    Classic scene. Great movie. For those of us who saw it in the theater and witnessed the effect it and the soundtrack had on culture, just like his previous two hits (Saturday Night Fever and Grease), we were able to remember it as a great way to start the 80s. You just knew it was going to be a great decade.

    Travolta is like a natural athlete who can play any sport. But instead he’s a natural dancer that can dance to anything and make it look easy.

    • @drock6966
      @drock6966 2 роки тому +8

      Technically that's not true. John Travolta wasn't a "Natural" dancer. Natural dancers were Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Sammy Davis Jr., etc., etc. When John was offered the role of Tony Manera in Saturday Night Fever, he turned it down because he couldn't dance 😕 The director told him not to worry and that they would teach him and he said he literally had two left feet. Again they told him not to worry and got Deney Terrio (The famous dance choreographer who later worked on Dance Fever) to teach John Travolta how to dance. He really taught him well because from 1977 to present day, John hasn't forgotten what he was taught 🙂

    • @CBendana
      @CBendana 2 роки тому +13

      @@drock6966 well maybe he wasn’t a natural dancer, but definitely had natural potential, which needed to be brought out and refined, but once he got it down, he got it down. Like a hidden talent.

    • @drock6966
      @drock6966 2 роки тому +2

      @@CBendana Natural potential? 🤔 He learned to dance very well after being taught by Danny Terrio and has retained those lessons. He admitted himself that he had two left feet and couldn't dance AT ALL. So the whole "Natural Potential" thing is a bit of a stretch 🙂 Let's just say that he learned to dance and can still hold his own on the dance floor.

    • @CBendana
      @CBendana 2 роки тому +6

      @@drock6966 thats what natural potential is, just because you learn it doesn’t necessarily mean you will be good or great at it and definitely doesn’t mean you will retain it. Not everyone is like Michael Jackson that if you give him a step and a beat he can just outperform professional dancers who’ve been doing it for years. Dancing with the stars is a good example cuz everybody is given the same amount of time to prepare for dances, and week after week, you see who is getting it down more than others.

And many famous musicians and singers from her. Give me a shout out and I’ll tell you where to go. In the mean time listen to ma Cher Zachary Richard the best Cajun singer ever. And best songwriter. He sings every genre you can think of and speaks fluently our language. Canadians love him. I love his sing Reve, the cajien war song, it means wake up and was a warning the Bretagne (brits) were coming. But he has some awesome dance music too. My defan papa (departed sainted father) knew some very famous people that became famous singers and he rode a bus with Elvis Presley when he was at Louisiana Hayride.

    Love this movie, I wrote a song about it. written by Ramona Byrd
    I watched him for awhile
    He flashed that 1000 watt smile
    It reminded me of a certain style
    It was like that movie Debra Winger starred in
    The one where Travolta called her Darlin
    something told me not to put my whole heart in
    I just wanted a cowboy to call me darlin
    I always wanted a cowboy to call me darlin
    Always wanted a white picket fence and a flower garden
    Like a dream I could feel myself fallin
    Always wanted a cowboy to call me darlin
    Music, dancing, good good times
    we went together like tequila and limes
    Break ups and Make ups, Smiles and tears
    A one night stand turned into 10 years
    Time passes and your feelings fled
    but memories of you still dance in my head
    I always wanted a cowboy to call me darlin
    Always wanted a white picket fence and a flower garden
    Like a dream I could feel myself fallin
    Always wanted a cowboy to call me darlin
    The mourners have all gone, and it’s just you here
    I just want to ask, one last thing of you dear
    Ashes to ashes, cry, if you must
    But before you leave my grave,
    Write “Darlin” in the dust.

      Didn't he play a cocky disco dancing street kid from New York City at most 2 years before this? Good actor.

    If I'm not mistaken, Patrick Swayze (or maybe his mom, Patsy) did the choreography for this movie.

    Thanks to this scene and this song when I first saw UC age 12... fast forward to college I found myself a VFW in SW Missouri and a good old country boy to teach me how to 2 step and 3 step! Now I teach every male friend how to 2 step (on the west coast where NO ONE knows how to 2 step)!.

    Classic and cute onscreen couple, and Johnny playing hard to get. LOL. So glad the director James Bridges fought and won to keep Debra Winger on to play Sissy, even though the producer wanted her replaced. RIP Mickey Gilley
