This cottage to me, is worth saving, if people tear down all the older homes, there will be no examples left to look back on. Sometimes the older homes are built a hell of alot better than new homes! I love it!
Well, even this early on I think many of the naysayers will be rethinking their initial tear it down thoughts.what a lovely thing to be able to to look at this ❤wee dwelling and see it as a considerable addition to the good things you’ve done on this earth
The cottage has its own historic beauty and looks far better than a modern dwelling made from flim flam. The cottage will look stunning when it is restored and I am looking forward to watching its transformation Gerry has done a marvellous job with all the grading work too - he works like a trojan. Hope you have a great week.
Gerry is an artist with the digger. One wrong swing and that poor, old cottage wouldn't last long. With Adrian calling him a great man to work, that's seriously high praise indeed. Really looking forward to seeing this project through with ye. Awesome family & community to be fair.
Warmest Greetings from New Zealand 👋 What an AWESOME project 🙌 Can’t wait to see the transformation 😁 Beautiful spot and surroundings 👍 I absolutely agree about working with the character of the building instead of new build . Jerry did fantastic job 👏 with the Digger and levelling etc. The machinery they have these days are amazing 😊. Where I live, we got severely hit by a cyclone 🌀 700 homes here were very damaged, a lot unliveable. We had a beautiful caravan park here, all destroyed. But it’s been really fascinating to watch all the machinery removing all the silt, digging all the trenches for water and power etc. The workers have been outstanding. Still loads of work to do . Should be open to the public by December hopefully ☺️. But thank you for sharing with us viewers this exciting project 🏡🌷🤸♀️🛠️🌻 NZ
The land looks great!! I loathe when people say “Tear it down” while in the same breath they want to save the earth. The building is very salvageable, many good parts that are good and can be still used. I love to watch you work to save the old girl, it’s a part of Irish history & saving history is always a good thing.
My dad has always said the Hitachi machines are the best machine on the market, he was a machine driver for over 40 years. The house is going to look lovely when done.
I agree, on last week's video there were several people in the comments saying just knock it down and rebuild. That seems like the lazy option to me and all the charm and character would be lost forever. As Adrian said, it's a renovation, not a new build. it looks much better already with the landscaping they've done.
Is funny, I had two words in my mind for those who said to just knock it down, 'easy' and 'lazy' - and here are just two comments saying exactly that!! Of course it's entirely more difficult and labour intensive to renovate it, but (imo!) it's the right thing to do. You cannot replace this history once it's demolished. Love your approach Adrian and Sinead, and Gerry's work is outstanding!!
Enjoyed the video, you’re doing it right keeping as much of the old as practicable it will add to the overall charm and character. Looking forward to the next video
That’s what I was thinking too, a new build would probably be easier but all it’s history and the people that past though it over the decades would be gone
Wow! What a difference! He’s an artist with that machine. This little house is going to be beautiful. I can’t wait to see it being loved back to life.🤗❤️🐝
One of the things I wait for mostly on youtube is a new video from IFarm WeFarm. As a lad from Dublin who moved down the country seeing all tractors etc going about, an insight is a fantastic thing to witness. Thank you for the great content. Keep them coming!
I’m so glad you are restoring this lovely cottage and not destroying it. There are new houses going up all over the place, it’s so good to actually see someone appreciate what has been built many years ago. I’ve subscribed with notifications as I am so eager to see the house and plot transformed. You guys are doing a cracking job, Gerry is a proper craftsman with that digger! Looking forward to the next episode 😊
We applaud your family's recognition of the very hard work it would have taken to build this home. Adrian you and Gerry have done some beautiful earthworks around the house, follow your hearts it will look awesome 👌
Don’t mind ppl saying tear it down. They don’t get it and never will. You are saving the history and charm and all the money can’t buy either. Thank you for restoring. I’ve restored a house and the satisfaction is tremendous! Enjoy the process as we enjoy watching. Best from a first generation Irisher in Fl
It looks great! Keep the old, too often the old things are binned and new is BLAH and boring. This wee house has such character and history!! The Mrs. was right.
Hello Adrian. Found you on you tube by accident. Very interested in your work on restoring the old cottage. We are living in a small town in Co Cork, Im originally from Limerick city and my partner is from Newmarket, Co cork. He knows a lot about farming as many of his friends are farmers but I know very little. I know much more today having spend hours last night watching your videos. What I found intriguing and kept me pressing next on your channel was not the farming per se but you and your work ethic. Your attention to detail; your neatness, structure; planning, organisation skills is admirable. I’m very much interested in learning more about the restoration of the cottage and look forward to your future videos on this project We have an offer in on an old Irish cottage ourselves, keep your fingers crossed for us; like you; we intend to restore it even though most would advise us to knock it and start again
If your happy, we are happy. There is excitement in your voice about the project, that is not farm related. something different from your normal farming routine. In the end it will be great & a asset.
I’m so glad to see the old home being restored. Would love to see the old stone posts restored and replaced as they would add so much to the historical feel of the site.
Me too, never made it to Ireland just feasted on your history through books, movies and documentaries. Australia has had a lot of Irish settlers through the years. Keep up your project and you’re doing a wonderful job 👏👏
My favorite Irishman! You make my Sundays, sure wish you had more videos. But I know we'll that this is the busy time of the year for a farmer. Did you do a video introducing yourself and where you live? If you did could you leave the name of it I will find it. What part of Ireland do you live? Just wanna learn where in the world you are and how far north or whatever direction you are. Anyway, thank you for making my Sundays much brighter. Happy father's day. Pray for rain we are getting plenty short of rain in the central United States.
No to tearing it down. It will always have a bit of history to it. Am absolutely loving watching this as it evolves. I hope you turn it into a holiday let. I want to come and enjoy that fantastic spot you live in. Your very lucky. And thanks for your videos
The cottage has incredible charm & it would be a travesty to knock it down for a new build. These little old buildings are full of history & stories. It will be beautiful once again.
One brilliant digger driver an everybody can see the true protenshall of the property now will go forward from strength to strength well done good work so far. The only way is up for the old cottage now
Think because it's mostly the back that needs the serious work. It won't be seen from the road. Think it'll be a lovely wee cottage when it's finished. Even changing the gradients of the mounds and what not have made a massive difference. Looks more open. Views will be breathtaking.
I'm so glad you're going to renovate the cottage. When it's done it will look lovely. Gerry is a man who is "one with his machine." It's an extension of his hands on a grand scale.
The transformation of the grounds looks great. The back wall can finally breath. Great to get it cleared at the back and keep any water away from the building. Did a similar job in Co Limerick. Old cottage, tin roofed 70 years prior and still old thatch in the roof. Water was it's biggest trouble. Land drains all around and ditch dug out as silted up/overgrown.
Definitely renovate (especially if you can get a grant!). I was amazed a Gerry's skill with the excavator - at times dig out great chunks and at others using a really gentle touch to get the stones level and packed down.
Wow an amazing amount of work and very high quality work, you can tell the digger driver has a natural ability to 'feel' the land as he works it. This is getting very exciting, you must be over the moon with it. Well done everyone.
Jerry is amazing! It’s like he has a third arm! Love that you are restoring and not taking it down. Love watching the process. Can’t wait until the Boss finishes with her designing! Lol❤️ Stay safe!
Yer man did a FANTASTIC job on that bank! Holy macaroni, that is jaw-dropping!! Just found your channel and you've gained an avid follower. Thanks for sharing.
Adrian you've mad a massive difference to that house already, looking forward to seeing the renovation progress. Credit to Gerry, he's some operator 👌👍👍
I love what you are doing. My favorite movie of all time, and I've watched it many times is "The Quiet Man". As much as I love the character actors in it, I love the Irish cottages the most and the scenery. So I hope you are able to capture some of that style in your redoing of the cottage.
I would like to wish you a Happy Father's day and to your Da also, hoping he is well. The cottage looks significantly better already, looking forward to seeing it develop.
Hell-o from Florida. IFarm WeFarm just popped into my UA-cam feed. I am delighted to meet your channel and look forward to seeing how your homestead evolves. Best of luck.
What a huge and ambitious project! Now I know why we waited so long for an update on the cottage. The property around the cottage is looking great! Thanks so much for sharing and giving us an update on your little cottage.
Wow, what a difference! It's always amazing to watch someone who has so much skill in heavy machinery work a site. I'm looking forward to the next round of work - I hope you don't get much erosion on the slopes before the grass can grow in a bit to stabilize them.
Yes you do like mark Bowles does off barn wood builders he gives new life back to log cabins and that what you are doing with your cottage so it can live on so proud of you for doing that love your videos
Absolutely amazing, well done to all to save this building. It has been transformed and good onyer for giving this lovely old cottage with so many memories another life.
Oh my goodness Adrian I could watch this work all day long and forever. Gerry is some boy on a digger. It's going to be awesome. We're in an old cottage, there was cow's in it at a time, it belonged to my father on an outlying farm. We made a lovely home of it. That's 42 yrs ago...we're so proud of our work through blood sweat and tears. Looking fwd to the rest of ur videos. Sineads idea was correct. 😅😅
I don’t think u you knock the house. I’ve just completed the restoration of and old lodge and the amount of joy I get from seeing all the hard work knowing I restored some history. It was in as bad a state as your house and I’m delighted we kept it. You will be surprised how much money it will take. Best of luck. KJ.
Loving your videos so far and will follow you all the way through your cottage renovation and now it’s got me watching your ifarm wefarm as well. Watching from Perth, Western Australia by the way. We love Ireland and have been there twice all over the place and it’s my favourite country apart form Australia of course. Love your Irish accent Adrian, I could listen to you all day.
I wonder if expanding the structure might not be the best idea. It looks like a very simple small structure with a central chimney that has then had a multitude of additions built onto it over the decades. It might be nice to tear it back to the original structure. It would be very small. You could then build a separate small washroom building, and rent the cottage out as an authentic very old fashioned country getaway cabin. Think bunk beds rather than queen size beds. I think those blocky additions will make it difficult to create something clean and pleasing to the eye. But this project is exciting no matter what course you take and I look forward to further developments.
Great video Adrian aye your right it’s easy to pull it all down I think you made the right decision leaving a lot of it up nice work and Gerry is very handy on the excavator 👌
Loving your channel. What a great job of grading and creating more level areas around the building. Can tell you are having fun! Watching from North Carolina USA.
Have you considered installing swales to slow water, allow it time to percolate, and redirect any overflow? All those slopes could be put to use storing water and save your foundation and pavement.
Totally agree with you (and Sinaed) Adrian, far better to restore what you can and a new build would indeed be boring. It's going to make a wonderful Airbnb, really enjoying the 'ballet' of the earth mover too!!. Cheers 💜
One thing for sure you have a bloody good man on the digger which in today's age is Very hard to find he will get them levels you an he want spot on plus when all the building work done it will without a doubt be good looking back at the work done to bring the cottage into the future from what it was
Can’t imagine how much time it would have taken to get that work done 100 years ago
It’s nice to restore rather than replace
This cottage to me, is worth saving, if people tear down all the older homes, there will be no examples left to look back on. Sometimes the older homes are built a hell of alot better than new homes! I love it!

There’s something about a restoration that is so satisfying
The excavator driver did absolutely cracking work. Hopefully the builders will do the same with the house. Best of wishes for the renovation project.

Were these old cottages abandoned with grant money to build new homes back in the day ?
Thank you so much for preserving the history of this old building...in Canada you don't see them saved but torn down...the loss of history...
I agree "new builds are boring"- and RESTORATION is exciting: preservation of history is vital, as a foundation...
My dad has always said the Hitachi machines are the best machine on the market, he was a machine driver for over 40 years.
The house is going to look lovely when done.
Gerry is some man for one man I’ll tell you that….great to see a man literally using the machine like an extension of his body👌🏻
The house even though is rather dilapidated does have a charm about it and is certainly well worth saving and renovating, keep up the good work.
I agree it would be so easy to just knock it down and erase that
I agree, on last week's video there were several people in the comments saying just knock it down and rebuild. I am so happy to hear your plans for this lovely old family home.🇨🇦🇨🇮❤
One of the things I wait for mostly on youtube is a new video from IFarm WeFarm. As a lad from Dublin who moved down the country seeing all tractors etc going about, an insight is a fantastic thing to witness. Thank you for the great content. Keep them coming!
Your welcome buddy, glad you enjoy them. Have a few Dublin lads married in beside us here, there b’s good football banter between us 😂
I’m so glad you are restoring this lovely cottage and not destroying it. The yard work has already transformed this lovely little cottage

Great job. Gerry is very skilled at his work. Congratulations at going over 85 thousand subscribers.

Great progress with a great team. Agree keep original building as a nod to the past. And surely you know the wife is always right!
Your old cottage lovingly restored will have so much more charn than a new build. They have character and history that are a poart of their charm.
I’m so glad to see the old home being restored. Would love to see the old stone posts restored and replaced as they would add so much to the historical feel of the site.

I agree not to do a tear down, restore it! The yard is looking great. Have fun while doing this.
that digger man has talent looks class. keep it going great project just shows that irish farmers are the best at looking after our countryside

Please rebuild as much you can. Just love you progress
I'm so glad you highlighted Jerry, because I was indeed admiring Jerry's work & thinking, "Well done, Jerry."
Good to see that you're going forward with your cottage work. Really nice to see that you now have over 85k subscribers!
Thank you

Just started watching the cottage videos from the start - proper good work, Gerry is superb and your some fella yourself
I'm so glad you're going to renovate the cottage.
When it's done it will look lovely.
Gerry is a man who is "one with his machine." It's an extension of his hands on a grand scale.

Definitely renovate (especially if you can get a grant!).

Comment for the algorithm to help the channel.
I see a beautiful cottage that needs TLC, whoa you tear it down chumps! Can’t wait to see how it progresses
So much done! Lovely look of the place. Your wife has vision.
Wow an amazing amount of work and very high quality work, you can tell the digger driver has a natural ability to 'feel' the land as he works it. This is getting very exciting, you must be over the moon with it. Well done everyone.
Yes! I wouldn't be watching if this was a tear down and new build! Great work!
Well done , great job.
Please rebuild the stone pier in memory of those who built it and the cottage originally.
Adrian you've mad a massive difference to that house already, looking forward to seeing the renovation progress. Credit to Gerry, he's some operator 👌👍👍
A smooth operator ?
good work !! could watch your man in his digger for hours ! what a skill!
I love what you are doing. My favorite movie of all time, and I've watched it many times is "The Quiet Man". As much as I love the character actors in it, I love the Irish cottages the most and the scenery. So I hope you are able to capture some of that style in your redoing of the cottage.
Your doing a beautiful job with the renovation and surrounding area. I can’t wait to see it complete with a flower meadow.
Greetings from New Zealand: all the best in the challenges ahead. My wife and will be following you on a regular basis.😊
I would like to wish you a Happy Father's day and to your Da also, hoping he is well. The cottage looks significantly better already, looking forward to seeing it develop.
Looking better already. Taking shape.
Hell-o from Florida. IFarm WeFarm just popped into my UA-cam feed. I am delighted to meet your channel and look forward to seeing how your homestead evolves. Best of luck.
that work that you are doing to that old building is starting to look really grand, it's going to look super when its done
What a huge and ambitious project! Now I know why we waited so long for an update on the cottage. The property around the cottage is looking great! Thanks so much for sharing and giving us an update on your little cottage.

Gerry is a master of the steam shovel .
Lovely watching you guys restoring that old house, see you next time 😊
Happy Father's Day Adrian!🏆
The digger operator is a bloody artist
Really does look so much better already Adrian. Very good drone shots seeing the progress is exciting. Thank you for sharing.🐄
Hitachi operators love a drop of tea Adrian
Your mate, Jerry, did a fantastic job! Looks great!!!
I like how they are not just putting in filler they are planning for regrowth.
Thrilled to see progress already . A joy to see this being preserved .
Yes you do like mark Bowles does off barn wood builders he gives new life back to log cabins and that what you are doing with your cottage so it can live on so proud of you for doing that love your videos
Wow!!! Beautiful! Driving the digger looks so fun BUT one wrong move ...oops. 😆 everything is looking awesome!!!
So happy to see that you plan to restore that beautiful old building which has years and years of history.
Like you said... Keep the old house and extend you're doing a great job. Keep the old Ireland alive. I enjoy preserving history.
KJ.
WOW! Great work and I can't wait to see the progress on the cottage!
Wow! Looks so wonderful now. You are a budy, hard-working fella and your farm is beautiful... so a joy too to see the beauty of Ireland..
Gerry’s an artist!
I love the way that you are keeping everything oragil
The house has charm as it is, I would stay in the finished product. Ummm Sinead is right lol The digger driver is awesome worth his weight in gold.
Have you considered installing swales to slow water, allow it time to percolate, and redirect any overflow? All those slopes could be put to use storing water and save your foundation and pavement.
Amazing transformation Adrian. You look as pleased as you're obviously feeling! 👍👌
Totally agree with you (and Sinaed) Adrian, far better to restore what you can and a new build would indeed be boring.
It's going to make a wonderful Airbnb, really enjoying the 'ballet' of the earth mover too!!. Cheers 💜
A great bit of landscaping work there Adrian. It’s looking good already.
Fair play to the digger man, he did a great job.
Looking fantastic ,real farm is developing.
One thing for sure you have a bloody good man on the digger which in today's age is Very hard to find he will get them levels you an he want spot on plus when all the building work done it will without a doubt be good looking back at the work done to bring the cottage into the future from what it was
Can't beat a paddy on a 360 Adrian top vid top man you helped me more than you know getting knee done in 3 weeks and 95 % keep the good job coming
Jerry's some man beautiful job done. Keep up the good work there Adrian 👍👍👀
Brilliant 😊 this will quickly get ye to 100k followers! I enjoyed every minute and look forward to the next video 🙏💙.. thank you!
