For the love of God, hopefully you provide an explanation as to how you got 5.4 liters from a stock deck height Coyote block and not just pretty photos as the car zooms by.
@@BarnettMotorsport The problem is the max bore dimensions are limited due to bore center dimensions on modular Ford blocks. Hence why Ford went with a spray bore coating in order to achieve a mere 5.2 liters on the GT350/GT500. As for a longer stroke, not exactly what you want if you need "high" rpm.
@@tobization I hear ya. I think most the 5.0 mustang blocks stick Darton sleeves in to run 5.2ltr. That's good if you you want to rev it, however the car in this video is running intake restrictors, you can see them a couple of times during the video. Aussie v8 supercars run as a 5.4 but also have intake restrictor and rev limit of 7500. I guess for these applications a 5.4ltr is better due to intake and RPM restrictions.
There are a lot of fricking smart people out there. The setup testing looked so cool. I wonder if these engineers get along with their drivers. You can create a work of art that should never fail but it's down to good ole Billy Bob from Alabama and how much weight he puts on the petal.

Back in the early 90's Larry Holt and driver Scott Maxwell of Multimatic were road racing Ford's in street stock touring series in Quebec and Ontario Canada. They continued for decades. Scott became one of the most respected road racers in Canada and Larry become the Albert Einstein of motorsports turning Multimatic into Automotive giant that it is now.
Oh! what I would'nt give to own and drive one of those cars, that sound is absolutely music. I can listen to that sound all day 24/7 it gives me heart pulpitations.
When M-Sport is assembling the engine you can see that they're using a 94mm piston ring compressor, meaning that it's been bored out to 5.2 and then stroked to be undersquare which is an interesting choice for a race engine since they're usually high strung oversquare, high revving monsters. However I think this fits into what they were saying about the engine that's as powerful as possible not always being best. Undersquare sacrifices top end performance but allows the engine to be a bit more efficient, reliable and have a larger, flatter torque curve, allowing it to punch out of the corners consistently. In a series with strict BoP that will likely limit the top end performance of the engine anyways this choice is actually a pretty good way to go about it. Overall very interesting, looking forward to getting more hints about the car as this series develops.
This promotion is unprecedented for a race car. Usually this effort is just eserved for road cars. I feel ford are really capitalising on the surge of interest in endurance racing.
I’m afraid with the audi V10s in the lambo and R8 they are going to silence it the only V8 in GT3 I have seen that is so loud is the BMW Z4 GT3. I don’t think this car is far off from the Bentley. I don’t know what you think?
