I love the place. You can buy tools, plants, fruit and veg and all sorts of other things for a fraction of the price. If you want the Coles, Bunnings and shopping centre experience and prices, go there. This is a market.
Laverton market used to be good. Back in the early 90s it was so popular. Always full on the weekends. People looking for parking. The stores were great too. Laverton now is neglected and run down. There used to be another great and popular flea market. Sunshine flea market. This was indoors. Sheltered. Had nice stores, you could get pocket knives, pellet guns. Unfortunately it shut down. I dont go flea markets. Its rubbish nowadays. Too many dodgy sellers too. Got an iphone screen repaired at the chinese vendors. Came back and my wifi wasnt working on my phone. They replaced my original parts to cheap third party parts from ebay. Dodgy. They never gave me a receipt at all. Now cant get warranty work.
Thanks for sharing your memories & experience. I didn’t know there used to be a flea market in Sunshine. It’s always interesting to hear how places change over time. And It’s really disappointing when you try to support local vendors, but end up getting ripped off by dodgy sellers.
@ it happens more than you know. I guess thats why businesses shut down after. They do dodgy practices rather than serve and please customers to come back for more
@@MelbWestExplorer I was taken to see a movie at Laverton Drive once, it would have been 1981 or 1982. I looked up when it was closed and that was in 1984.
In Queensland most supermarkets have canopy car parks for shade . Its about time these Melbourne Billionaire Supermarkets that profit Billions for their shareholders wealth Cash out for shade 😎 its not that difficult 😂😅😊
Hello from preston 😊 Many Preston local, love market days , Unfortunately our beautiful cultural diversity is at risk of massive redevelopment . The real estate is smack is the centre of Preston , 3 minutes walk to the city bound train , 21 minutes commute 😊. The battle to allow authenticity against the push of profiteering from selling space to those whom can afford and enjoy homogeneity.
Hi there! Thanks for sharing. It’s great to hear about the local love for the market! I’ve been to Preston Market a few years ago, but I can’t remember too much from that visit. I might want to explore Preston more in the future to see how things have changed!

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I was actually expecting something a bit more like Footscray Market, but maybe with a touch of that flea market feel.
Makes Footscray market look fancy and boutique 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Laverton Market use to be a drive-In cinema
Wow, I didn’t know that! When was it a drive-in cinema? Was it popular back then?
@ it was very popular during the 1970s in particular. Not sure exactly the year it closed but I feel like it was in the late 1980’s maybe earlier

That’s fascinating! It’s amazing how these memories stick with us. Do you remember what movie you saw that day?
@@MelbWestExplorer Not a clue. Oddly I think my only memory is that the ground was as uneven even then as it is now lol.
Hello, new to from Adelaide, dumpster diver....full support here 😊

Lavatory Markets have the best kranskis sold by the old Indian couple

Laverton Market is just rubbish
You are more than welcome to not come back
Your speaking voice is good, you should record rather than use text to speech
Thanks! I was feeling a bit unsure, so I used the text-to-speech AI voice. I'll definitely use my own voice in future videos.
Standards need improvement
The market is a shithole, much like the suburb itself! But cheap, the caravan park next door is real classy n all! Still nice lil video!
