My goodness. I can see why Jo Thompson was a mis texas and she likes to dance....... Wow! Thanks for the eye candy and great dance instruction. Sorry Tim I don't even see you. LOL!!!
I hadn't read who she was, but I couldn't take my eyes off her... and that buttery smooth voice... Oh, yeah, the instruction was first rate too. A+ video.
Thank god for this video. It’s a dance I love. I do not like to drop my heel on the rocks. Unless, I want to be more drifty, I don’t want to move the “step” of my rock step much as this, to me, is more like Bolero I have people telling me that I must lower my heel and move my “step”. As this dance isn’t officially as old as some of the other dances, I really think that’s their opinion and preference. Out of all of the couple dances I know, it’s the one with the least amount of unique technique. It’s more of a social dance, and styles are particular to the dancer’s desire and flavor. Aside from balance and control, who’s to say how I should express myself socially? Thank you
I have a question for you Jo Thomson, Were you a past Ms America? There was a Jo Thomson that came to The Kallet Theather in Oneida, NY. It was a weekend of teaching and a Open dance at night. Jim and Dawn Arkensen Were the Hoist. Jim asked me to attend so I would have a chance to meet and dance with you. I was one of his students that competed. Are You this woman?
The specific dimensions aren't what's important. The idea is that you extend yourself in a long, smooth glide. It should feel natural. You'll know if you're extending too far because it will knock you off balance
Night Club Two Step is an entirely different dance from Texas Two Step. Chalk and cheese. I enjoy both dances but it's quite hard to think of commonalities between the two. As for being "gay", um, what? Night Club Two Step can be a very sensuous dance once you've mastered the basics. If you're finding it to be gay then you're probably just dancing with someone of the same sex. You might find it more hetero to dance with someone of the opposite gender. Either way, it has nothing to do with the dance or the way these folks are teaching it.
Chalk and cheese....definitely! Night Club Two Step is a "two-step" in name only. But....Night Club Two-Step and Texas Two-Step are both really cool dances, although the music and dance styles are worlds apart. In this case, different is good! I've been dancing for five years now, and am training for my first competition. Dancing is the best!!!
This is an EXCELLENT demonstration of the basic step. Huge thanks to y'all!!!!
You are doing a great job of teaching, very throual and you are teaching slow enough for the old generation to learn .

Yes- she was a Top 10 finalist for Miss America. Can't speak for her as to whether that was her you danced with!
What are the measurements of the tape on the floor?

You are completely right. Jo Thompson is well known professional dancer. She is teaching Night Club Two Step in this video not Texas Two Step.
