2024 Ford Mustang GT3 in action on Goodwood hillclimb course: Accelerations, Burnouts & V8 Sound!

- This video is about the freshly unveiled Ford Mustang GT3, the car with which Ford is entering the global FIA GT3 category and racing in 2024. Developed by Ford Performance, Multimatic and M-Sport, the car is based on the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse road leagal model and it's powered by a modified 5.4-liter, naturally aspirated Coyote-based V8 engine developed by M-Sport.
Since from 2024 the GT class of the World Endurance Championship, and thus the one used for the 24h of Le Mans, will be based on GT3-class regulations, this Mustang will also fight for the class victory at Circuit de la Sarthe next year.

The sound is very reminiscent of the continental gt3 which is definitely welcome.
The exhaust does, but the intake is way different. You can really tell that it's NA if you listen to the intake sounds. It sounds so freaking good.

I'm assuming the Bentley uses the Ford flathead firing order since that's what the Coyote V8 uses. Ford went back to that firing order after a long time using their Windsor firing order.
The Bentley sounds better imo. More brutal.

Le Mans is GTE. These are racing in GT3. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a GTE version ready to go as well though.
@@BurtSampsonLol no, WEC (including Le Mans) is moving to GT3 cars next year. This year is last year of GTE ever
@@jaiganticpooey3012 damn, that sucks. First DTM, now GTE. I love GT3 racing, but I hate to see it totally take over like that. GTE cars were cooler than GT3. Same goes for DTM.
@BurtSampson Sorry man, the GT3 takeover was inevitable. The low cost of the hypercar class only killed GTE faster

Daytona, Sebring yes (2 cars each in IMSA GTD Pro and GTD), Spa no (No participation in SRO Europe in 2024) and Le Mans...depends on if they are granted a much coveted entry to WEC 2024...!

Is it just me or was the engine not running right from 2:26 to 2:30. Maybe broke something doing the burnout?
@@garymanis6305 I think he was either shifting it or throttling it in a way where he didn't just keep spinning the wheels after the burnout to get it up to a desired speed, maybe running it at a higher gear first
@@chevymontmarlo He wasn't shifting. He was rolling, dumping the clutch in 2nd gear and goosing it, then letting off. Repeat. The engine was popping like it was on the limit of a cheap aftermarket rev limiter, but it sounded like it was turning maybe 1500 rpm. So, ignition retarded and lugged.

Though not this street-legal racing machine, which is already out, I still hope Ford will bring a new variant to be placed in-between the Dark Horse and the GTD.

@@JosephMC27 Yeah. SInce the GT350 had a flatplane crank, which would normally sound like a Ferrari...but they compensated that in the exhaust design, so they managed to make it sound somewhat like a traditional V8 despite using a flatplane crank.

Will take a while to catch up to the experienced teams but when they do ;-) Ford wants the petrol cars (last of breed?) to go out with a huge impression. I am not a Ford fan boy but respect the engineering and innovation they put into this one.

They keep calling this a "hill climb" but I have yet to see any kind of a hill.
I always thought the same thing until I've been there in person in 2017. The first kilometer has a very slight slope but from the left-hander (Molecomb) it climbs about 85 meters in less than 800 mt. For some reasons you can't spot almost any uphill section from videos, but when you walk from Molecomb to the finish line you really feel the slope all in your legs and by how sweaty you get to the top

Feels like Ford learned a lot from the V8 super car mustang and the result is this.
That Mustang GT3 is an all out racing machine that will be very formidable. That NASCAR entry this year in LeMans shows how formidable and fast American V8s are. And that is a 5.2 L Coyote V8 in this GT3.

@newone-gd9sk That Camaro broke down because it was a Chevy punching above its weight. Ford goes to LeMans to win. History proves it. And the Coyote V8 is a different beast.

It sounds quite similar to the Bentley GT3 which is interesting to me because the Bentley had 2 turbos and this is NA
Yeah kinda similar but personally I think the mustang has a slightly high pitched V8 sound
The intake sound is completely different. That's the real giveaway that it's NA, not turbocharged. The Bentley exhaust is just a little deeper and more muffled sounding as well, but quite similar.
Both run true duals, if it had an x pipe, it’d sound like the mustangs in V8 Supercars

How a car should sound
Now thats how a gt3 race car should sound. Gotta say I was pretty disappointed my first time hearing the new ferrari 296 and bmw m4 in person. The newer 6 cyl turbo engines just dont sound all that good. So muffled and quiet, you could hardly even hear them over the porsches and mercedes. Definitely a step down from the previous v8's used in the m6 and 488. But this thing sounds MEAN.
Love the livery on this, one of the best schemes i can remember. I guess this is just for the 'prototype' and it wont actually race in these colours which is a pity
I was just thinking how horrible the placement and color choices are. It completely detracts from body lines in a disjointed way . Here is this great gt3 mustang they spent time perfecting the aerodynamics on and bam ! An elementary schooler colors it.

The rear diffuser is very lackluster for me. The front looks awesome, the wing reminds me of the 2011 Marc vds mustang, and those wheels are immaculate. Hopefully the evo update looks better
