I just discovered your website and am hugely impressed. I'm a 78 yo woman who recently came through a journey where they cured my lymphoma but destroyed my body with the chemicals. I'm desperately trying to discover how to heal myself. I'm convinced my first line to approach is diet, but it took awhile to realize that my drs. are hindering. I've turned to online reading of current research and reviews but find so many opinions there too. I Keep switching things to do but it's driving me crazy. Looking for someone to trust and I think I just found the path. Thank you sooo much for sharing your expertise and common sense and support. Subscribed!
Thanks, I've learned more in these few minutes than I have from any of my doctors. Thank you both.
Agree. I think most of the doctors I've seen (all of them from India) never learned about kidney INJURY. They're all idiots.
Thank you, I have mild kidney Dz from childhood secondary to renal reflex, corrected by surgery. My nephrologist does not give me ways to improve my renal function, and decrease protein dumping. He sees me as healthy in comparison to his other patients. So glad you are doing this, I like prevention!
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 CKD last year and I have been trying to figure out the dietary changes. I really didn't know much about how to adjust my diet and kept coming across contradictory information. Finding your videos has been extremely helpful!!
I have stage 3b ckd. I Thank you both for this helpful information.
Love you 2!!!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏I’m ophthalmologist in Brazil… don’t drink water enough… kidney stone (cirurgic)walk frequently and run dehydrated 😢chronic….LEARNING A LOT WITH YOU BOTH…..🙏
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing. There were so many things I didn't know about chronic kidney disease😊💖 hope this video reaches and helps more people
Thanks so much for the feedback! We are so happy you are learning more about CKD :)
I love they way Dr Hasmi explained and taking the approach of diet base fixing the kidney. You two and very good job and well informed
My best friend /partner has been in hospital for several days now with stage 4 Kidney disease oh and type one diabetes ,something he has had since he was teN,now he is 34. I took him in because he was having a hard time breathing especially at night,at first everyone thought it was heart failure but heart output was fine. His bp had been up and hard to get down. He is still there and I hope he makes it.
We hope he makes it too and are thinking positive thoughts for your friend!

Do you know what the tsunami of conflicting information that affects one’s health and life are doing to almost everyone… especially that it comes from doctors who consider themselves as the stars of the internet…
We do thank you dr. Hashmi for your honesty and genuine care.
Thank you both for a VERY informative video! Excellent and thorough information all in one ~42 minute video.
So glad it was helpful!
Excellent Explanation by Doc. Thank you Doc. Everyday I follow you
I have enjoyed this video so much , such good info. And I was bombarded with such a strict diet, I cried so much, because I love food. And it was the hardest thing for me , so many boring limits, and each day the same thing. It was so stressful, I got so hungry it drove me crazy..... I just could not bare it. And to much complicated , info that I don’t understand. And just both of you are like gem stones I found. Finally things are making sense to me ...
Like don’t look at numbers, and you don’t die of kidney disease, but heart attack or something els. We need to take the whole body into existence. To protect you as whole.... love your channel . So glad I found it today.❤❤❤
Buckle up man
Cried over not eating foods

Hi can you please help me me
Absolutely love you guys..thanks for helping me get on the path.
Our pleasure! So happy you are finding our videos helpful :)
Thanks a lot doc, your explanation is the most enlightening one to me of all that I hear from doctors, either online or personal...
Love your channel. Great logical way of explaining by both of you. Thanks. Tapan India.
With doctors, they do not spend over 30 minutes with each patient, but most likely ten or fifteen minutes and depend on testing etc. to make up for the difference. Can not figure if AI will help in the future. This is a great video. Today you must be your own doctor and channels like these are most helpful to supplement the lack of time doctors spend with you. The diet aspect of the show is great and do not dismiss supplements. Coffee is my bacon in this argument. It seems many of us have our likes we just do not want to give up.
It is forming healthy habits that we improve the quality of our health..we fortify our health by eating healthy and exercising and doing the best we can😊 Thank you for educating me also❤🤗🙏Godbless
Thank You Guys Sooooood very much, Thank, Thank, Thank .And Praise God for you both.🙏🌹🍓🍇🍎🫐♥
Absolutely the most informative, educational channel for us kidney patients.

Thank you for sharing this information. I started out at stage 4 CKD and have dialysis 3 times a week. By researching I have gone to stage 2. I am determined to get off dialysis.
I see so many who just accept their diagnosis and don't realize they can change their future. It may be hard but life is all about change.
Hi Edward, Nice to hear that you went from stage 4 to stage 2. I have been recently diagnosed with Acute Kidney Failure and have been put on dialysis three times a week. It would be great to know about your inputs on how to climb the ladder towards improvement. Thanks..
@@rajatsharma7602 what is your age ?
@Rajat Sharma I was diagnosed with 1.8 and progressed to kidney failure in 9 years and finally dialysis for 6 months and tranaplant since 3.5 years. But of I had known about the plant based diet I could have easily reversed my situation. If you are interested you can research more about Sharan as well as do a lot of changes to your life by totally cutting non veg and eggs.
How exactly does acute kidney failure result in dialysis? Usually it has to be a further advanced stage.
What food do you eat ?
Very helpful, I will keep in touch. Thanks
BOTH of YOU SO ENCORAGING in my diagnosis of CKD!

Thank you both so much !
these videos are so very helpful, and informative … thank for educating me!
So glad you're finding them helpful!
Thanks for all the great info. I was surprised to hear Dr H refer to alcohol as "empty calories". In fact, ethanol gets metabolized almost exactly the same as fructose. Fructose has been referred to as "alcohol without the buzz" because it's not taken up by the brain where is alcohol is but otherwise almost identical. Fructose and alcohol both get metabolized down to uric acid. Uric acid raises blood pressure by inhibiting endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) which is the body's vasodilator. Uric acid also acts at the level of the kidneys by inhibiting excretion of salt causing sodium retention further increasing blood pressure. Fructose is the number one cause of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, even among people of normal weight. So not really "empty calories", much worse than that! Please keep up the great work, folks! Richard Norris MD, ACLM
The concept of empty calories is the idea of a lack of nutritional value. Same as in drinking soda's.
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth I understand. My main concern was that the concept of empty calories just makes it sound like a neutral benign substance which clearly is not. That's all. 'Lack of nutritional value' does not give a full picture of the harm that the substance does. Just wanted folks to be aware of that. Thank you for your work. Richard Norris MD
@@richardnorrismd very nicely put, doctor. When talking about white sugar one normally mentions the fact that it has no nutritional value. But there's much more to it than just this. It's harmful in so many ways and that needs to be pointed out, too.
This is great info Dr.Norris... Blood uric acid level, like Dr.Johnson from Colorado said is an outmost important metabolic marker.. driven mostly by alcool and fructose

Dr Hashmi, since you talked about your pets, I wish to share my cat story! Four weeks ago my cat was treated by the vet for urinary tract infection. The vet found granular sediments in the urine, the ultrasound & x-ray showed no stones. The antibiotic had no effect after two weeks. When I took my kitty back there was blood in her urine. The vet gave IV fluids for dehydration. The cat would not eat the urinary canned food. I decided to use a syringe to give my cat diluted apple cider vinegar 3x a day. 4 days on this my kitty is well & happy, & I have a huge vet bill!
Thank you for these episodes. It's so informative. God Bless!!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I'm on Vegan-Keto and the diet has helped me a lot. I find it easy to stay on. Hidden ingredients in some vegan processed foods like potato starch was no good for me. I also found problems with some non-organic vegetables. I used to eat a lot of Brussel sprouts and I could not find organic Brussel sprouts, but found out through UA-cam that non-organic Brussel Sprouts can contain harmful pesticides that includes arsenic that is bad for kidneys. Thanks to UA-cam websites like yours, one can figure things out to help one's healing process.
Thank you, this is EPIC information!
Very clear the way you explain it. Thanks doc.
Great video. Thank you for sharing us👍❤️
Thank you both drs Hashmi and Michelle for your detailed and to the point valuable information. I just want to know the approximative gfr for people aged 67. I would be grateful to hear your answer.
It is an outstanding program. Thank you for shaing this knowdge with us. Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback and for tuning into our channel!
I am going to recommend your excellent channel to my nephrologist and peritoneal dialysis team. Any recommendations for resistant hypertension? Non-diabetic, non-obese. Had acute kidney failure/sepsis 20 years ago due to one standard dose of physician-prescribed ibuprofen interaction with lisinopril. No drugs or combinations thereof have had any positive effect on my BP. I appreciate the plant-based approach, but I avoid soy because it is all GMO and mostly grown with pesticides. Love your explanation of hepatorenal syndrome. I am so glad I stopped drinking - wish I had never taken my first drink.
Seek the Lord for he wants to help you.
Think about asking Jesus into your heart, if you have not. The Lord can help you when drugs & doctors can't. Most importantly you can have a peaceful eternity with him when this life is done.
Very informative & thank you very much.

Thank you so much Drs.
Thank you guys for these informative videos. So helpful😋
My husband has been on peritoneal dialysis for6 years and Haemo dialysis since 2015 so we try hard to control diet.
You are advocating whole grain diet but I have been told that whole grains are much more difficult for kidneys to digest than refined so kidney patients should limit them?
I have always taken that with a pinch of salt because he had cancer but has been healed so refined foods are a no no!
You just ended with my last comment! Thank you
Thank you for that video. I learned a lot and I am looking forward to more of those
Glad it was helpful!
My eGFR drop drastically from 70 to 47 and protein spill at +4 and High UACR at >2000, January 15 i had 1.33 creatinine then Feb 15 jumps to 1.82. I suffered from Hypertension and stress during that time. From CKD stage 2 to 3a. My nephro changed my meds and removed KetoAnalogues. I will change my diet to plantbased. I already consulted to a dietician. Hope to improve my protein in my urine and lower my creatinine. I will incorporste some exercise.
These videos are just superb and super informative. I have just one kidney and rheumatoid arthritis. It was controlled until I stopped all meds when a specialist suggested the biological may have caused my kidney issue. It’s so hard now to know which is worse…the inflammation or the medication
God bless , my prayers are with you.🙏❤️
2 questions:
1. Is there an already created list of foods that are low phosphorous, low potassium and low acid? I don’t want to create my own list if someone has already done it.
2. Are ACE and ARBs still considered kidney protective? Or is that old school thought? And are those BP meds just beneficial for people who spill protein in their urine?
Do you realize how crappy it feels to come here for help and you say "number one and two are fruit and vegetables". My friend got diagnosed with ckd and I'm trying to make a diet for him, and you act like you're helping by telling us "eat your fruits and veggies"
Thanks for the waste of time, 🖕
ARB particularly Telmisarten and Olmisarten may impair the kidney function in long run use..
Thank you. So informative!!!!
Thanks for your advvice. I an a Greek Amarican living in rural Greece however and a lot of the foods you mention are found easily. Could you please take that into consideration?
Phenomenal thanks for the great content
Great info. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing useful information 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this insightful and valuable analysis covering various aspects of kidney health; objective, scientific and objective.
This is so informative, thank you. I discovered by accident my GFR was at 486 when clearing out some old medical documents three years after the bloods were done. I contacted my GP who said 'it's not a problem'. I insisted on checking if there had been further decline. The test came back at 488 a small improvement. I then looked into kidney health and found that a plant based diet was a positive change and as it happened I'd switched to a vegetarian diet two years prior to the second test. I'm now cooking mostly vegan fresh recipes and have very recently introduced regular cardio. I also noted that my sugar HBA1C is at the high end of normal. I find it shocking that a GP wouldn't point these things out, it won't take long to tip over that edge. I didn't realise the link between sugar and kidney health. I'll now set about reducing my carbs. My base line diet is pretty good, but I eat naughty extras that will probably make all the difference. I just checked and my biscuits have 3.5g of sugar in each one! And I don't stop at one! Thanks for this. We are all responsible for our own health but we don't always know how to fix things or the association between one thing and another. It seems diabetes is responsible for so many problems, best to never get there by the sounds of it. Thank you again.
Yes the doctors don't tell us all that we need to know to even help ourselves.
Some don't know how to properly read lab results I found out from my Holistic friend.
Those that do just minimize certain results that can lead to bad health or worsening health.
I think some and in my area most are stuck on making monies through the pharmaceutical companies so they want to give u a bunch of meds of which they get "Kick backs" when they subscribe us these meds.
If they heal us then we don't come back to them and they don't get monies from our insurances that hp them pay for their beautiful homes, cars, clothes and college tuition for their children!!
Yes many are just that greedy for monies that they will jeopardize our well being!!
Educational videos such as these on You Tube are so much needed to open our eyes to helping ourselves even a little bit.
Even being educated just a bit more about our bodies and how they function can make such a difference and keep us out of the doctor's offices on a minimum.
And mostly feeling better if not perfect!
To help ur A1C go down take:
4 raw okra
Cut each in 3 pieces
Put in a glass of water and sit in refrigerator over night.
Drink the glass of okra water each day.
REPEAT
Do this each day
Eventually ur A1C will start going down
What do you mean your GFR was at 486?
What does that number indicate?
I am currently at stage 4 CKD and my GFR is at 20,
80-100 is normal.
I have had this same recipe given to me by 2 different people who didn't know one another
This will help lower your A1C LEVEL.
TAKE 4 RAW OKRA
CUT EACH IN 3 PIECES
PLACE ALL PIECES IN A GLASS OF WATER
ACE IN REFRIGERATOR
WHEN MORNING COMES DRONK THE WHOLE GLASS OF THE OKRA WATER
DO THIS EVERY DAY WITH NED OKRA
ALSO EAT A LOT OF PUMPKIN
CAN BE FRESH OR FROM A CAN.
IF FROM A CDN MAKE SURE IT'S PLAIN PUREED PUMPKIN,NOT FLAVORED OR SEASONED.
I'M THINKING U CAN SEASON IT AS U MAKE SOUP OR OTHER PREPARATION IN ORDER TO EAT IT. Soup, pie, soufle' or eat it as is .
If fresh perhaps saute' onions and add pumpkin. Lay over cooked rice with any meat on the side
Great inforrmation you both explained sowell
thank you! :)
Thank you very informative discusstion
Very good advice and teaching
Very informative! I work out a lot and have lowered my carbohydrate intake to vegetables and low sugar fruits like blueberries. I started to combine plant-based protein powder with my non flavored egg protein powder with essential amino acids because plant protein does not have all 9 essential amino acids. Great job guys! Michelle, you are not just intelligent and compassionate, you are very pretty.
Thank you both for all the information.I learn a lot.

You guys are ABSOLUTELY fantastic. You are very clear and understandable. One question for Michele, chicken and turkey, not red meat. Are they ok on the kidneys, or do I hv to stop eating them too. I am stage 5 ckd. Not diabetic, nor do I hv high blood pressure. My problem is the protein. I'm told I hv minimal Change Disease. They can't seem to explain exactly what that is, so I concentrate on the protein problem. I hv drastically changed my diet, but still eat turkey and chicken. Is that OK? Blessings to you both for all the help you're giving us.
Wow sir your explanations are very clear and very real. I had been watching many doctors but you explain the best, unfoftunately the lady talk very fast and slung that i could not catch what she is saying. If you could explain sir in your other vlog please
Thanks Dr , now I know what GFR really is and thats make me feel real good to know what to improve.

Thank you grea minds!!! Man is the God we see!
I have chronic but stable kidney disease and have had GFRs in the mid fifties with high creatine levels. Recently these started to deteriorate. With a few tweaks I improved these. Although I still eat animal food, I put the emphasis more on plant protein and added baking soda in water !x per day. After three weeks of this I improved my GFR to 61 and lowered my creatinine to 125
Happy to hear you have been able to make lifestyle changes and protect your kidney function!
The problem with a kidney diet is when you are diabetic It is a problem to determine what to eat. Both are medial conditions. Wish your nutritionist could address this issue.

I've watched many of these episodes and it makes great sense, however never has the issue of lectins causing inflammation been addressed which must be part of the discussion of plant based diets. How do we assess what is worst inflammtion source, meat, lectins others etc? I know individuals will have a unique response but surely all issues must be on the table for consideration when making life changing nutrition decisions. I think an episode on this would be very useful!
We can definitely do an episode on lectins! I have added it to our list.
