    The Ares Inferno in Star Citizen a powerful combat ship which has had a fairly disruptive life in the verse. However both the Inferno and the Ion seem to be in a resonable place now. These ships look great and pack a punch for the solo player! But what do you guys think ? As always let me know down below!!

      Did Cig unerf both of the ares models and are they good now?

      If you want to have more fun wrecking people swap the missile racks for 515 and equip it with two Scimitar V torps, min lock distance is 50m if you get close enough people wont have the time to evade them and most smaller ships will get 1tapped ^^

    That was a fun day. I was in the Hercules, I saw an Ares and immediately decided it wasn't worth it haha

    To my understanding the major issue with the Ares chassi on release was that they had bugged main thrusters, giving them something like 20G forward acceleration(I don`t remember the excact value but i belive it was over 20G). This meant they could negotiate some terms of engagment when fighting other ships, this basically meant that they could do a pass, disengage, do another pass disengage and so on.
    Unfortunatly CIG was a bit heavy handed and fixed the thrusters, nerfed the alpha damage and removed aim assist.
    On the topic of The Corsair and why it has not recived the same treatment: It has the weakness the Ares was suposed to have from the start. You close in on it and avoid taking hits, then you can ride it to death because it is not nimble enough to recover ground when it first loses it.

      thats interesting, i cant recall the thruster issue personally but that does make sense in what you say. I do remember CIG mentioning something about the destruction of light fighters aswell which maybe is the reason they removed the aim assist. Either way im happy to see the ares back in fighting form. Thanks for the info.

      @@bolla999999999 thankyou buddy, i will always try top be positive because its easy to criticise anyone can do it. in my humble opinon it is much more worthwhile to find the best of a bad situation/scenario.

    7:03, pretty much yep. When the Ion launched though, the real issue was small fighters had no chance of getting around the Ion/Inferno before they blew up. Light fighter superiority comes from maneuverability, at least it did when I played from 2019-2022. Personally, it's nice to see this ship actually useable again. I don't want to dog fight with it, but I don't want to be completely helpless against 1 fighter of sub par skill.

    I got a place in my heart for Ares ships, they look great and the idea of beeing a lancer speaks to me.
    The Inferno for fleet battle, the right ship in the right place, on the right time and The Eon to massage the shield of a enemy capitol ship so we can enter it.
    I tought the Eon had a extra powerplant (like the original idea) but its a extra cooler and they have both 3,
    if the Eon gets the extra powerplant it would be my cup of tea.

    I love the look of the inferno but prefer energy weapons (an inferno with a laser repeater would have been amazing)

    Love this ship. I feel your desire to wait until master modes is in to put real work into improving. I can hold my own, but I dont want to spend a ton of time on dogfighting when its all going to be flipped on its head. Already had tons of fun with master modes test in arena commander. I think they will make something great out of it.

      i think master modes is going to be good from what ive tested. But for larger ships, this is where my interest lies.

    When will players realize you can't face tank an Ion or Inferno light and medium fighters need to use their mobility that they have over an Ion or Inferno. Get behind and stay stay there light and medium fighters can do this because they have the mobility over the Ion and Inferno.

    If we talking about solo combat ships as you show in the demotrations while fighting with the ARES, the Vanguards are not very good ships are just ok, the ARES ain't at all a good solo combat ship actually I think as many good pilots and competitive tester pilots is one of the worst combat ships out there, is hard to review a ship if as you said you aren't a good pilot or u aren't even trying to be, the ARES gets out manoeuvre easily by many many ships and is not a fast ship neither what it ends in get killed so easily by small or not that small dps burst everytime that happens. To attack a capital ship still gonna be better X number of bucaneers or F7C II 7A or even super than X number of ARES cause anyway aint that u gonna fight a capital ship alone, and without enough boost speed and manoeuvering a capital ship can just deal fine with ARES with the number of gimbal weapons/turrets so fire power they have in a even battle, meta now is more about boost speed, maneouvering and pure speed that fire power or durability of course when they add armour thats a different story that we can't imagine cause there is no info about how is gonna work but until we know i wouldn't recommend this ship to anybody, ain't fun a ship that gets u killed by a 3 times cheaper ships.

    Here's the thing though. An anti-capital ship weapon needs to be too inaccurate to effectively engage small targets. Without that, it's just pointless to use anything smaller. A fairly large amount of scatter doesn't matter for their actual purpose, because they will still hit large ships just fine.

      This depends on if you are balancing fighters against each other or against ALL ships. The dream world would be that they are balanced against both.
      I personally feel that light fighters should have a higher skill ceiling but no room for error. Heavy fighters should have a lower skill ceiling but more room for mistakes. If you get in front of an Ares or a Vanguard, you should pop practically instantly. You already fly circles around the heavies, why do you need their accuracy nerfed as well?
      It is hardly pointless to fly a light fighter, even with the pre-nerf Ares, they were definitely not king of the roost. They were just newbie stompers. No real aces were ever threatened.
      But it is honestly probably better for the game for them to be nerfed. It is already easy to troll new players. Don't need to make it easier.
