Not to go into too much theoretical detail, but i suppose the barrel of the laser weapons has something to do with the focusing lenses of the weapon's overall output, hence beefy barrel = lots of focusing lenses = yes, essentially more pew-pewey
Yeah, I was thinking something similar. It's not like gas pressure matters for a laser, so caliber is kind of meaningless since the "projectile" is not a piston. That being said, you could fit a higher-wattage laser into a bigger barrel and also better lenses- although realistically, if we are applying real laser logic, it would be a columnating lense so there isn't one focal plane that the enemy would have to graciously stand in to be shot. I guess big barrel > fat laser > focus lense > columnating lense > lots of pew pew. I am definitely thinking about this too hard...
@@S1L3NTSNA1L possibly, but I doubt it'd be the same as shotgun gauges, probably to the .1 gauge seeing as we are talking about glass or crystal lenses

Been playing SC for nearly 3 years, I like the p4-ar, coda pistol, fs9, and custodian. Will have to try out the fs55 for sure. Tyvm for this awesome video and info
Dude awesome video! Thanks for making it, I haven't even taken a close look at the guns and now I appreciate them even more now. Star Citizen has insane detail
I like how all of the weapons are good and there isn't really a bad choice, at least for PVE. I always just get the P4-AR and the P8-SC just because I know they work, but I should try more guns. This was a helpful video
This arsenal is wicked impressive when you compare it to Planetside 2. Perhaps fewer weapons (for now) but they are actually distinct in visuals and mechanics.
I find it highly amusing that despite the sci-fi setting, all these weapons aren't just styled differently but have actually companies behind them that stick to those styles like in Borderlands. I've been think about maybe jumping into SC with the Avenger Titan package but am still undecided as of right now. But at least I know that if I do get into it I'll get to see some really cool guns.
the titan is a nice ship, and so is the cutter. you can always start with the cheaper one and upgrade to ten more expensive ship, or wait for a free fly event
In lore of star citizen , most "Laser" weapons are actual super heated Plasma contained in a magnetic field. not sur if this is true on the hand gun side of things but it might be.
I agree to a degree. Many of the shots you are hearing are also in space. So you have to keep that in mind. And you have a helmet on, which will suppress and change the way the gun sounds. As with anything else though, they will likely do a full rework of weapon sounds.
I never liked future guns anyway. You'd think in the future guns would look slimmer and lighter. But no, they make very bulky heavily guns. Don't know why they do all that🤦🤦🤦. Well if I was making the game, I would say they're bulky because they have high tech mechanics that disperse push back and stuff which decreasing recoil and makes the guns more accurate. would still like them to be thinner, I mean look at the modern ARs, they're taking out as much as metal as possible and making light and tough alloys that don't effect performance. That should actually be what future weapons look like.
This video doesn't go a very good job of showcasing the sound design. Gunshots sound different based on environment, and whether or not you have a helmet on. It could absolutely be better, but for it being what I assume is a first pass, it's pretty stellar. I imagine in typical CIG fashion, it'll get an overhaul in the future. At the moment it's serviceable, and not super high priority.
@@yous2244 SC is very backwards in some aspects of its futurism. For instance, most ships have WWII style manned ball turrets. It seems like Chris Roberts wants to create a more realistic depiction of Star Wars than something that feels like it's set in the 30th century by modern day standards.
I believe the energy bolts that ‘laser’ weapons fire is plasma. It has its properties and SW, which was used as an example, use plasma for their ‘lasers’
I’ve been playing Star Citizen for a long time, and I never stopped to appreciate the variety and detail of the weapons like this video has. Really good stuff.
Quick not about the salvo frag pistol, It is actually a hand shotgun when it does it's charged shot. These look absolutely amazing. Now if they could clean up and improve the hit detection and animations when you shoot someone, that would make everything much more entertaining and satisfying.
That’s a netcode thingy and requires persistent entity streaming (PES) to be more polished first. However, you might like to hear that for Squadron 42, they just recently reported to have smoothened out some animations. But hit detection is a bigger problem that needs more tinkering in the very foundations of the game code (just remember the battlefield 4 launch… such things aren’t easy).
The handguns are among the most detailed objects in SC. I really enjoy looking at them in the game. Also the animations. Strangely enough the armour is not as high-resolution up close. In the reloading animations I find the sliding in of the magazine containers the best. See Devestator. Revager, Custodian, Coda pistol are also good. The Atzkav precision rifle looks the most elaborate. R-97 and S-71 could be from Crysis 2.
Some people are super impressed with the detail of the guns in CP77, but SC guns are so much more detailed that I hadn't noticed the CP77 ones aren't completely basic. 😅
Love all the weapons so far within Star Citizen, but I definitely like the more classic and real life look of the Behring weapons. Personally, while flashy guns look cool, I'd rather have a simple gun that's probably a lot easier to work on, in case they decided to add the need to break down and clean/repair firearms within the game. Would definitely love to see a video covering all ship based guns the same way this video covers small arms. Loved the style and simplicity of the video, not overdoing it with statistics or anything like that.
The weapons are definitely some of the most amazing assets along with ships. They share the same atttention for detail und uqniue brand characteristics and design. I think the sound has definitely room to improve a lot, but that is true for much of the game.
yo the coda pistol design is sick as fuck. and i really like how the atzkov cycle animation shows the resistance and heaviness of pulling back the bolt. also the microwave gun at the end looks exactly like the wave cooker in deep rock galactic
What I like about Star Citizen weapons and it's brand manufacturers is that they have their own unique design and product. Some of it design got inspiration from real world firearms that we use today. Behring = Modern/Conventional firearms (the company remind me of Heckler & Koch) Gemini = Futuristic design with conventional ammunition Klaus and Werner = Laser Pew Pew Kastak Arms = Futuristic plasma weapons and firearms Lighting Bolt = Electric Kill Apocalypse Arms = Big and Destructive(Anti-Vehicle/Aircraft) I hope they add more weapons into the game. For example: Behring: Machine Pistol Revolver Battle Rifle Rocket Launcher(Panzerfaust 3/RPG-7) Klaus and Werner: Laser Revolver Laser Carbine Laser Minigun Laser DMR Laser Beam Kastak Arms: Plasma Pistol Plasma Carbine Plasma LMG/Minigun Plasma Grenade Launcher Plasma RPG Lighting Bolt: Electron SMG Electron Shotgun Electron Assault Rifle Electron LMG Apocalypse Arms: Multiple Launch Rocket System MANPADS Incendiary Launcher
Long time backer and concierge and I just want to thank you for the balanced reporting on the state of the game. I just hope personally I live long enough to see the finished game and to be able to play and enjoy Star Citizen and find that my money invested was not a waste but that it helped to fund a game that is ahead of it's time and that will be played and enjoyed by citizens around the world for decades to come. o7 😎👍
Karna Rifle is definately my favourite and a real joy to use in 2-shot burst mode especially, deadly and accurate, easy to handle yet packing a punch. Also sounds amazing.
In regards to the Lightning Bolt weapons being good at boarding: I'm in a pirate group, that does training sims against each other when we have trouble finding targets, and sometimes get a bit wacky. We decide to take turns boarding and defending a freelancer with 6 people a side. I led the first boarding attack and as we got people in via the central dorsal airlock, we open the door and hear "Atzkavs at the ready" in proximity voice from the other team, as all 6 of them have equipped Atzkav's and started shooting us, in the super tight cramped area even though I immediately got into the cover of the bulkhead, the damage arcing off others still dropping down into the middle of the doorway killed the whole team in quick order. That being said, the arc range is too short to rely on for typical ships, and the Yubarev is absolutely the worst FPS weapon in the game
Im 48 years old and have been gaming since Atari was new. Star Citizen is the game I dreamed of playing as a kid when I watched movies like "The Last Starfighter" and "Tron". Ive tried SC twice now. Im an avid DCS player so complexity isnt a gripe. I just find some of the glitching and the abysmal FPS rates to be so hard to get around. That and its always had the feel that sometimes, the game simply doesnt want to played. I get thats a weird sentiment buts its truly how it feels.
Not a weird sentiment, I think. Found myself screaming at my screen "just let me play you damn it" on numerous occasions. Just a matter of the many bugs getting in the way sometimes, it's probably best to wait some more, like for beta phase, when bug fixing will become a priority. Just... 5 more years, right? ^^'
@@Cynry Truly. There are facets of gameplay I just avoid due to the glitching. Fix what we have. Refine the existing gameplay loops before adding more.
@@middleagedbaldguy6774 ah, no, sadly this is not the way. They at least have to finish their server tech and stabilize core gameplay elements around it before they can focus on bug fixing. Any work put in that right now will probably be rendered useless next patch, even moreso with server meshing coming after, and it also delays these features from being released. It sucks we can just suck it up, but it's the right way to go for this job. Hopefully just a couple more rough year, and they will be able to shift focus.
fun fact that he forget but the railgun rounds will actually bounce around if you shoot them indoors if you dont fully charge the gun leading to some absolute chaos in a pvp fight
Cool Camerawork in this video :D I hate to say it when I say this makes me want to look into this game sometime soon. (If I finally get burned out on some of my other Go-to franchises lol)
Behring is my all-time favorite Weapon-Manufacturer, I almost exclusively use their guns. Gemini would be second, the fire-rate on the C54 is sick and awesome for CQB
I'm really starting to love this game, i know it's unfinished and that why there are many bugs and bad netcode but the things that do work or how they want them to work eventually is really how i would like a game to be, it doesnt feel unrealistic in a way that they did the technology and the fact that bullets are simulated gives it a real feel. cant wait to play the finished version in like 10-15 years maybe:D
Yubarev Pistol - Amazing, I thought I had found one in a relic (get the boxes mission). This IS the type of weapon I would use. Right now, I'm really liking the Demeco, maybe you can change my mind
Awesome video it would be cool to hear about the gun mods flash lights, laser pointers, sights, scopes, suppressors, silencers, sustainers, custom paints and knifes too :)
Considering I don't have a PC but I want to get into this game eventually, channels with videos like this are invaluable for information. Any chance you might do some on armor?
It would be interesting if the rail gun had a mechanic where you had to clear back blast. Not because rail guns have backblast, but because a 1in flechette at mach 6 is going to need a way to control recoil. So a counter blast or rocket pulse seems like the most reasonable method.
great video, the Coda to me seems to be more the Desert Eagle of Star Citizen. but I want something bigger, the Star Citizen equivalent to the Magnum Research BFR or Smith & Wesson model 500. and also, a pistol size single shot grenade launcher.
@@LucidStrike yeah, it's funny he says it's the 44 magnum of star citizen despite saying it was a 50 cal. though the Desert Eagle can be chambered in .44 magnum to.

In the reloading animations I find the sliding in of the magazine containers the best. See Devestator. Revager, Custodian, Coda pistol are also good.
The Atzkav precision rifle looks the most elaborate.
R-97 and S-71 could be from Crysis 2.
Hmm,, well, the armor is probably not high-detail because you usually dont see it up close.
@@lilbu223 Eactly. You don't really see most of the parts up close but you do see the arms. With some models they are relatively low resolution.
Great video. I love the FPS weapons in SC
This is dope I got some ideas on making each type of weapon more strength based on ammunition type im glad they didn't cancel this project
also a positive point for the P6 sniper rifle is, that is has the lowest bullet drop (if you have gravity^^).
FS-9 with silencer and laser, Superperforator
Good job buddy. Did miss the Wow Blast... however seeing as it fires foam darts that deal no damage I'll let you off xD
You should do this for all the Ship weapons and turrets. That would be SICK
There should be an easter egg AKM hidden away somewhere, because people will always have AKs for as long as humanity lives, and probably even longer.
yo the coda pistol design is sick as fuck. and i really like how the atzkov cycle animation shows the resistance and heaviness of pulling back the bolt. also the microwave gun at the end looks exactly like the wave cooker in deep rock galactic
Good to know the differences between each gun and how they function. Anyway back to my Gemini sniper and FS-9 for all of time
Thank you for the sharing, as a star citizen player I still found this very cool
What I like about Star Citizen weapons and it's brand manufacturers is that they have their own unique design and product. Some of it design got inspiration from real world firearms that we use today.
Behring = Modern/Conventional firearms (the company remind me of Heckler & Koch)
Gemini = Futuristic design with conventional ammunition
Klaus and Werner = Laser Pew Pew
Kastak Arms = Futuristic plasma weapons and firearms
Lighting Bolt = Electric Kill
Apocalypse Arms = Big and Destructive(Anti-Vehicle/Aircraft)
I hope they add more weapons into the game. For example:
Behring:
Machine Pistol
Revolver
Battle Rifle
Rocket Launcher(Panzerfaust 3/RPG-7)
Klaus and Werner:
Laser Revolver
Laser Carbine
Laser Minigun
Laser DMR
Laser Beam
Kastak Arms:
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Carbine
Plasma LMG/Minigun
Plasma Grenade Launcher
Plasma RPG
Lighting Bolt:
Electron SMG
Electron Shotgun
Electron Assault Rifle
Electron LMG
Apocalypse Arms:
Multiple Launch Rocket System
MANPADS
Incendiary Launcher
Soo cool that each Individual bullet is modeled! @ 6:10.
Lightning Bolt Co. reminds me of Bioshock. Definitely on purpose.
I love Behring. Boxy. Minimal complexity. Medium calibre, high accuracy.
Great video man, you've been consistently entertaining for over 10 years. This brings me back to your Planetside 2 content.
Long time backer and concierge and I just want to thank you for the balanced reporting on the state of the game. I just hope personally I live long enough to see the finished game and to be able to play and enjoy Star Citizen and find that my money invested was not a waste but that it helped to fund a game that is ahead of it's time and that will be played and enjoyed by citizens around the world for decades to come.
o7 😎👍
In my opinion, kastak needs do a balístic rifle.
Karna Rifle is definately my favourite and a real joy to use in 2-shot burst mode especially, deadly and accurate, easy to handle yet packing a punch. Also sounds amazing.
I really love this style of video, please do more of these. (maybe armor?)
They need to add the P8-AR fully to the game. It had a debut in earlier PTUs but was never actually added when the patch landed.
I love the way the guns look!
I do believe according to lore laser are not lasers but super heated mater fired at high speed, so I guess they are caliber based in sc?
need to do a follow up video about attachments. scopes, underbarrel acces, and barrel attachments
These guns designs reminds me of the ones at Mankind Divided or Infinity Warfare, God i love these.
Cool Camerawork in this video :D I hate to say it when I say this makes me want to look into this game sometime soon. (If I finally get burned out on some of my other Go-to franchises lol)
Doubt I'd ever personally play this game but I really enjoy watching people playing it. Looks great.
Behring is my all-time favorite Weapon-Manufacturer, I almost exclusively use their guns. Gemini would be second, the fire-rate on the C54 is sick and awesome for CQB
This game looks really cool
I've been looking for a vid like this, thanks!
Damn beautiful game I still didn't know about this top game congratulations nice gameplay
Love the FPS guns they have now and am looking forward to them adding more of the ones they have been working on.
Awesome video it would be cool to hear about the gun mods flash lights, laser pointers, sights, scopes, suppressors, silencers, sustainers, custom paints and knifes too :)
Right now the Gemini weapons are my favorite aesthetic. Especially the S71.
You should charge RSI for that. Amazing presentation !
Considering I don't have a PC but I want to get into this game eventually, channels with videos like this are invaluable for information.
Any chance you might do some on armor?
Outstanding video, LC. Thank you!
Yeah, this. As he himself pointed out, it's 50 cal, so NOT like 44 Magnum.
@@LucidStrike yeah, it's funny he says it's the 44 magnum of star citizen despite saying it was a 50 cal. though the Desert Eagle can be chambered in .44 magnum to.
lasers can be "caliber based", the bigger the ability to charge, the hotter it gets
the hotter it gets, the more it can melt through, its why some lasers irl are brighter/hotter than others
