It’s great to see how well organised the Isle of Man steam packet company are in handling the numbers of bikes….and how fresh and modern the Fast craft Mannanan still looks at 23 yrs old , compared to the Pride of Rotterdam…..can’t wait to follow the videos through …..👍🇮🇲
Sorry mate, but the music was doing my head in. Too loud for the commentary. However. Good perspective on your TT and your enthusiasm was genuine and infectious.Cheers.
Hi to all, since 1982, I did 32 journeys from Berlin to Douglas and back. Yes, several times, I chosed Rotterdam.. Ijmuiden was nice with DSDF.. but the traffic near and around Amsterdam is just horrible. They build a new motorway construction and my longest que was 50 km.. nearly missing my depature..!! But, I chosed for the year 2023..the STENA LINE from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. It is already paid.. WHY ? I do not book or support P & O ferries anymore. Lots of their employees have lost their job from one day to the next day. P & O was unwilling to pay their people.. and shut the whole traffic down for some days..!! With that reason, I have cancelled my membership and high priced cabin. I had the Hamburg-Harwich ferry connection for many years, since 1982..easy ride from Berlin, only 300 km or 185 miles. From Berlin to Rotterdam it was 780 km or 485 miles...!! Well, lets see the STENA.. seems to be much better and in good shape. I rate DSDF 5/10, the P & O 7/10 and maybe the STENA much higher. I personally booked always the Premier Inn Birkenhead City Centre, located only 100 m away from the Mersey Tunnel across the Steam Packet Terminal Liverpool. Always very clean, parking is 5 bucks ( Not sure how much for bikes) but they have CCTV. A quiet area, a short walk to a nearby shopping mall. The Inn has facilities to give you breakfast, or dinner. Vending machines, too.. You can have morning breakfast, pack your stuff and after 10 minutes you reach the IOM-Terminal after the short tunnel ride..! Prices are 55 or 65 Flex.. ticket. I would book the same accomodation in Douglas, BUT they dont have their own parking lot.. I can highly recommend the Sefton Express across the Ronaldsway Airport. Great parking lot, meals, drinks, QUIET.. . Please, have a look if you are around, it has its exit at a roundabound just near the Manx Military Museum there.. Please, remember my words. I did Heysham in the 1980s, too. Horrible ferry, only warm place was the "Last Penny Pub" if you took the night ferry. Bikers hold their 1 and only pint for hours, guys laying on the floor to get some sleep. Outside.. COLD No facilities at the Steam Packet Parkinglot. You have to wait in freezin cold, till they opened the entry gate. There was nothing outside..!! The old ferry had only some seats for ladies and children and some old man. You have to consume something at the ferry bar or STAY OUTSIDE. People have to sit or laid on the iron planks.... NO joke In Liverpool, they directed you into a big hall.. and "stole" petrol from your fueltank into big barrels.. "Safety reasons" Poor lad, if you got your fuel from the nearest petrol station some hours ago.. (TODAY.. EVERYTHING is luxurious, warm waiting rooms, toilets, coffeemachines.. etc. powersockets etc.) I recommend the catamaran and ALWAYS the PREMIUM lounge, with a low number of seats. NO little children, school classes etc. Free non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, snacks... newspapers and magazines..!! If you need informations, perhaps I can help.. ballabegman@yahoo.de Wish you a safe journey for your future plans and hopefully, you come back.. Best regards from Berlin Nobby (Honda 750 K, Sevenfifty and NC 750 X DCT)
