I suffer with tension from my face down to my lower back because of my desk job, poor posture and excessive jaw clenching (it's how I find comfort when resting) when awake and asleep. I will give you advice a shot and get back to you in a couple of days. God bless you.
This is great!! I pretty much ALWAYS have tension in my throat muscles and my vocal teacher just says to stop using my abdominals when I sing which I always find such difficult advice (especially with all the diaphragmatic breathing tutorials out there) the mum exercise made me feel so open and no strain at all! Wow!
Thanks a lot for the comment. That is the idea. To share a more vast way to think the voice approach. There is any kind of content that would be important for u? I am collecting ideas from the subs.
just keep practising and practising and you’ll find higher notes easier day by day , start with songs around D4-F#4 chorus for men and get good at that first forget B4 and all that for now , everyone’s in a rush , thinking about stuff will just hold you back listen to your voice as you sing and correct it day by day , do it again you’ll improve .
That is a fantastic advice and a great way to improve. U are correct. I am sharing here using my experience as teacher. Ur description is a method in it self, and that is great and I am 100% sure that works also! Thanks a lot for the comment. Really appreciate that!
This has been amazing! Just what I needed. Can you make more videos about this? More exercises, I need to strengthen those muscles that keep the throat open. I feel like I lose the space very easily during a song and then I don’t know how to bring the palate back up unless I completely stop and start over again, which of course I can’t do in the middle of the song, so sometimes when it drops I have to struggle all the way to the end of the song… how do I keep it up all the time?
Wow! This is a very simple awareness that nonetheless never occurred to me---! I was always focused on space in the ribs/diaphragm mostly; and any space-in-throat considerations were always linked to manipulating the up-down/back&forth of the tongue and larynx, never BREATH as the tool for AWARENESS of throat space!!! It seems so obvious once it is spelled out, thank you. And what a simple way to maintain relaxation.😊❤
Somehow the TY algorithms brought me here. Great instruction and video. I have one of those voices that is 100% perfect if you enjoy listening to fingernails scraping down a chalkboard. If there's money in that, let me know. lol I feel I have week vocal chords, because I'm a "quiet person". Not always, but I liken my "voice" to exercising any muscle. How does one stengthen week vocal chords? Is that how it even works? Do I need to send my vocal chords to the gym? lol
@@SingForReal I am a singer and wishing to be the best singer around the world 🤞as soon as I will start recording before end of this year because I have got few songs already and wants my voice to be so unique and special ever

@@SingForReal yes, along this line is singing with your most authentic voice and where you feel it in your body... how to stop mimicking and let your true voice out-thanks for your channel!
After doing these exercises for a few days now, I notice my sound is "trapped" in the back of my throat. Any suggestions for getting frontal resonance?
Thank you for the video. You mention that the larynx should go down when inhaling. I can do that, but when I sing in my head voice (as in your ma ma ma... exercise), my larynx goes up, and that seems to be necessary to produce sound in that range. Is that true, or was your larynx down when you sang in that range?
The idea is not to get it low, but to have it relaxed. To sing with a high larinx is not the main goal. The goal is to have more control over it and not squeeze while having it high or slightly high.
If i need to take a long deep breath to get the space, how am i supposed to do these exercises so fast, giving no time to take deep breaths and create the space?
Hi, If there is vibration in ur throat but no squeezing or tension. Does it count as singing via ur throat? For example when you sing low notes you have more vibration in ur throat area.
Vibration is normal and desired. The problem is just when we feel squeezing or too much tension or even worst (pain). But vibration is a good thing. Good job.
The vibration is literally your vocal chords vibrating. Thats essentially how the voice works, is by passing air through your vocal chords to make them vibrate. As long as nothing hurts, you're doing good.
When I do the breathing I can feel the air go past my throat. Is that the space we are talking about or the larynx going down- also the more I did it to more kind of dry my throat felt- am I do doing it right
I've been singing for over a decade and a half but I don't notice any difference. If anything, breathing deeply beforehand just makes me feel breathless and run out of air more quickly 😕
Hello, Thank you very much for sharing. This is exactly what i was looking for. My vocal range goes from D2 (C1 with fries) to C#5 but i struggle to reach those high notes without having to yell and to squeeze my throat. This really helped. I can feel the difference even after only 15 mins of practice. Its drastically smoother, less painfull, more in tune and so on. Now the only thing is that it requires a lot of air, and i find this difficult while singing long phrasings (especially high pitched ones). So if you have some tips to sustain/spare the air volume, i'd appreciate! (Secret goal is to sing this: ua-cam.com/video/PptQJv4wxdg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BrandonAcker) PS: I love your voice texture. Instinctively more than naturally. Do to the sensation of highs going up. Again the low larinx is not mandatory for any part of the voice, but to have it flexible and more under control yes!
@@SingForReal can you tell me one thing? From childhood i have spoken very low and people have told me to speak louder. Can it be a reason that my breath is lacking when I sing. My middle octaves are really locked. I can sing high but not glide from low to a bit high
@@dr.football4662 Hey, that is VERY typical. I do think it is not your breathing that is lacking, but voice technique. In this case your body doesnt know how to navegate between vocal registers or transitions (bridges or pasagios). I´ll be doing videos about how to start to open that mid range and how to adapt and learn about this trouble part of the voice. That is my main area of research as a teacher, so I PROMISE that it will be covered. Can I use your question to create the next video?

It feels a little better except when in passagio
The passagio is the trouble, right? We will work that out. Stay tunned.

I can do that, but when I sing in my head voice (as in your ma ma ma... exercise), my larynx goes up, and that seems to be necessary to produce sound in that range. Very good question.
With training we can control the larinx position even in the super high pitches. I am puting my larinx down for the exercise, yes.
The only question is how not to turn into opera singer with this gola aperta (open throat) and low larynx😃
The idea is not to get it low, but to have it relaxed. To sing with a high larinx is not the main goal. The goal is to have more control over it and not squeeze while having it high or slightly high.

feels better, but hey what if my throat hurts a little after that?
Hurting is NEVER good for the voice. If that hurts probably u are using more strength then necessary!
Yeah the background music is distracting, its all good you can lower the volume a little bit more
Got it. Probably not using for nexts.
Without that tension, can we still get the same high notes as we could before?
Yes. As aways it will require practice, but it will be higher and better than before.
@SingForReal thank you for the help. Hopefully this helps some of that tension
When I do the breathing I can feel the air go past my throat. Is that the space we are talking about or the larynx going down- also the more I did it to more kind of dry my throat felt- am I do doing it right
Maybe just doing too much (talking about the dryness). The space is the larinx coming down, softpalate rising and tongue relaxing.
I've been singing for over a decade and a half but I don't notice any difference. If anything, breathing deeply beforehand just makes me feel breathless and run out of air more quickly 😕
If u have already ur own way and it is not helpful just ignore. What I dont want is to desorganize ur voice.
