Type 3 is known as the The Achiever, The Performer, and The Role Model. Type 8 is known as The Boss, The Protector, and The Challenger.
What we know 👇
Similarities
Both Type 3 and Type 8 have the forward-thinking and fast-paced assertive energy.
Leadership tends to come more natural for these types and they both can be very ambitious and very competitive. They want to rise above the rest, but how they go about that is very different.
Core Drivers
At the end of the day though, the thing that makes a Three a Three and an Eight an Eight is their core driver or core strategy for getting their needs met and aligning most with their key values.
For a Type 3 that is to feel outstanding, successful, and accomplished.
For a Type 8 that is to feel powerful, strong, and in control.
Key differences
When the core strategy still isn't clear, there are some important key differentiators for these two to help you continue to narrow down your dominant type, including:

✔️your relationship with what others think of you
✔️how you handle problems
✔️what you tap into first (without thinking about it) when you make a decision

I'm a self-preservation type 3, so I look a lot like a 1 (and sometimes an 8). It confused me for a while before I learned about the subtypes.

I love checklists and details but I'm also prone to anger..so what type am I ?
Probably an 8, I like checklists too, it actually helps me feel more I control of things. My business partner is a 3 and is big picture, doesn’t like to do lists but is better at helping the group work together and noticing others strengths, where as an 8 I’m more can they keep up with me or can’t they. So maybe in that way the threes are more detail oriented on some things
Loving checklists has levels.
My partner is a three and they have a checklist for every area of their life - they don’t just love them, they hold them up as a way to measure themselves and they experience a sense of failure if they are incomplete or if they miss days
That shows a clear process orientation. I have an outcome (results over process) orientation. If I accomplish a goal, I do not care what the process was, I have no Fidelity to the process and will abandon it altogether if I can accomplish my goal another way.

These two can be tough - Something else that I recommend is reflecting on what areas you most want to work on - based on that is there type's growth path that makes more sense?
8w7 here, actually disagree with the details part. Because we like to have control over our environments we do like to look at details and I do like the rules; as long as I’m the one who made them.
different stroke. I have no patience for details and butt heads often with people who are fixated on them or who are more rules focused than results focused like all compliance types 1, 2, 6
@@realSimoneCherie sure, sometimes though it’s the attention to details that end up producing the results. I only like to follow rules that I made or I agree with, whereas compliance types will follow the rules because that’s what you’re supposed to do. Whereas the cp6s will break the rules or not follow them just for the sake of that. The 8 does what serves them and their way best
