Yeah, there is way too much attention to the hero ball dudes who put up stats and spectacular plays. Dynasties are about winning, consistently. Spurs - team ball. Warriors - team ball. It's about coaching and the buy-in of players to be unselfish. Curry is the engine of the Warriors' team effort. Dude has been an offensive threat since high school.
Wilt is the best overall athlete in NBA history in terms of size, strength, and explosiveness. If size didn’t matter it’d be Iverson pound for pound athlete. Halfway between AI and Wilt on the size scale is MJ. So take your pick of who you want to build around and build accordingly. Every team can win if it’s built properly around the star.
It should be said that although Wilt was the biggest force the league has seen, he was actually more of a finesse player, his fadeaway was one of the beautiful shots ever.
Before Curry the previous greatest shooter in NBA history wasn’t in the Top 10 so just because he’s now the best shooter doesn’t automatically put him in the Top 10
@@branblock1 the best shooter before steph wasn’t the best player on a 73 win team and only unanimous mvp EVER , I agree that he shouldn’t get on the list off of shooting alone but he is way more than the best shooter also one of the best winners in nba history
The players that came first set the bar, and a less softer league. Anyone who comes after has to surpass that bar! Anyone who disagrees is both ageist and is filled with recency bias.
Wilt only won when he played for the team, which he hardly ever did. Check his stats when the won the chips, they were lower. These were the seasons he listened to his coach. Part of being a great player is knowing how to play tactically and Wilt only knew how to play for himself. Steph doesn’t play for stats,he goes for titles and gets the stats along the way.
Idk man I disagree. Wilt just did what the coaches told him to. When they told him to pass more, he led the league in assists... The man is just a beast
@@MrBobby13531 "He said in training camp that he wanted to lead the league in assists. He thought that would be cool. Of course, we all thought that would be cool too. But he didn't want us to run. "Wilt wanted to be involved in every half-court play, so he stood there in the middle and all of us would run around him and he tried to pile up his assists. You've got to remember that assists were kept much more strictly back then. There was none of this stuff like today where you can take three dribbles and a head-fake and it counts. You got assists if you caught the pass and made the shot. So that meant Wilt would only pass it to guys who could catch and shoot -- Luke, Billy sometimes, Wali, Hal and me. In my case, he'd try to get me to just go backdoor for a layup, because he didn't trust me to do much else. And he'd never pass it to Chet Walker, because Chet always had to be pump-faking or use a dribble and take away the assist." - Matt Guokas And no, he didn't just do what the coaches told him, he resisted. That's why he clashed with coaches: "But Chamberlain made it clear that he did not like to be told what to do. He complained to reporters about Hannum's strategy, and Hannum insisted to the same men that Chamberlain was going to have to change. The tension built until one night in Vancouver, British Columbia, shortly before the opening game of the regular season. Hannum and Chamberlain got into a violent locker-room argument and avoided coming to blows only when the other players intervened. Hannum, deciding a showdown was necessary, ordered the other players out, then took off his jacket. 'You've been fighting me as a coach all the way,' Hannum said. 'Now fight me as a man.' Chamberlain glared at Hannum for a long moment and then folded, saying, 'Aw, I can't fight you, Alex.' Hannum felt that his approach was vindicated when, in the opening game of the season, against Baltimore, the Warriors won easily though Wilt scored only twenty-three points. In the second game, against St. Louis, the Warriors won again with Wilt scoring only twenty-two. As the team continued to win, sportswriters began talking about the "new Chamberlain" and the "new Warriors." One article was headlined, "The fight to remodel Wilt Chamberlain." This emphasis irritated Chamberlain, suggesting as it did that he had previously been an immature and selfish player who was responsible for the failures of his teams. Despite grudgingly yielding to Hannum's authority, he still resented the coach, and complained about him to Guy Rodgers, one of his closest friends on the team. But Rogers thought Hannum's strategy was obviously paying off. Rogers wanted to see the Warriors win, and it vexed him that Chamberlain seemed willing to put his own pride ahead of the best interests of the team. 'You've got to bow down, Wilt,' Rodgers told Chamberlain. Mad Dog states at 2:02 that Shaq played against weak center competition. When Shaq first came (1992-93) into the league, the top centers were: Robinson, Olajuwon, Ewing, Mutombo and Mourning. That's a very solid group of Hall of Famers. Ewing and Olajuwon were the oldest of the group at age 30. There was also Brad Daughtery, but his career was cut short. Rik Smiths had a decent career and Rony Seikely was very underrated. It wasn't until the 1997-98 season that Shaq began to consistently be voted onto the 1st team All-NBA. As time went on, and this group got old and/or retired, the center position was no longer as noteworthy. By 2002, the third team All-NBA center was Ben Wallace - a great defensive ballplayer, but very limited offensively. There were a few players emerging who were in the PF/Center mold: Duncan, Gartnett, Webber and to some extent Nowitski but I don't believe they consistently matched up 1:1 against Shaq in games. Yao Ming came along later on. Brad Miller and Ilgauskas were decent during the second half of Shaq's career, but far from hall of famers. So the fact check on Mad Dog is that he's half right. The first 7 or so years of Shaq's career, there were many great centers in the league but the level diminished in the following 7 years. In his 19 year career, Shaq was dominant for the first 13-14 seasons (thru 2005-06)

Imagine how many years did KD have before joining Curry to show he is better than Lebron, then left Curry and got swept by a team that Curry is about to take down. Pair a guy like Giannis or Lebron with Steph, and do the same for any of those top 10 players like kobe and lebron, MJ and lebron, duncan and lebron etc. Imagine which pair will be the most unstoppable. KD had a ton of chances playing with numerous superstars in westbrook, harden, kyrie etc. KD could not succeed playing with any of them for 10 YEARS!!!! KD joined Curry and instantly become "best player" and NO TEAM COULD COME CLOSE to beating them. GSW became a champ guarantee! We all know lebron is better than KD. Prime Lebron had wade, bosh, kyrie, love, AD, Westbrook. Did Lebron ever had the dominance of Curry+KD GSW?? Not even close! Lebron had wade and bosh and lost to dirk and spurs. This doesn't get enough recognition in the discussion, especially in era when it became so crucial.
a lot of the hall of famers Russell played with are only hall of famers cause they won titles next to Russell Frank Ramey - hall of farmer - 0 allstars, 0 all NBA Tom Sanders - hall of fame - 0 allstars, 0 all NBA KC Jones - hall of fame - 0 allstars, 0 all NBA Don Nelson - hall of fame - 0 allstars, 0 all NBA but they all had like 5-8 titles because of Russell
Same could be said of Curry though. Draymond and Iggy probably wouldn't be HOF if they weren't a part of the Warriors dynasty, but they certainly are having been part of that winning culture. Even Klay might be seen as a fringe HOFer based on his stats if he weren't a multiple time champ.
@@christhomas1970 individually speaking that would be objectively untrue, if you include the intangibles debatable, wilt was better individually because he had to do more individually since he had to carry his team on both ends of floor since his team didn't have veteran soccer's, passers so he had to do all the work if Bill was asked to he prob could but he wasn't so from what each of them has done individually wilt was better
You still cant put Curry above shaq, if Curry wins he will have 4 chips with one FMVP. Shaq have 4 with 3 FMVP. Curry is the best shooter the same way Shaq is the most dominant in the paint. These guys live in the moment for god sakes!!
Shaq had Kobe take Kobe off that team and he’s not winning the same amount. Just like if you take KD off the Warriors Steph would lose 1-2 rings. Steph also deserved a FMVP over Dola low key

These guys and their any takes! Russell played with 9 hall of famers? Stop it! None of those guys were as good as Jerry West and Elgin Baylor! Some of them were named hall of famers because of the ring count! 2-3 of those guys never made an all star team. I would expect this from Amare, but come on Mad dog you should know better. Look at the last couple of years Russell played and name anyone on their team except Russell, Jones and Hondo? Wilt had great players especially from. 65 on...
Steph Curry is the GREATEST shooter of all time. Everyone says that. So therefore if he is the GREATEST shooter in NBA history, and has won 4 World Championships, how is he not a Top 10 All Time player? He is💯a Top 10 player all time.
Steph is top 10 ... He's better than Bird, Kobe and Duncan ... All 3 who I have great admiration for. Kobe my favorite player all time ... BUT Steph has had a bigger impact on the game. When I was a kid we'd lower the rim and dunk like Jordan (which is how adjustable rims became a thing). In high school we'd crossover like Iverson, and now watching my son play, all the kids are shooting 3s. He's literally changed the game and impacted an entire generation. 4 rings, all the major awards and the greatest shooter to ever walk on Earth. In 20 years this generation will have him top 10, and if he wins another you can bump that up to 5 💯✌️
so its bird, magic, bill, kareem, wilt, shaq, hakeem, lebron, kobe, jordan, duncan. thats 11 even if u say bill offensively but defensively and rebounding is 2nd to wilt
Alot of ppl are into narratives instead of REALITY-BASED opinions ‼️💯 Guys like oscar Robertson and jerry west.....are Legendary players who didn't get the Attention and the Advantage of playing in a era that was T.V. and multi- media Friendly ‼️💯 Those guys were probably better than Steph But we live in this microwave society now that AWARDS instantly gratification to Today's Stars‼️💯 .....And what about pistol pete Averaging 40 points a game in college‼️ or The great Dale Ellis ‼️💯
Steph curry may not be a better player then some of these guys listed, which is true…but he sits on the very small table of players who changed the way basketball is played. Wilt (and to a lesser degree Bill Russell), Magic, Michael, and Steph all sit at that table. Lebron, durant, and Shaq sit at a table by themselves because they have physical God given abilities that nobody can replicate (Magic sits at both those tables by the way) but because Steph is one of those game changing players, he has to be in the top 10 for me.
Ok Steph even if he wins 4th ring and 1st Finals MVP is not Top 10. He's definitely Top 13-15. For me it's a toss up between Hakeem and Steph but I have to go with Hakeem. Give Hakeem KD and Klay and they are beating any team in history. Unfortunately for Hakeem he never had great team around him until he got old. Even so he had arguably best Playoff run (toss up with Dirk) in history in 94 and then also great in 95. Then to top it off he was THE ONLY player to beat Kareem , Magic and Worthy in Playoffs between 1985 and 1988. Lakers won 3 out of 4. He did it with Samson and Lewis LLoyd as 3rd scoring option on those Rockets lol. Thats better than beating Lebron, Kyrie and KLove with much less help than Steph.
Then at least Steph's better than Oscar Robertson. Also, about the Hakeem beating Kareem, Magic, and Worthy, Kareem was already close to his forties and Worthy was but a regular starter who averaged 19 points. The Cavs, on the other hand, had prime Lebron, who's a top 2 player in history, Kyrie Erving, a man capable of averaging 25, and Kevin Love, the person with a 30+30 game.
@@dongxing123 I can agree Stephs better than Oscar. Ok Kareem was declining but again they won in 85,86 and 88.The only team that beat them was Rockets during that 4 year stretch. Boston with Parish,Bird and McHale couldnt beat them not Pistons. Hakeem was clearly the best player with 2nd best Sampson and the rest were not even good. Meanwhile Steph wasnt even best player in 17 and 18 . KD was, then there was Klay and Draymond.
@@cezaryadamski8786 KD was only FMVP because Tyronn Lue decided to double Curry for the whole entire duration of the finals. Steph was double-teamed more than 10 times the amount Durant was doubled, and this freed so much stress from Durant, who can now shoot from open windows and looks generated by Steph Curry. Yes, Hakeem may have beaten prime Magic Johnson, he still can't win the championship without Clyde Drexler. You can't say that a player is better than another play because he defeated a really good team in one round, because then I'd be able to say that Dirk's better than Lebron because he beat the Miami Heat single handedly. You have to look at individual and team honors, and with Steph with 2 mvps (one unanimous), 4 (if he wins tomorrow) rings, 1 Fmvp, it just barely trumps Hakeem's 2 mvp 2 FMVP +1 DPOY feat. Steph's not better than Hakeem yet, but he will be if he wins the ring this year.
Every player mad dog named, curry has a totally different style of game play than all these players. Plus you can say all those players games, but wen u switch up that format to favor Currys game he's arguably top 5 all time.
Oscar Robertson is better overall than Stephen Curry, not better 3pt shooter, but in every other statistical aspect, The Big O is a huge guard and plays much bigger than Stephen Curry, his impact was greater!!
Curry for me, is the best teammate of all time, if you put him with any of theses legends, they are winning the championship.

And no, he didn't just do what the coaches told him, he resisted. That's why he clashed with coaches:
"But Chamberlain made it clear that he did not like to be told what to do. As the team continued to win, sportswriters began talking about the "new Chamberlain" and the "new Warriors." One article was headlined, "The fight to remodel Wilt Chamberlain."
This emphasis irritated Chamberlain, suggesting as it did that he had previously been an immature and selfish player who was responsible for the failures of his teams. "Admit it, cat, that we're a much better club with you feeding us part of the time and then getting back to protect our basket.'

Mad Dog is a radio sports legend. He's a true historian when it comes to sports

Imagine the bust that Wiggins was for so many years, and then suddenly and "coincidentally" become a superstar after playing along side curry. U can have the world's greatest engineers and never triumph anything, while there are literally over thousands of engineers smarter than elon musk, BUT they are not greater than him. Like reggie miller said, even he could shoot over MJ, imagine what Curry would've done. I'm not putting Curry over MJ just yet, but imagine GSWs ball movement with Curry and Klay both shooting at normal, MJ is not winning those 6 rings so easily. U putting magic, MJ, russel, lebron...duncan, robertson all before steph? Do this instead. Curry and KD GSW would've obliterated the Spurs or Dallas. And we know Lebron is better than KD. So how is that possible????
You're speaking facts but it's either they can't fathom the reality or just plain self denial.
Add Wiggins in the mix. As I've said before, they don't need Kd but atleast a better upgrade for Harrison Barnes. Now they got Wigs same result a championship team and it's all because of Curry's effect.
The fact you have steph in your top 10 already makes this invalid but anyways, steph still out here with only ZERO fmvp, 0 all defense selection, 0 dpoy, had one if the coldest shots in nba history hit on his head, blew a 3-1 lead in the finals, 2015 beat the cavs that had 2 of thier best players injured and still went to game 6, 2017 and 2018 beat a far worse cavs team, while still putting up less numbers then both kd and lebron he has no argument for being the best in any of his rings, like just because he can shoot and he gets double teamed doesn't make him a top 10 player lol, every top 10 player has been double or triple teamed almost entire games especially guys like wilt and shaq, curry efficiency when thr games within 3 points IS FAR worse the when the difference is double digits Clearly showing where steph gets points (when the games already far outta reach and his playing againist bench players) like why do pll think his top 10 he literally accomplished less then 11 players objectively speaking lol
To be honest, I would take Curry over Magic
I wouldn't, but that's the conversation he belongs in for sure. Easily top 10.

Tired of these top 10 talks. So many deserve spots for different reasons. Steph personifies the best of team work, selflessness, joy, decency on and off the court, quiet demeanor that plays the exact opposite, and defying the rule of physical attributes in the game of professional basketball that requires big, physical body. And he’s the best shooter we’ve ever witnessed - the ONLY indisputable argument in the history of NBA. You can even argue about who the GOAT is - Michael or LeBron or Bill Russell… but you can’t argue about who the best shooter is without being laughed off the court. So top 10 or not, Steph is actually in a class all by himself.
Steph is no where near a top 10 player
Stephen gotta get another ring to be top 10. When your in the top 10 it’s all about being the overall best player in the league at one point. Stephen maybe was known as the best player in 2016 when he won mvp but then Lebron won the championship against him down 3-1 so it’s hard being in the top 10 everybody is soooooo great 💯
He is already top 10 right now...MJ,Bron, KAJ,Magic,Duncan, Shaq, Bird, Kobe..then Curry..Russell is 10th. Hakeem, KD, Giannis,Moses Malone and Wilt are in the next 5 spots and none of them has Curry's greatness
Steph is the best point guard to play the game. He is better than magic. People literally forget that every other point guard like magic have to run an offense to get their team going. Steph just has to pass half court. Because his shooting ability is such a threat the court opens up so much. The more open the court is the easier the team can score. Also, the offense revolves around him. If you try man on steph he will cook, you try double teaming steph, good luck guarding the warriors with outside shooters.
And if you think steph isn't better than kd, Steph dropped 43 on the celtics while kd couldn't even find his own rythm until game 4 lol

clearly yoy don't know why the majority pick magic as the best pg. he played 9 nba finals in like 12 years and won 5 of them. and curry only having 4 all nba 1st team doesn't help his case since he already lost in how many mvps league/finals he has compared to magic 🤷
