A couple miles north of Dorn Beach is North Salmon Beach, myself and two others guys caught two striped bass each, biggest was 30" when cranking 115mm Battlestar jerkbaits, this past Sunday, 7/28
I appreciate all the love. As a bass angler, Im loving the adventure in fishing saltwater. Specially finding spots. Some bass anglers are full of themselves but so far everyone I've met fishing salt have been awesome. 🤙🏼🎣
outdoor pro in cototi is the only place i go. they dont have many heavy specialty rods but other than that they have evrything you need. would love to fish with you some day man. Am a sebastopololian.
Go to Doran Beach and once there, go all the way to the very back where you see the Jeti. Then it's just a matter of hopping those rocks. Be very careful though.
Basically a Drop shot rig with Squid or Shrimp, cast 5-15 feet from rock edge. Is also a Great way to catch off the Jetty. Oh and that first fish was a Black or Blue Rock fish, sec was definitely a Ling Cod. The seals usually only F*** with Crab cages. Welcome to the Jetty Fishing scene. 🎣 Fish On 🤘
I have seen some folks doing drop shots, which is my brother's go to finesse technique. I may try it but I love power fishing the swimbaits. I may try some sort of Neko rig technique. Btw, nice user name, lol. Thanks for the comment. Tight lines. 🎣🤙🏼
@@mrfilamfishing I hear ya, I'm more of a "active" fisher myself. Bait fishing tends to bore me. Have you ever heard of Poke Pole fishing? That's super simple yet effective on the Jetty! It is originally a Northern California style of fishing (if my bad memory serves me right). My buddy Tony and I were out there yesterday. (Bodega Head side) he poked and landed a 24" Monkey Face Eel that had to weight all of 4-5 lbs! Head on that thing was like a tennis ball!
@@incogbeanro I've heard of it but have never tried since Im new to this type of saltwater fishing. Would love to try it though just to see other techniques. An Eel? I wouldn't even know how to land that thing, lol. Hopefully we bump into each other out there and put you guys in the vlog.
Thank you for the tip. I truly appreciate it. I figured the swimbaits would snag more but as an avid bass angler, I didn't know much about this so thank you for that. 🎣🤙🏼
If you're going for Rock Fish and Lingcod, use the lures in the video. Any soft plastic swimbaits like a Keitech or Pitbull tackle will work. Put those on a jighead as shown in the video. Color wise, anything Green Pumpkin, Root beer or Bright green/chartreuse works best. When you cast, let it fall to the bottom then hop them along the bottom. But be careful not to get snag. Above all, have fun. Tight lines. 🤙🏼

How are your legs feeling? I went 30 yds on that jetty and was like I’m good on going further down. No joke about having good shoes and being careful. Good to see you grab something there. If you ever have the curiosity of crab snaring hit me up.

I own G-Loomis rods for bass fishing and I don't disagree with you. However, for most people that can't afford it, the Ugly Stick is very tough to beat for price to performance. The one you see in this video they no longer manufacture. It was made a while back with Fuji guides and Fuji reel seats. This is also my oldest rod and I own plenty. I have thrown many things at this rod and it just keeps on going. It simply won't retire. It's why I named this rod Chief. The highest enlisted rank in the USAF. 🤙🏼
@@mrfilamfishing Thanks for your reply, with that I must say ,I get it ,I had to buy 5 shakespear 7 foot ,4 lb to 10 lb line, because they were so light ,very sinsitive,I could feel a crappie thump a jig 30 feet deep on slack line. Not because they were 16 dollars!but because they were the only light line pole at 7 feet without paying over 150.00 .i have a g-loomis 7 foot ,now its worth twice what i paid,i still use it but rigging several poles up, saves time when changing tactics.anyway hope you get on some rockfish,I watched the video because I'm going soon, you should try nose hooked berkley gulp,hi ,low rig (dubble drop shot)😎
Those aren't good lures for rock fishing , you need a jig with a hoochie skirt on the hooks in florescent color then use sliced squid or sardines That works the best bro

@@BobbyOfEarth Hot damn. I need to try surf fishing.
Do you know if the stripers will still be in north salmon beach this December?
trick is to go as light as possible just keep you off the bottom. so if your bouncing at 3/4oz switch to 1/2oz
Thanks for the tip. I definitely learned not to go too heavy. Lol
Congratulations, brother awesome catch

Damn! I'm heading to Bodega Bay next week and going definitely fish off the jetty! That's a Nice Ling!

That Jetty on both sides is NO JOKE!!!
For real, I felt it on my knees ones I got back to the car.
Nice video. I used to fish that jetty tons when I was a kid. Late 60’s early 70’s. Nice green ling. They get that way because of their diet.
Thank you. Yeah, this was my first time rock fishing. Definitely not the last.
You gotta have the boys at outdoor pro shop spool you up with some 60 lb braid next time! 20 lb mono leader too about 2 yards
Since this video, I have done just that. I just wanted to experiment. But I see you know your stuff as well. 🤙🏼
Outdoor pro shop is the only place I go for my tackle, i'm in Rosa too y'all!!!
Outdoor is like Disneyland for us anglers here in the North Bay. 🎣
I got my first rod there about a month ago. They got me a nice beginner setup for the jetty.
