@@andrewknaub6693 ahh everything will come with time, it’s all very difficult but you’ll be surprised how quick you can pick it up. Just need to keep moving forward and remembering to ground handle. Too many people forget to. Try to ground handle 1 hour for every hour you fly!
Hi! Very good tips!! Im a beginner and I just move from a heavy “A” wing to a lighter “B” wing. Its so much sensible and Im in love learning with it! I will try your tips today. I really like the tip number 3 stalling and grabbing the A’s. Thank you for your time in film videos like this, they are really good !!
Hello Jack. Great tips. Any tips for river landings. Parachutal stall while flying in rotor or cloud suck and stuck in the white room for 30 minutes. Love this sport. Not a fan of the scary bits. You are a great inspiration to young pilots.
I am new to the sport! You step by step explanations and demonstrations are EXCELLENT!!! Really helps me “understand” what is happening and why we do what is done!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Second is really useful to avoid mushrooming and carry the glider to the top. Also the last exercise is useful to bring leading edge on the top. Both of these exercises will save my lot of time. Thanks for those tips.
I wrote my comment 3 months ago and then I tried these tricks. It looks easy in the video as you have mastered these techniques, but it wasn't easy for me to carry the glider using second trick. It needs lot of practice. Your video gave me direction on what to in ground handling.
That’s crazy that I’ve gone to 4 sessions so far and I now know how to do all of these moves from my instructor. Before the session I was like. What? How? But not anymore
Am I missing something? For me it looks on the video as if you're doing the exact opposite of what you are saying in exercise 1. You are weightshifting right and braking on the right side before the left wingtip touches the ground.
your tip number 1 is the one I have the most problems with but I still can't follow your instruction. So if my left-wing touches the ground, I lean my body toward the right to balance it but what do I do with the left break or right break?
Well done Jack, more great guidance and properly structured lessons, loving the energy you communicate through the lens. Have you considered some split screen shots, so we can see the glider moving with your control inputs? In tip 5, you suggest deciding which side of the wing is catching the wind before flipping it over, but could that lead to a double twist in your risers? I try to position myself so that pulling on the correct brake will reverse the rotation that got me there in the first place. Keep them coming, this stuff is gold dust. Brian.
Hi Brian, thank you for your kind words. A split screen would be a great idea, we are certainly exploring different options too so that we can use different angles. I don't think checking which side is inflating would lead to a double twist. Typically if the wing is upside down on the floor, there would be 0 twists between you and the wing, you are then checking which part of the wing catches air because its angled into the wind correctly. Then you can follow the rest of the steps to upright it. Once that is done, you will have a half twist in your lines like a standard reverse launch.
@@JackPimblett Very true Jack. I was thinking of the other day when I messed up kiting my wing back up the hill and turned it upside down. I had to think about which way to rotate it, but that's because I already had a double twist in the lines 😂. I nearly added another by pulling the wrong brake. Interesting that I watched one of our local heroes do a high-wind launch from an upside down wing: as he pulled the trailing edge over he turned it into a cobra launch. Looked really slick. Maybe do that one in your "advanced" video series.
hello from lebanon for our hero Cauch Jack plz u can make tutorial for Acro beginer pilot for stall exit infinity im not bad Acro pilot actuelly i did infinity but to this moment sometimes a small few bad correction in infinity but its ok already in mistake shes gone, but my exit just antirhytmic,we need stal exit tutorial thank u🙏🙏🙏😘
Thanks Jack .Really useful advice here. Having the brakes in your hands at all times makes these exercises more practical than many other ground handling videos. Just curious what is the purpose of the point of spin on the ground exercise? I’m aware that it’s a useful anti collision manoeuvre in the air.
Hey mate! So for a couple of reasons really, groundhandling I see as I chance to practise SIV on the ground with very few risks. Spin is one of those manoeuvres you will learn on SIV for the most part in order to understand where that spin point and how to recover from it. When you are coming in for a landing in a tight area, you want to know where your spin point is and to avoid it at all costs. By doing the excercise, not only are you having fun which is priority number one but you begin to understand where the spin point is and that to recover from it, you point your hands up and the glider will recover. Spinning the wing can also happen when you are groundhandling and therefore it would be good to understand where that point is for that reason too. Lastly, these excercises, clearly, are no replacement for SIV but practising grounhandling will always make you a better pilot and that is the aim here. I hope this helps and I apologise for my slow reply.
Great suggestion! At this point, I was already dripping with sweat in the heat. However gloves are a great idea to increase your overall level of protection!
Jack Pimblett I’ve noticed you got your breaks most of the time around your wrists. What would you advise when wearing gloves, so the brakes won’t get stuck while getting up to your hands?
Hi Lars, good question. We come across this problem a lot in acro and we often feel 'trapped' by the handles thinking we can't get to our rescue handles in emergency. Truth is, if you really need to get to something, you will do it. You will move much faster than usual and it will come off your wrist no problem. I typically fly with thick gloves and have the brakes around my wrists. I hope that helps!
there is a tip I was given: have a groundhandling wing that is higher class than the one you're flying. I fly i low/mid En-B and I purchased a used En-D wing only for groundhandling. I did only a couple of sessions with it but it shows. Compared to that my B wing feels like it moves in slow motion. I am way more relaxed on my B wing now. Oh...and the groundhandling wing to be smaller weight range, so you can practice in strong winds too.
Oh I like this one! This is how I learned as a kid, I had ENC’s and END’s to ground handle. Although at this time they were 2-3’s and 3’s etc. Great suggestions all round!
The video needs improvement. I was not able to see how the glider reacts to your inputs because you haven't shown them. The camera is focusing only on you and the lines. I was having no clue about the movement of your sail. I suggest that there should be a picture-in-picture type of video so that the view shows both. But for this, it is a good tutorial. In fact, you can replace this video with the p-in-p video, if possible for us to get the maximum benefit.
I am very new to this sport. Thank you for your hard work teaching, it’s very useful for me.
These are all awesome tips! I was struggling with literally everything on this video while practicing today. Your video gives me hope😆

You maybe the best paraglider teacher on UA-cam - very understandable for newbies.
Thank you so much! Not sure about that but that is very kind!

Ahh yes dude, I completely agree with you. You will have to practise a lot to master these but that is the whole idea. You will get there in the end!
Hi jack thanks for tips, very useful and the last tip helped me alot especially when wing is upside down, cheers jarvis
My man so glad you enjoyed

Спасибо большое !!!!!!!!!!!! очень полезное видео
Love it!
😍😍😍😍merci!
Can you practice with a full paragliding wing or should you use something much smaller when practicing ground handling?
Any form of ground handling will help you but typically using the wing you usually fly will help you the most!
What model of BERN are you wearing? Do you use it for flying also ?
I believe it’s the Watts model and yes I do buddy!
Too bad that you cannot like it multiple times, that how good this video is
