What a result mate, we’ll done!!!!!!!!! I’ve recently discovered your channel and I really like the videos you do. Watching you visit rarely fished locations is really interesting, catching a 22lb grass carp from that section of canal is much better than watching someone catch a +40lbs fish from a carp fishery IMO 👍
What a catch. This is why I love fishing canal's, I feel they are so underrated by alot of anglers. Gungeon, perch, roach, Rudd, Dace, Skimmers, Bream, Tench, Chubb, Pike, Carp, you never know what you're going to catch and that's the beauty of Canal's 🎣🙂
Really enjoyed that outing on the canal bank. As other comments have said, you take us with you and it's just like we're sitting by your side watching it all happen. That was a monster grass carp for sure!
Nicely done Chris and congrats on a new PB. Suspecting that there were fish of that size in there I think I would have tackled up a bit more so to land him on 8lb line is a great achievement. Love the videos and especially the fact that you rest them for so long and show it. A great example for all anglers and especially some of the younger ones who may follow you.
I'm just getting back into fishing after a long absence & really like your roving / stalking style. IMO it beats sitting in one place on a huge lake for hours on end. I have the Grand Union canal near me so I'll be giving it a try on my push bike like I used to do when I was a kid. Keep up the good work, I've learnt a lot already.
As an expat Pom, came out to Australia in the late eighties. Dad n I would go fishing using a lot of the 'English' coarse fishing techniques you use and some others! With great success Lol. Aussie Carp are very big, very clever and very agressive, great fun on light gear. Bread, corn kernals and worm are the best. Had to smile when it 'took off' every time it saw you. Remember standing 'gentlemans area' deep in freezing cold water at Lake Eildon for over an hour with the landing net when dad hooked into the biggest Carp I had ever seen on very light line. Our scales only went to 30lb and it was maxed out!. He got the biggest Carp of the day, but I got the biggest Roach and trout. Pack your kit and head over now we can travel...... 🤣
Absolutely amazing video and it portrays (for me) just how fishing should be. The surprise and the joy and dubilation at catching a magnificent prize like that, that you didn't even really know was there. Yes you said there were 2 carp but to be your first Grass carp and over 20lb. Brilliant fishing and well done for making the train journey over there. Also, lets not let the carp over shadow 2 specimen roach. Lovely fish, well done!!
That was awesome! Love that feeling when you just know you’re into a biggun and then you see it for the first time and its on!! Heart in the mouth and legs start shaking. Epic battle mate thanks for sharing
Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite. Your presentation is spot on,you seem like top bloke. Enjoying every single video. Well done mate, keep em coming! Greetings from Northern Australia.
Been carp fishing for over twenty years and only just recently had my first grass carp. It was 21and half pounds and although I've had normal carp to over 30lbs the grass carp was the hardest fight i ever had, it just kept going and going. I was completely exhausted with adrenaline shakes and is considered one of my best ever catches. you did extremely well to catch such a fish especially considering you are not a carp fisherman. Awesome video as always mate.
This is how fishing should be. After a while you get lazy and end up either being a boilie chucking robot or bored shitless at commercial fishery where you land a lipless 4lb carp a chuck. Seeking out unusual waters, using traditional and orthodox baits, using light tackle - that's where the magic is.
Congratulations on landing that 22lb grass carp on a canal. Just found your channel after a friend recommended your channel. You have real talent no matter what you are fishing for. All the best for the future and keep those videos coming.
grass carp are sometimes stocked to keep the weed growth down. the numbers have to be right or they eat pretty much all the vegetation and turn the water into pea soup. they look a bit weird but they give really good sport on light tackle and don't seem as shy as ordinary carp
These are amazing fish, My son had one half this size and every time we dipped the net in the water it took off again!, My lad had broken bones in his hand years before, His fight with this grassie left him with a massively swollen hand, He was almost at the point of asking me to take the rod from him!!, Well done on your mahoosive one!! 👍😎😎😎
Super fish, really enjoyed seeing your epic battle with him. I have never fished for Carp but my word what a great fight. Your videos are excellent and your communication skills and love of your sport come through really well. Thank you for sharing your day out. Js
Welldone Chris, such an awesome Grass Carp 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. No rain or storm this time and you stayed on the Bank with out falling in🤣🤣🤣. Stay safe mate all the best from Downunder 👍
Greetings from the Madison River in Montana. It's below zero here but with UA-cam I get to go fishing on a lovely canal. Wonderful video, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for putting in the work and congratulations on a fabulous fish.
What a result. Well played. But if you think you had it hard. An elderly friend caught a 31Lb grass on a fly rod with a 7Lb leader. Took him over an hour to land it... he was 78 when he caught it. Sadly no longer with us. Great video. Am now subscribed.
I've watched every single video from ur channel from like the past year or sommet and I've just binged ur channel so just keep getting happier and happier eveytime I see a vid from u
That’s absolutely astounding I knew there were carp in that section but no idea there were grassies in there. Free lining is on my to do list there next year. Well done that’s brilliant.
GREAT SHOW, GREAT FISH, well done for landing that fish, nice Roach as well, its funny when you say people are watching you, but your being watched worldwide, keep up the great work :)
Genuinely stoked for you mucca 👍🏻👍🏻 yet another great video 👍🏻😉 . 5:13 take literally nano seconds before the ducks 😂😂👍🏻 nice to see some clonking Roach ...stay cool 😎
Well done Chris , lovely specimen of a grass carp , That's how you want the fish to fight that's what makes it's a challenge and very exciting , If they all fought like bream it would be boring , Again well done and tight lines .
Powerful fish !!! wow good angling lovely grass carp 👍🏻great that you captured it all on video you can feel your tension as your playing it !! Brilliant
Very well done fella, nice fish. One thing we can learn from this is, never mind all of these fancy baits you can buy, bread is possibly one of the best baits you can get ! And no, I'm not a baker !!
Excellent work man! Congratulations! Never had the pleasure of netting a Grass Carp but I’m told they fight HARD! Keep up the good work. Love your videos! 👍🏻
Beautiful fish mate, keep up the good work on the videos as well me and my son love watching your trips out and has got us out chasing our rivers for some chub 🇬🇧🎣
Hell of a fish man, I was laughing the whole time because I’ve caught a bunch of those guys around that size and they fight harder than anything in fresh water in my opinion. Beautiful grassy!
I agree with you. Grass carp might be the most powerful fish with sturgeons. I don't fish carp. But one day I saw a friend of mine starting a big one, around this size on video. And that was the same, once it see the net, it goes everythere it can except the net. What an epic fight! Congrats
@@gauthierdeltell1205 sturgeon around me don’t fight that strong compared to carp and barbel , biggest I caught is 12lb tho so maybe that’s small idk .
@@onlyfins3835 I saw your video. Nice sturgeon, a little bigger for the net 😄 It's typical with grass carps when it does powerful rush until the end of the fight. It's not the same with sturgeons. When you catch a big specimen, it's like it's stuck at the bottom but it's not the same as a grass carp more energic definitely. Also it depends on the size of the fish. That carp was mega! Some people would spend ages with bite alarms and 3 rod trying to get that, however sometimes just back to the basics is the way to go one rod one hook and a loaf of bread 🍞 nice one mate

Congratulations to you chris proper carp fishing i fish the rivers and canals for carp love it what a fish awesome fishing hats off to ya chris well done and very well deserved Congratulations CHRIS,Dellboy
Nice! All the years I’ve been carp fishing and never caught an over grown chub like that! Quality Grass that! No better feeling than the rod ripping, the nerves fighting and relief/adrenaline of landing it. Only thing I’d say is try to fish for more carp on the channel and get footage of them taking freebies off the top before flicking the rod in. Record in 4K from a long way up/behind you and crop on edit 👍
Fantastic! I kept hearing Carp, I wasn't expecting a Grass Carp, never seen one in person, only in Angling Times and you-tube etc... They sure do 'hang on' lol

Nice reply mate, me too getting back this year, first time for over 9 years, was into angling in a big way, tight lines.
Netting a grass carp can be tricky, you don’t want to net them to early. I have seen big ones jump out of a carp net. Nice job on landing this one! 👍
A gras carp jumped out of my 42inc carp net .
Yup. happened to me years ago on the Danube. Still catching carp will never stop being fun. Such a good fighting fish
