I'm an older lady, I'm on my own with that said, trying to make a derelict old cottage livable is my dream.
I’ve felt really lucky to follow along with this series. You might not realise it, but you’re a godsend to anyone who didn’t have a da themselves to teach them these things. From those of us who are aspiring to your level of handiness, and wanting to fix up our communities - thank you. Not only do you explain your process clearly and give useful tips about farming and repair, you do the same teaching about what it means to be a hardworking, humble, and dedicated man.
I hope your own father recovers quickly, and that he can take a well deserved break without guilt knowing that his son is setting the best kind of example for the next generation.
That’s a very nice comment which I appreciate greatly
"I'll fix that" may be the three most common words said in this wonderful restoration project. Wishing your grand old dad a speedy recovery.
Looks like it's ready to rent out . Omg what a pit
Adrian, the blue socket you put on the outside of the house for connection to the generation should be a “inlet” type and not a socket, to connect your generator in the current set up you will need a lead with a male plug on both ends and could cause a situation where one end is plugged in and you have bare live pins at the other end
I was thinking the same
Yup. Electrician here. Lethal dangerous but easily put right.
Very valid point that🤔The only thing he could do is not fire the generator up until both males are plugged in and nothing live exposed
Plug the lead into the wall socket before plugging into the generator. And unplug from the generator before unplugging from the wall socket.
Brilliant comment. I came on to warn about this also. The solution about turning the generator off first doesn’t work as it only takes one mistake to get a shock. Easy to put right as stated by someone else. Electrician here also. Thanks for the videos
I build, we build 🤟
Cottage looks well with the doors, and the lights, wish your Dad a speedy recovery
I’m so pleased to see you start work on the cottage. I’ve really been looking forward to this project.
I wish I had a man as handy as you are about my place, I’ve plenty needs doing. Great work, Adrian. Just putting the new doors on has smartened up the place no end and gives the house a lived in feeling, it’s going to be lovely when you’ve finished it. 👏👏👏👌
Be careful what you wish for 😄 😁
@Open20penUT
Boy, isn’t that the truth! He’d be kept busy the first 6 months at my house with all the repairs needed!
It’s lovely to see the sun shinin’ there Adrian.
A dad is always a dad, no matter the age of his wee boy! 😂
Hopefully your Dad will soon be back on his feet. It's clear Adrian that you have inherited something of your Dad's indomitable spirit. It is heartening to watch you breath life back into the old house. Best wishes John
You are blessed to have your dad so long. I lost my dad when I was 14 back in 1981 . Enjoy every day you have with him . Great video as always.
Get better soon, iFarm senior! There are worse places to be than nice and warm in hospital with all your needs being taken care of by nurses and a couple of lads to talk to.
I wouldn't want to be in a US hospital, but an Irish hospital is probably a much nicer prospect.
not anymore im afraid our hospitals are gone to hell here now all the money goes to the people in suits in fact you would get a vet quicker now than a docter
I was 14 when my daddy died I was the only girl and I was a daddy's girl.
Poor man hope ok good checking up on.ya that don't need be farm in good hands ya and family
The blocks of concrete on the bottom of the door frames was to keep the frame from rotten the pin was put into the frame before it was fixed then the blocked wer caseed and filled with concrete I don a few of them with my father I am enjoying the work on the house
Hi Adrian, best wishes for a speedy recovery to father ❤️, in some older properties the door frames / jambs are spiked to a plinth using steel spikes
for anchorage it also keeps it out of the wet/damp for longer life.
Let there be light. Hope Dad feels better soon.
Came for the cottage, stayed for the farming and the digger restortion! Hope your old man is on the mend soon. Also, the 100k must only be hours away!!!
Great content, keep at it.
Yer accent is tremendous! Love an irish accent haha. Fully ready fur this renovation 🤘
Exciting to see what you have done. Keep the videos coming!!!!!
Best wishes to your Dad wishing him a dpeedy recovery.
My Mum is 90 tomorrow, Dad was 90 last June.😊
Lovely to see the smile on your face when the lights worked, its infectious. Glad your Dad is happy, here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
This!!
Great to hear one of our own - nothing ever thrown out - it might come in handy again - great production with sound advice and a great attitude -
love the smile the lighting gave you mate, you're smile was as bright as them lights.
Very exciting to see the next steps towards this project. I found you because of this house but I’ve watched every week over the last year because of your humor & ingenuity around the farm.
Wish your Dad is back home with you soon. My Dad is 90 on Tuesday and he’s only a month after breaking his shoulder in a fall. My Dad worked hard his whole life and it’s tough seeing him suffer but it’s been great being the one to care for him
Adrian, you’re really a jack of all trades & your videos make me laugh. Can’t say that’s ever happened for me on a farming channel
Wishing you a warm & dry few weeks. You all need it ✌️💚
Hahaha i mix cement in the wheel barrow too
The washing machine broke down 😄
🙏🙏🙏 for ur Dad!
It’s good your dad is getting on so well in hospital. Hope he has a fast recovery. Drinking water promotes healing, my mother was told when her femur was broken.
Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful aerial view of the cottage and surrounding area, you've done a cracking job on the site, hope you're dad gets better soon ❤
Jasus Adran 😮. You're almost at 100k subscribers and your videos have close to 24.5 million views, no doubt from all around the world. That is absolutely fantastic. Fair play. Continued success & good health to you and yours. P.s. we have sunshine here in cork today, like 😊
This might sound a bit amateurish but I actually didn’t know the view count , i never checked in ages 🤷🏻♂️. It’s good fun making these videos and interacting with people. Thanks very much 👍
Thank you Adrian. Hope your father is better and home soon. Just know no matter how old you are your parents will still treat you like your are 3 or 4 years old. My mom is 75 and still treats me like i'm 4 and I'm 54. LOL the cottage will be great when you get the time to do what you want to do to it. God Bless your family and Farm.
Your countryside is beautiful! Praying for your dad 🙏
Wishing your Dad a speedy recovery
Nice to see the work started. Yes, light makes so much difference. How about a plug simply for recharging your batteries while you are there?
Great video lad and get well soon to your dad 2 legend of farming
Good work, love your abilities! The door frame concrete ends are to keep the timber doorframe off the ground, keeping them dry, and the spike holds the frame.
The spikes at the bottom of the reveals were to hold a door frame in place, at that POINT,, that’s why also there was concrete up a few inches on the bottom to keep the timber off the ground and from rotting. Older doors used be sunk into the ground and used always fail at that point. A lot of building work during the 50s through to the 90s was trial and error. Keep up the good work
That makes sense, never seen that before 👍
Adrain awesome up date. Wishing your father a speedy recovery 👍🏻🇨🇦☘️
It’s going to take a while Adrian but I know that you will get it done. Sure ya nearly have the house “rewired” already.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. . You are a man with a plan. Well done. I’m so sorry about your dad, although Im delighted for him that he has good company in the hospital. Hopefully he will ❤be able to get home soon. It’s funny Isent it, no matter how old we are, our parents will always treat us as if we are still children. Bless them all and look after each other. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your poor Dad, hope he is fit again very soon
what an amazing view from the cottage, who ever moves in will be in for a treat.
There’s a man from your neck of the woods, that comes over to Scotland and buys old UPVC doors from DCB recycling in coatbridge… then re sells them in Ireland
First off best wishes to you dad for a full recovery, great to see the work on the cottage starting, you can turn your hand to all kinds, also fair play to you Adrian and all the family on recent program on tv, raised by the village, great viewing. 👍👏🇮🇪
Thank you, it was a great experience and Sophia has done really well since. Hoping to have her back for a holiday very soon.
Great video Adrian wish your dad a speedy recovery
Be careful with the extension lead you made, pins in plug will be live from the generator. Should have put plug on house side
Hello Adrian, temporary lighting good job Just want to say you need to change the outside blue female socket you are going to supply the lights with to a 16 amp male inlet .The reason the plug you are going to connect to the socket you have will have exposed pins which will be live and someone disconnecting it with the gen on could get a shock or worse.
I'm really enjoying these cottage video's. You are doing a fantastic job of it.
Best wishes to your Dad, I hope he recovers well and returns home fit as a fiddle. It sounds like he might want an extended stop in hospital though!!!!!!!!
Hope to see your dad back again to enjoy some good weather on the farm this growing season.
Full and speedy recovery to him.
