Dylan with the long game on this one. Any game that he doesn't have voice is a handicap for him. His table talk is next level. Always track your outs, as well as the outs of your opponents.
The position at 24:45 is insane. A wood or brick gives would give him longest road, winning him the game. A sheep or wheat would give him the settle + city, winning him the game. And an ore could be used for either winning play.
Oh wow, Green blew that at the end, they had enough to connect road and put road at 9 but got greedy with 7knights played still leaving 8 more (since we cant see what's in everyone's hand) trying to pull for who knows what. I think if he connects road he wins on his next turn, with city or ,multiple pulls, or at least pushes the game a few more rounds. Very close and GG to all.
It's crazy how you only get to your 3rd point at 17:50 and than steamroll from there on(you technically have army by that time but still your production up to this point was two settlements). gg
Not all cities are equal. Upgrading that OWS spot to a city basically doubled his production. The fact that he was behind on board also kept the robber away from him and allowed him to get decent trades, which really helps. Then of course there's the RNG factor.
@@poro3246 agreed. It's really hard to win catan if you get the early lead. Being second (or in this case third) and leaping ahead at the end is the best strat.
Don't you think your opponents did a huge mistake by not taking roads ? I mean, a this level, i expect them to be more aware of the sneaky road builder. I often see players losing just because one or more players don't connect
I guess at 25:00 (when you port for brick) you can just connect your road (road builder + wood-brick). This gives you 2 points for road and immediate win. Am I missing something?
ill never understand why people dont connect late like you have to or some one can just do what Dylan did, its like they are so scared of points late but also i feel like they lose more then they win by holding
imo green made a major mistake going for the sheep port instead of the ore port. Not for the port itself obviously, but because going that route he would have connected using 2 less roads. And wood was valuable to him. Had he done you would not have stolen this in the end.
Sadly what didn't exist some program of analysis for this game like gto trainers for poker or extreme gammon for backgammon. But probably after 5 years some bots of next gen can ez do that for us, I think so we didn't know nothin about nuances of balance of this game
@@DrOmegaBattleSphere ohhhh yea that completely slipped my mind. i was so preoccupied with how he didnt play another dev yet that turn that i forgot that rule lol
Everyone should be anonymous.. they can possibly just list the names of all players.. then simply make the chat names the colors. No one knows who is playing what color.
Major missplay on the wheat trade for a brick into a colony at 24:45, you had the game with roadbuilding and the brick/wood from the colony for 2 VP so 10 from 8.
You could have won at 24:54 on the previous turn. All you had to do after you bought the 2 roads for free card is trade wheat 3:1 and get a brick like you did but build the 3 roads you need to connect and you would have had longest road and won instead of settling.
Nav1777, the number 1 player on colonist here. Let’s set up a game with me, you, dandy, and someone else sometime. Perhaps a 5 game series even. Would be fantastic content.
I probably would've have taken that as second pick as I like having all 5 resources. I don't think its better though, especially in a game with skilled players. You may make an enemy of green and maybe red if you get greedy and try to plow to the 5-10. You also appear to be the strongest, so you're blocked/robbed more often. And finally number diversity, if the 10s or 9s don't roll, you don't have much to do and even when they do roll, brick/sheep or wood/ore do not coordinate well.
I stopped watching at 13:45 because I hate how the software allows people to cheat. A pair of deals that have the net result of a gift from one player to another is illegal in Catan.
It’s not explicitly stated as you’ve written that this is illegal. The rules specifically mention that you may not give away cards I.e x:0 where x > 0 in a single trade. However the net result is irrelevant as a combination of multiple trades.
@@Rainn2407 There was a ruling on this at a national event ... for a situation almost identical to this one ... in which it was found to be illegal. Amusingly enough, Dylighted was involved in the case or at least posted a video about it. So, for him to take advantage of the software to do this was particular low.
Well, they are playing Colonist, not Catan. It doesn't matter what some Catan Studio people decided. As long as it's within the rules of the tournament it's perfectly fine.
Apparently, every alt on colonist is me 😂 Thanks for sharing Dylan and great job making playoffs.

wow loved the 30 seconds you were undercover!
Dylan is so omega brained he even knows when is best to reveal his identity to have to advantage of manipulating everyone
If everyone thinks the alt account is Drew or Dylan, does it really take much thought to see that revealing his identity is the best move?
At 24:45 it is kind of insane to think you were 1 of ANY CARD away from being able to 3x Road and win with Longest Road.
exept wheat i guess :)
but yeah, good catch!
One more wheat wouldn't have done it, right?
@@trumpetperson11 1 wheat does it cuz he ports for brick (3 left) and settles on the 3:1 port to have 2 wheat remaining
@@edwinkobert5366 One Wheat would have given him Settle + City for the win instead.
Wouldn’t he need 2 wheat for that 3(ore)+3(brick)+2(city)+1(settlement)?
a masterclass in pacing. stay behind the whole time then slingshot into first place
Thanks for all the high-level content lately! Very interesting to watch and listening to your thoughts!

He could either connect or pull a development card. He decided to try to pull for the win first, then connect the turn after as he can’t do both.
Crazy to take road for win. Snowball was real this game
Well done Dylan !! Really GG on this game

Oh, I see, you already played dev card.
Did you remember you free wood port option?
You were sitting at 2 VP for so much of this game!
25:00 you got the brick wod for one road and the road builder for 2 more if you connect do you do the double play and win right now?
Can't play dev card on same turn you buy it
ill never understand why people dont connect late like you have to or some one can just do what Dylan did, its like they are so scared of points late but also i feel like they lose more then they win by holding
Video idea: Use voice changer and go ultra undercover mode.
Go in with the grandma voice like the anti scammer youtubers
Go in with DandyDrew's voice LOL
I think people will quickly realize it's Dylan just by the way he talks, but I'd love him to try it out tbh.
dylan missed a wood port use with green
imo green made a major mistake going for the sheep port instead of the ore port. Not for the port itself obviously, but because going that route he would have connected using 2 less roads. And wood was valuable to him. Had he done you would not have stolen this in the end.
do you ever play cities and knights? its my favorite expansion tbh. varies up whats valuable
Honest question, Is this hard table talk making every kind of deal allowed in tournaments?
So you didn’t go undercover in a catan final tournament
Sadly what didn't exist some program of analysis for this game like gto trainers for poker or extreme gammon for backgammon. But probably after 5 years some bots of next gen can ez do that for us, I think so we didn't know nothin about nuances of balance of this game
“Apedraeminha” (red) means “the ore is mine”😂😂
What is a “non steal”
Had to watch this in 0.75 speed to follow what is going on.... Great video anyways, very interesting
Do you know anything about voice modulators? Seems like that way you could go undercover and still make use of your table talk skills
Thumbnail should probs say "Day Finals" or something instead of Grand finals...
I feel like you could have asked for trades for your wood instead of 4:1 at 7:45
I just won 3 4 player games In a row feelin good today
At 24.54, why didn’t you port 3 wheat for a brick. Then make1 road + Road Building and take road to win😁.
You can’t play a DC on the turn you pull it. He drew the card and has to wait until next turn to play that card
Did you miss a win at 25:00 by not using the road builder + porting for a brick to drop a third road and connect?? Mayb im wrong
You are wrong, you can't play it the turn you get it!

he outs himself in the VC because they are suspecting him ton be a good player (DandyDrew)
