- The most important character isn't Goku. Let me explain why.

When I ask you who the most important character in Dragon Ball is, I’m sure the immediate reaction is to say Goku and that’s fair enough he is the main character after all. Some may say Gohan due to his important role throughout Dragon Ball Z or even Kami for simply making the Dragon Balls in the first place. All three are strong candidates for the title of most important. If you said Vegeta though, please seek help.
Despite there being good reasons for those main three options I listed, I think the most important character in Dragon Ball is Bulma and for me - it’s not really close.

Who do YOU think the most important character is?
I think Bardock is. He not only created the BEST anime protag, and also is pretty badass anyways
you could argue that raditz is one of the more important characters as he’s basically the reason as to why the events of dbz happened the way they did (my opinion ofc) to each their own 🤷
Grandpa Gohan
@@bigboyisaac255 well then there is another. Who do you think created Raditz? That's right. Bardock.
bulma and its not even close
I mean, come on! If it weren't for Bulma, then Goku would've never left his house.
Goku was already outside his house, he was getting a fish and ran into bulma
The Cap 🧢

@@epicrgg Goku would've never explored the world or pursue the goal of becoming the world's greatest martial artist.
I mean, to be fair why would he want to leave when he has abundance of animals, both to fight and prey upon for food? I’ll say he may still get strong but not nearly as strong as he would by training with Roshi, Korin and Kami.
She also made Beerus relevant by turning him into the most powerful babysitter ever
She also helped Vegeta become relevant in GT by helping him become a Super Saiyan 4.

Why was she an inspiration? I don’t know much about the woman so I’m not sure. Did she have a charity or something?
I love Bulma as a character. She's one of the most respected characters in the entire show. An even more, someone touching bulma could put every Z fighter over the edge because she's easily the reason all of them got to have even a moment of peace in their lives. Most characters in the show were villians or just mean except for Goku, and Roshi basically. She's Goku's first friend besides grandpa Gohan, and Goku is one of hers. I love their small interactions where she defends him even if he's doing something stupid because she knows him better then anyone on a personal level. Its cute.
Hell, she's even the leader of the Z Fighters (according to that twisted version of the story Magenta told to Dr. Hedo)
I hate Bulma.

@@marca8368 Funny. The Z figters never exist. They just a bunch of friends. They didn't call themselves that in the manga.
@@dariusdefour5365 I missed the part where that's my problem
Ever since the beginning of the dragonball story Bulma was the go to for the plot progression and the insta fix for every technical problem.
It's also a foolproof way to always have the character relevant. There's really no comparable (relevant) techhead in the series and its an incredibly useful trait to have in a series with (very soft) sci-fi themes.
but goku was still important as well
@@yuhjeice7186 you know...i always though that the most important character in universe was frieza, cause if he never destroyed planet vegeta, goku would have never been sent to earth.
@@slimgrim3607 that’s fair
me personaly inthink kami bc if he didnt make dragon balls bulma wouldnt search for them and didnt meet goku so she would be irrevelant
My first thought was Future Bulma was directly responsible for saving Present Goku from the Heart Virus which ultimately saved an entire universe in DB Super and I was surprised you didn’t mention it in the video.
And during the Mecha Frieza Stuff Yamcha says “what can a dumb woman do?” And she is the one who gives life to Trunks who defeats Mecha Frieza and King Cold, plus Trunks brings the cure Bulma made via her time machine. Frieza’s defeat Was all her doing.
EXACTLY!
The timeline Future Bulma and Future Trunks come from is the original or "present" 😬
@@MisterthetimGoku said he would have used the instant transmission to get there but Mecha Frieza would have done some damage already. Only thing she should get applause for is creating a time machine and a cure for Goku's heart virus disease.
@@youtubeuser5524 And we don't even know if they helped him or if he did it alone. After all, he came back from 20 years later. But if Goku gets involved in the story because of Pilaf or the Red Ribbon Army because Bulma doesn't exist, then probably the time machine isn't needed either. Although Bulma is actually very useful because of her father's money and her own mind.
Bulma really did grow into a powerhouse character, she achieves everything the fighters can't and her future version has a downright tragic story and ending. She's a literal capitalist princess too so it makes sense that Vegeta would marry into earthling royalty
The funniest thing is that the relationship with vegeta started with a one-night stand, because she pitied him lol
Bulma was also the last push Vegeta needed to perform the fusion dance with Goku that ultimately stops Broly and Freezer
And also the potara fusion against Buu, which would've been way harder to convince him to do than the fusion dance, because they thought Potara would be permanent.
One of my favorite aspects of Bulma is how she easily tames beings who could destroy her with a single thought. She domesticated both Vegeta AND the God of Destruction Beerus, and is best friends with an actual angel.
Super Hero wasn't too far off, Bulma is pretty much the leader and the mastermind of the team.
Bulma's intelligence is beyond the technology, she also has a emotional intelligence , so she convinced both Vegeta and Beerus (and Goku, remember she also convinced an ingenious Goku) because she knew what they needed or wanted
@@ingridsuperfreak I wonder if she could befriend Zeno easily like Goku? 🤔
She’s so annoying tho. She acts like everyone needs to kiss the ground she walks on. She demanded the final wish when Goku was the one who summoned him, she hits guys that simply don’t find her attractive, she stole the naming without her husband of their second child when Vegeta wanted to honor his race. I always see Bulma as Goku's older sister. She is my favorite female character of all time (not just in Dragon Ball).
In GT Bulma built the blutz wave machine which was initially built to help Baby, but was later used to help Vegeta become a Super Saiyan 4 so he could fuse with Goku to become SS4 Gogeta, without Bulma, Vegeta wouldn't have gotten to SS4.

I’d say Grandpa Gohan was the most important, he raised Goku to be who he is today, everything from his kindness to his skill at fighting, Gohan taught him a lot. If he didn’t find Goku then he probably would’ve been killed by some wild animal since he was just a baby back then.
Or he would've gone oozaru and destroyed parts of earth
I mean that’s the most obvious. You could literally say gokus dad is the most important for saving him. But thats small picture people. Bulma in the grand scheme of things to where we are now is without a doubt bulma

"But for some loners, it's not a matter of skill. It's an ego thing. They internalise that they couldn't trust anybody, so they forged an identity around the idea that they _wouldn't_ trust anybody. And since it's an ego thing, if they realise they are relying on people, it hurts their pride. Acting aloners sometimes lash out at the people they're closest to when they realise their vulnerability inherent in their relationship or otherwise spiral into self-destructive behaviour to preserve their self-image. It would be dope if Goku acknowledged Bulma's role in his life, from the beginning. Have a sweet moment between them, show how their friendship has grown over time. Give her story more of the main stage, like it deserves. Literally without her, they would've lost so many times. This character analysis was spot the fuck on. I've always felt she was the most important. I love even how her style changes so often over the course of the series, while everyone else more or less looks the same. She's the most dynamic character in the series. I wish dragon ball developed and showcased its character friendships more. There's such a rich history between everyone by now, and I wish the story would capitalize on that history. I feel like they're missing out on some good opportunities for really impactful, emotional moments to balance the typical dbz action.
Damn, the panel of Imp. Cell explaining how he got into the main timeline is sad since there's a timeline where Bulma is still waiting for Trunks to get back from the future.
Or she found a pile of clothes with an abandoned sword and wondered why her son decided to travel to the past naked and never come back.
In any case that timeline has no Cell, no Androids, no Trunks. Which means no Zamasu being angred at the repeated sin of time travel by a mortal. No Super Saiyan Gods, so no Beerus waking up early chasing dreams of a new challenger. Freeza remains dead as there are now no known Dragon Balls to wish him back that his soldiers know of, the Freeza Force continues to be decimated as planets rebel, Paragus stays stuck on Vampa with Broly, Granolah probably lives out his days serving the Heaters who now rule over the remnants of Freeza's empire.
Buu is either never released due to the lack of strong energy for Babidi to collect on earth, or the whole process takes much longer to complete. Either way, Universe 7 is probably taken out by a bored Zeno, an escaped Moro, or a rampaging Fat Buu. I assume if Buu or Moro get out of hand, then other universe wariors like Jiren could handle those threats before they spread.
But until it's eventual end by bored gods, fat bubblegum monsters or goat wizards, Universe 7 in Cell's original timelime gets a very long stretch of undisturbed peace. Making it the best timeline outcome in all of Dragon Ball.
@@dn22pkkdd476 Maybe Beerus would find Broly, as he and Paragus are the only remaining Saiyans.

Dragon Ball has made such an impact on so many, including myself. Since I've discovered the Dragon Ball Franchise I wouldn't want to live in a world where it didn't exist. I hope they continue the series forever. It's one of those shows that can truly be an endless adventure. 🐉😍
I'd say Bulma and Goku are kinda equally important. Just like without Bulma's tech almost none of the major events in the series could have happened, without Goku's strength most of the things that happened would have turned out badly.
Knowing Bulma was conceived as an adaptation of the Tripitaka, her befriending gods makes way too much sense.
She's also the most powerful character, as she has the most money.
Without Bulma there is no Vegeta's atonement against Buu. Arguably the best moment in DBZ.

I never thought of it that way
Pretty much yeah Bulma has been the most important character since day 1. 👍 Also in DBS: Super Hero, because of having the Dragon Balls already Piccolo was able to get his Potential Unlocked by Shenron.
Carthu is forgetting that without frieza blowing up planet vegeta goku never goes to earth, that if Kami didn't create the dragon balls then bulma would never have met goku, Rossi because if goku was never trained by him then goku would be so weak he would die in the red ribbon army saga, Goku because if he didn't exist then bulma would have died on her journey to Pilaf or a wild bandit, Beerus because if he didn't order frieza to destroy the saiyans goku would not have gone to earth and it would be doomed, Raditz because if he doesn't show up DBZ doesn't happen and everyone on earth is killed by the android's, Vegeta and nappa be abuse if they didn't go to earth everyone would have died to the android's and Cell because if he didn't time travel then everyone would have been killed by main buu.
I thought Bulma was an important character but didn't realize how crucial she actually was. She's sometimes annoying and down right arrogant at times but has more than the stuff to back it up and the ASSets to. Her technology and brilliant mind and ties to crucial characters in the main cast cement her as one of the best DB characters and a good animé character overall.
Bulma, Chi Chi, Goku, Vegeta, Roshi and Piccolo I would say each can make a case for being the most important character.

If we look at it from a meta reason too, the entirety of Dragon Ball as a franchise probably wouldn’t exist without the original series, and I’m sure a non-0% of the appeal of the original series was at least partially thanks to Bulma’s character
Sure, Bulma might've led Goku to that journey. However, Goku had a dragon Ball, meaning that anyone looking for it would go to Goku. Goku would've obviously refused, since grandpa Gohan gave it to him, and he would eventually discovery the reason of the existence of the dragon balls. He would still find ways to defeat the villains, so he wouldn't need Bulma's help.
If it weren’t for bulma adopting goku he would have died to the RR army bc they would likely be the only other ones who can find him
Who else that knew of the dragon balls could make a radar? Also goku would have just stayed at the house. And disasterous things would happen if goku weren’t involved
@@subzero8520 Pilaf did. And the red ribbon army too if I'm not lying.
@@subzero8520 I think without Bulma the story could go somewhat the same. Goku would have probably run into turtle which would have led him to roshi granting him the nimbus. He probably would have still ran into Mai and shu who were looking for the dragon balls and scare them off and probably follow them. He probably would have also found the ox king and run into chi chi. The story could've go in any way to be honest but Bulma left her impact on it and that's okay.
What if Jiren won the Tournament of Power?
I always get a kick out of thinking about how Bulma, at 16 years old, was motorbiking through the mountains, ran over a little kid and when he got back up she shot him in the head with a revolver. She absolutely did not hesitate lmfao.
*If there is no Dr. Brief There is no Bulma*
What if Goku was born with Frieza's potential?
Than he would not be considered a low class warrior, not sent off the planet, and die , even if they tried sending him away he would get blasted by Freeza's henchmen
Check salad saiyan he did a what if about that
Also, Bulma was the sole factor that convinced Vegeta to fuse with Goku to create Vegito/Vegetto/Vegerot/whatever and led to the defeat of Majin Buu
0:25 come on if vegeta didnt tell them about namek and freiza everybody would stay dead
Give man some credit 😭
0:13 I've scene enough youtube poops to know where the "die!" voice came from.
If we're weighing importance by the gravity of a character's actions, then it'd be Kami. Bulma is incredibly relevant in the actions of the story, but her whole reason for being in the story is due to Kami creating the Dragon Balls. Both characters are great and important to the story, but everything about Bulma in this video is countered by the fact that Kami created her initial motivation. I'm sure Bulma would've still gone on to do some crazy like invent the first space ship on Earth or continue to go on and discover Time Travel but she wouldn't've met Goku
Yeah but the story itself wouldn't have happened if Bulma hadn't found that one Dragon Ball in her basement anyway, so even if Kami had created the Dragon Balls, Bulma not trying to find the Dragon Balls would've meant that the entire story wouldn't happen the way we know it.
If we look at the story from a meta-outside perspective, Kami would’ve probably not existed had the first arc of original Dragon Ball been so popular, which I’m sure is at least partially due to Bulma
I feel like it’s kind of a shaky argument, because you could use the same thinking for frieza. Without frieza blowing up planet vegeta, goku never would’ve been sent to earth, he’d have the saiyans as his minions, immortality and the entire universe in his grasp. And with no goku on earth, bulma probably dies trying to get the dragonballs.
No no, he's got a point
Same for Beerus. If he did his job, there'd be no Frieza or Saiyans, and no Dragonball as a result.
Actually Karl Benz is the most important character..
If he hadn’t invented the car, Bulma would have never found Goku.
Also Bulma’s hair before she goes to Namek is fucking baller
I will NEVER stop wondering what Vegeta and Bulma’s wedding was like.
that bit from 3:30 to 4:00 is the main bit for my theory that the time machine can't split the timeline in an already split timeline, because Trunks indicates that he hadn't created a new timeline and it was actually Cell that had done it (while sitting in a hole in the ground for 4 years). this means that the idea of a whole bunch of other timelines from trunks time travelling would have to be false
Gotta give bulma the Credit for what she’s done over the years !
It all depends it could be dr briefs for teaching bulma how to do all the stuff she did and make her in the first place
The og Omni King for creating the multiverse
Or goku for killing all the bad guys
"I'm only human after all"
Took to another level💀
Without Bardock, the story of Goku doesn't happen, his wish made with the dragon balls and him sending kakarot to earth are the literal foundations of the story of Dragonball, it wouldn't be what it is if those events never happened.
Though Bulma is also pretty important, she's probably like the second most important by a VERY small margin.
