters. My store also donated food products to pantries near by. Hopefully you're able to salvage some of that 😊👑

It should be against the law to destroy and throw away clothes, food and other functional items when there are poor people who needs it, good that you save the things from the landfill and donate. As of right now I’m using the buttons, zippers and cloth for crafts and quilting but I’m starting to get overwhelmed with how much they slash. I do get lucky and get a bag that’s perfectly normal which leaves me questioning why they are thrown it away. I’m located about 25 miles north of Sacramento and feel lucky to have dumpsters that are not locked to dive in. Good luck and happy diving! 😊

When shirts are torn in the back get you a wide piece of lace and just so it but you would want to cut more of the material out and so the lace in the back I have one that I bought at the store and paid $80 for it and I love it
Stores could just make a mark on the inside of the clothes with permanent marker so they can’t be returned. That way they could be donated and nobody could bring them in trying to get money for them. It is disgraceful what they do.

Patches and thread are way cooler than the price of new pants, especially for bikers and climbers who rip pants all the time! I put lace inserts in shirts AFTER I slash them (because they are too small). You can make toddler pants and shorts out of adult jeans/pants. Y’all found some nice things, and had fun, too. Loads of animal ideas out of socks on Pinterest...I’m making a kitty.
7:30pm - Tuesday night, found a dumpster full of electric kettles, toasters, frying pans, & 4 cutlery sets still in boxes, new - nearly out of space for stuff in my big house, upstairs is full, i sleep downstairs, happy Thanksgiving, We love America, Cheers 🍹

I don't know if you guy's remember years back when the shirt's or pants had batches. When short's looked old but there weren't and we would take them and the part that was torned we would make different kind of patches on then and it was like a new style, will it's the same thing. I'm 62 and my mind is going back. There are lots of ways that you can save those clothes . Were there torned you can make like how do you say it, ok in Spanish we called it flecos, can someone help me with that word. Remember the hippies that made like a flower design or just keep cutting it up and had part of the shirt like the indians would put beads hanging. Help Im can't get the words. Helloooo. 7:30pm - Tuesday night, found a dumpster full of electric kettles, toasters, frying pans, & 4 cutlery sets still in boxes, new - nearly out of space for stuff in my big house, upstairs is full, i sleep downstairs, happy Thanksgiving, We love America, Cheers 🍹

I don't know if you guy's remember years back when the shirt's or pants had batches. When short's looked old but there weren't and we would take them and the part that was torned we would make different kind of patches on then and it was like a new style, will it's the same thing. I'm 62 and my mind is going back. There are lots of ways that you can save those clothes . Were there torned you can make like how do you say it, ok in Spanish we called it flecos, can someone help me with that word. Remember the hippies that made like a flower design or just keep cutting it up and had part of the shirt like the indians would put beads hanging. Help Im can't get the words. Helloooo. Steph and Amanda look it up.
