Hey do you ever get infront of a storm front? There is a front that's moving right now from Colorado to the s.e. and will sweep accross Oklahoma tomorrow. They are saying 60-70 mile per hur winds. I wounder what it would be like to soar infront of a storm front like that. I've never glided but I would be down to get infront of one of these.
Do you ever take long trips at higher alts? Do you bring snacks? Dabs? If you were on a extended trip and have to pee is that manageable?

The most revolutionary wing ever was the Woopy jump/fly. There are some videos on UA-cam about it and it looks incredible, but the videos are old and I've never seen it for sale. For someone just looking for an easy flight and few complications...it is the way to go. The wing is incredibly light and simple. For those who are just looking for some simple flying, I thinks it's better than anything else out there. Can't imagine why it never "took off".

Last year I heard of some serious and even fatal incidents with this wing and from pilots describing surprising wing reactions out of the blue.
Always remember this kite (not a paraglider it's a kite with short lines) can't be tested LTF and is therefore banned in some countries.
For sure fun to play with, but always remember you enter the more dangerous extreme sport category like speedflying.

Quite similar speed system most foil kites have had for last 15 years. Pulling ratios seems to be 1:3 for C line row and 1:6 for B.
Foil kites usually have 1:2 for C and 1:4 for B but also those a bit smaller ratios have been used. Bigger ratios give more effect but handles (bar) become also heavier

I surf every day and have never flown but I’d like to order a Mojo from you someday.
If I can make a comparison it’s this: skydiving is like normal surfing. Pretty long ride. Relatively safe. Lots of speed and thrill but in general pretty safe. BASE jumping seems like big wave surfing. In and out with the potential to absolutely get wrecked or die. Adds lime junkies only. Heavy consequences.
And paragliding, looks extremely close to hydrofoil surfing. Fairly low risk depending on the spot. Insane speed. And you can paddle for a wave and ride endless waves if you have the cardio.
Seeing you jump off a hill and land at the same spot, makes me fall in love with this. BASE jumping looks sketchy and scary and lots of work for a short ride. Skydiving is expensive and still a fairly short ride. But paraglide looks insane.
I just don’t have the money to buy a rig as I have other hobbies, but, if paragliding was something I could rent, I’d be all in until I could dive into my own rig.

these things look amazing, but the inability to go hands-off would be a deal breaker, especially with motor flying and going XC. They should add stoppers to the flare system lines so you can make a setpoint like with the trims on a normal wing. that way you can set your wing AoA trim and release the brakes for long-straightline runs.

    • @jeffroberts6428
      @jeffroberts6428 Рік тому

Yeah, plus most of the new wings these days have an attachment between the C’s and B’s allowing you to fly rears, trims open very similar to how the mustache works, but with normal brakes too. I’m sure the mustache is fun and allows you to do some cool stuff, but a normal wing with a good pilot can do almost all the same stuff.

Sounds like a brilliant concept with the whole speed and angle of attack in the brake lines.
Only downside I can see is how you will need to remain 100% hand on, and under constant tension or strain on the arms if you want to fly anything under full speed.
Looks like horses for courses, but not a great wing for last relaxed flight, but a ripper if you want to just go tare it up for a bit.

I've been doing this for years with a converted 19m² Pansh aurora. This "revolutionary " design is a standard enough depower system for power kites. Really comfortable brake pressure and good range of travel for how responsive it is.

Closed cell is super dangerous for flying

@@E620SE hard to collapse in turbulence BUT harder to inflate after collapse. I understand its a double edge sword but it worked for me while learning and ground handling.

@@cillianwilliamson16 yes, but flying a closed cell is just not necessary.
The first moustache protos (a decade ago) were also closed cell.
The final moustache is open cell and yet super solid.

Great stuff Tucker. You should team up with Gav McClurg for podcast content and get him to teach you about hike and fly. See how far you can get without Gas. Hope you get your head in a good place. Love it, thanks a million!

Thanks for the duck noises over the cursing instead of a beep. The beeps scare the shit out of my dog; more people should use a duck quack.
