Most modern fragrances with patchouli use fractionated versions like clearwood with the more dank and musty portions removed from the essential oil. These versions smell cleaner and more transparent and if you don't like the head shop feel of, for example Lush Karma, you don't need to stay away from all perfumes with a patch note. Oakmoss (evernia prunastri) is banned in perfumery because it's an allergen. I love the smell, which to me is exactly like the damp, murky forest floor. Very Macbeth-witchy and fairytale-like.
Kvd sinner is definitely one of those dark mysterious perfumes, not only the bottle but it's a very heavy and dark. Tom Ford Black orchid one of my all-time favorites.
I dont find sinner that heavy at all. Its a darker perfume but not heavy. The projection sucks unless oversprayed but I think its ysl black opium cousin.
i love hearing people describe and talk about perfumes, they sound so delicious and luxurious. im not even someone who likes perfumes or body fragrance very much because my sense of smell is sensitive.
I have the Tom Ford Black Orchid, and I gotta say, when you spray it on clothing it lasts for literally days. And it is so much better when its just a lil whisper on your sweater, rather than a smack to the face when its at full strength. I highly recommend it for layering scents!

I feel like you might like Le Labo Vanille 44. It’s the city fragrance for Paris, and I got into it at the same time I started liking The Noir. Definitely very different from each other, but I feel like they are both more palatable warm, smoky scents.
Versace bright crystal is my favorite summer scent (it reminds me of the locker room smell at the natatorium where I swam as a kid...strange description I know but I love it) and crystal noir is my favorite cooler weather fragrance and I just ordered the juicy couture majestic woods on FragranceNet bc of your description...I can’t wait to try it! I feel like you might like Zara's Ebony Wood - not much complexity, more of a straight up unisex warm spicy wood. Super affordable, and Jo Malone is the perfumer behind the collection. They came out with a fig sent this year and the notes sound amazing.
Tom Ford Black Orchid gave me a horrible migraine when I tested it out, and I'm wondering now if it's because there are just soooo many notes. My favorite "dark" fragrance (and sort of a guilty pleasure) is Katy Perry's Killer Queen. I love the patchouli in it and it lasts on me forever.
I do own a full size bottle of Raven, I did buy it blind but on sale. The notes are the main attraction reason I do really enjoy it but definitely not for everyone. 🖤
These are my types of scents. :) As far as Tom Ford(and I don't know if you've tried these yet) I LOVE Noir de Noir & Noir Pour Femme. ;) I also didn't like Black Orchid at first but continued to wear it and something happened. lol Either my nose grew on it or it settled a bit more.....now I do like it.

I just put out my Halloween decorations yesterday, because Sept 13th is close enough...right? My favorite fall/winter/Halloween fragrance is Tom Ford's Black Orchid. I absolutely love love love it and look forward to this time of year so I can wear it! In fact, I just put it on before watching this video. My other fav for fall/winter is The Only One by Dolce & Gabbana. I can't get enough of it. I wear Dolce & Gabbana's The One in the spring and summer. They are two of my favorites in my entire collection. But yeah, the Black Orchid is intoxicating to me. I only dab a small amount on my wrists though. It's pretty strong and a few "normal" sprays all over would choke me out!
Black orchid is my daily scent. One spritz. Lasts forever. Not a girly scent, definitely a woman scent. I get compliments every day. But I think it just mixes well with my chemistry. But def not for everyone.
I bought a bunch of samples from le labo and I’m a little underwhelmed 😭 I liked santal and the noir but the rose one was horrendous and my dumbass bought patchouli 🤣

And i do love Rose Rouge and Santal Blanc from Van Cleef & Arpels aswell
Ooh I've been so curious about Heretic but did notice they have a lot of patchouli and musks in their scents. Which I have to be very careful with because musk and spice is comes right to the forefront on my skin. And patchouli can smell weirdly sout on me. But i like the idea of a woody smokey twist to some of those basic scents like coconut or vanilla. Sad.
You should check out Sage Machado's stuff, she's an indie perfumer and her scents are really unique and gorgeous. (my fave is Jade) Lots of woody scents.
I can’t figure out if I like crystal noir. I’m so back and forth. I got it from scentbird so it’s not a huge bottle and I wear it from time to time and the powdery notes just seem to stand out too much to me
I think my nose is busted. Im questioning everything. Vanilla Woods smells like a cedar cabin to me. A warm, comfortable cabin with vanilla baked goods inside. I feel gaslit by this fragrance because no one can smell woods... is it because I have a roller ball? I feel like im taking crazy pills!
The most unique perfume I have owned is Russian Caravan Tea by CB I hate Perfume. I liked smelling like tea shop. It had tea, woodsey notes and bergamont. There are a lot of base notes that I get tired of during the day so this was a great one for me. Getting it shipped to Canada is a pain as I think they a smaller perfume brand in New York
Try FB fragrance groups for your city/area! You can also check out local thrift stores, or if you are in the US try Mercari :) There are also lots on eBay but make sure you do your due diligence because there are also a lot of fakes out there!
I got the Versace crystal noir and I hate it because to me t smells like coconut. I like Noir scents because of the depth and sexiness which this does not five at all. It isn't like the original Bright Crystal at all so I int know why they made it a flanker.
Thai basil tastes like straight up licorice to me. When I’m eating Thai food I have to avoid dishes with too much Thai basil or I feel like I’m eating savory licorice, 🤮.

I bet that the violet, sesame and oakmoss are also contributing to that licorice scent in the Anvers fragrance! Thanks for introducing me to some new brands:) I have a few dark, mysterious fragrances, my favorites are Midnight Fleur by Nest, which is a woodsy vanilla with an amber base, and Fleur Narcotique by Ex Nihilo, which is a boozy, heady fruity floral with lychee and orchid.

Yes! I have Atelier Vanille Insensee and it is definitely a “summertime” vanilla. The lime and coriander keep it from being too sweet or warm

Yes! It reminds me of shampoo! Soapy, but specifically shampoo. Maybe a mix of chlorine and lotion, too. I just added Majestic Woods to cart, too! lol
