Part 6. DIY Internal Combustion Engine Made from Old Compressor - Carburetor from Pencil & Heatsink?

- FNALLY!!! Here is part 6!!! I hope you guys like the carburetor! I thought about a lot of different carburetor designs before I landed on this one. All in all, I am pretty satisfied with it. The needle valve doesn't seem to work very well so I may need to find an alternative. I am so happy with how well I can get the engine to idle and run. I still haven't gotten it to run for a super long time because the spark plug fouls(I might have just a little to much oil in the gasoline :D ). Now on to part 7 which will be proper ignition! See you guys there! Also for those of you who watched every second of the video(you guys are awesome) and saw the clips of the glass carburetor, that is a video coming soon. I will probably be posting it after I finish this series. I hate breaking series up. We'll see how long it takes me to get part 7 out...
Why? Because it will be a challenge and I like a little challenge. The main constraints that I have put on this project are limited power tools. I will only use a battery drill, hacksaw, and other common hand tools and materials. Working with constraints are what real world engineers basically do and I find it challenging and fun working in this way. There are three reason for trying to do this with minimal tools: 1. so anyone, even someone in a third world country can replicate. 2. to show what you might be able to do in an apocalyptic situation. 3. creative thinking. I hope you enjoy. Please leave ideas and suggestions in the comments below!

You are a rare breed young man. The ability to render such a build with so few resources is a sign of profound intelligence.
I'm 65 years old and so very glad American ingenuity still holds on from generation to generation. Good Job SON!
On the one hand I can't wait until you get a lathe and a mill, and a drill press, on the other hand I will miss seeing you make due with screws, clamps and paper clips.
Keep it up Makerj101, you're fantastic.
if you embed some magnets in the rotor and put the stator coils back on you got yourself a tiny generator
Yes! And then attach the generator to a fridge :)
Attach it to a fridge. Lmfao.
A young man with brains, perseverance and a good sense of humour - he'll go far.
2019 and part 7 still didn't come out , but whatever , this is the most amazing project with minimal equipment i have ever seen . Maybe in the close future i will build something like this although i am an "electric" guy : )
2020 now
2021 now. Wtf, makerj
2022 now :D
not even 2022... a simple crank position sensor on the flywheel will simple do the job and make a self sustaining ignition, let's keep waiting...
2022 now. Still nothing. Makes me wonder if hes ok...
Dude there is absolutely no shame in helping take care of grandma. The interwebs can wait.
I too made an engine from an air compressor, but I'm 70 years old and have access to many tools and shop machines. Your air compressor engine is very impressive! I love the way you work. Your can-do attitude is probably your greatest asset. Keep up the good work!
Works much better than I expected, EXCELLENT ! And Grandma takes priority, rightly done.
Brilliant. It's one thing to watch someone machine parts on a milling machine or lathe etc, following someone else's instructions, but to cobble together a working internal combustion engine, out of scrap bin parts, and common hand tools is amazing.
Fair play dude, that is bloody brilliant!!! Enjoying every second of this build!!
Be proud. Be very proud. Thanks for taking me to this journey. Also best wishes for your grandma.
HO MY GOD ANOTHER VIDEO!!! THIS IS A GIFT FROM THE GODS
ther is one god :D
I have high hopes for your future. The world needs more kids like you, great job
now make an expansion champer exhaust for it ;)
Your channel is awesome. Also the internal combustion engine from old compressor is mind blowing.
Dude, I love to see young people who can actually think and make stuff on their own!
Yea me as a 15 year old would love to see more young people do it... I think I am the only young guy in my entire city who is interested in engineering...
We are the Makers!
@@lengaming1651 me too :(
I'll be honest, when you started this series I had doubts about your engine running but damn did you do it! Very nice job. I'm impressed!
Try pressurizing the fuel tank with some of the exhaust pressure. It will save you having to lift up the tank and with a little tweaking the pressure should be relative to the rpm of the engine and keep a nice steady flow of fuel throughout the whole rpm range.
Man i was desperately waiting for your video.
Same here
same
Tumpa Talapatra that was awesome, thank you for the glass carborator demo... really cool
Yogi Ramadin it was not me it was him bro.
sorry i'm not sure why my phone auto tagged you. I must have clicked in the wrong place!
your excitement is contagious, you have the same excitement that you had when you got your first internal combustion engine working. thumbs up and great work.
Man you're awesome, I mean making an ic engine without a machine shop from a fridge compressor is a great idea coz I wanted to make an engine but I can't have my own machine shop and there are none nearby , and the thanks a lot for giving such a detailed explanation step by step .... And besides, a lot of other guys on UA-cam just show off their homemade engines but don't actually tell u how to make one. This whole series was Super cool , plz continue to do more with different easy ideas...
Part 7 should be taking the fridge it came from and making a gokart out of it with the engine you made.
Pretty savvy, great work, very entertaining.
My whole family died in a car crash and burned, my grandmother has adopted me. Your videos help me through this tough time.
WOW, it RUNS, I love your vids !!
You are an inspiration for all, young and old.
your videos restore my faith in todays kids. you are an brilliant. As a parent, your parents must be so proud. great video
amazing work man. your build quality is kind of insane given the tools and experience involved.
Great Vijeyo Buddy. Cant wait for the next part!
Very good job, glad I got to finally see the engine work and work well. And hope grandma feels better.
Wow! Can't wait for another videos in this series. I would not tell this is possible.
Just watched all these from beginning to now. Amazing! Good job man.
I love shed mechanics, this is brilliant !
I'm new to your channel and this has been a really fun series to watch. I admire your ingenuity and enthusiasm.
This is amazing! Absolutely cannot wait to see the next video!
Glass carb idea == awesome
Thanks for sharing!
thank you thank you thank you i love your videos ive been trying so hard to learn stuff about combustion engines and ive learned three things just watching your video thank you!!
That really was awesome! Your throttle works great. I was surprised that the fuel was able to travel through all that tubing!
Your enthusiasm is contagious. Kudos dude.
Nicely done man! Really enjoyed this build. A few comments... I would definitely add a tiny idle airway, also some kind of silencing (or maybe some ear defenders! lol), for the ignition a hall effect sensor on an adjustable mount would probably be most reliable when you get it dialled in.
U should have your show on TV like bill nine the since guy ...... everything was Extremely well explained.... Great job
I like the glass carburetor! Nice way of demonstrating the concept. And nice work on the actual motor, too!
Great job. Great build. Great for inspiring young people. And a simple build with simple tools. Loved the crescent wrench multi tool, lol.
Good work! Glad to hear all is well with your g'ma.
Very good video glad to see ya posting again!
I love it so much it makes me smile when I see it I'm so happy that you did it !
Amazing congratulations, your videos were the best I've seen and with the best results
Thank you! :) I tired my best!
Wow! What a great explanation of how a carburetor works! I love your videos; they are awesome! Your work bench looks like mine! Thanks!
Good job! Love your excitement!
thank you for your simplistic approach! i hope you will gonna post the ignition stuff soon. long live along with your grandma!
What a marvellous thing to build and from scrap parts no less, properly in awe of u dude, that's some ten ton genius work right there. Your face at the end of our video was exactly what my face would look like if I ever managed to make something that cool, I wouldn't be able to stop looking at it either ^^ love the work man keep it up, StAsh.
this is amazing, most people could do this in their garrage, love how well it works
Literally just thinking about this series
Awesome as always
I was waiting so long for this and it was so worth the wait.
So awesome, hope you are still making cool stuff!
I enjoy watching your ingenuity... well played young man.
Thank you so much for your videos. My six year old is a super fan!
Make an expansion exhaust and watch it run 100% better. Two strokes love them. You are such a bad ass that I know that you can do it.
Just sticks a Yamaha banshee drag racing pipe on it
This is awesome, man. Cheers!
that was awesome. looking forward for more of your projects. when the engine run dude i jumped off my seat
I just watched your Stirling engine Lego drinks stirrer. And now I'm here. Quite a progression! Great video, I'm inclined to watch the others and see how you got here. Nice to see something created without all the expensive tools.
Good to see you still posting!btw nice video
Anyone else watching this in 2020? haha This kid is a genius!
Finally! I have been waiting for the next part!
Very nice. Keep up the awesone work
Amazing! Execellent job man , I really like your videos
I just watched this entire build. You have a very bright future. Nice job with this build. If you had a lathe and a mill you would be dangerous!
Great job! Very cool!
With all this smoke indoors no wonder you are always so hyped. GJ mate
just amazing man, i love mechanics, subscribed!!
Very nice work!
Rip part 7 my dude i was actually quite excited to see you set up timing rather than the constant arc, and even a little exhaust and talk about whether it needed a little backpressure etc
Very well done!
Świetna robota :) życzę dalszych sukcesów
Society falls apart people like you, and me (ase mechanic/carpenter) will rule the world. Cool project man
Now you can turn that flywheel/rotor into a starter generator :) Great Job!
If you had a little 2" drill press vice you could make more accurate holes and cuts with out having your work piece spin out. PIck one up at a flea market or yard sale. Alternatively Harbor Freight or Lowes has a "drill press vice" made to set on the table and hold the work piece. Keep up the great work. Enjoying this one.
Nice Job!
Wow, amazing man, good job!
You have a very good understanding of things for your age. Good job and definitely keep exporamenting.
Thank you by your video and your time!
wonderful , god bless you ,you are skillful ,don,t stop your adventure, your future is very bright.
Well im super glad youre back makerj
The best series of videos of all you tube. I would love you to measure Torque and make power comparisons. Greetings from Argentina, ps Greetings to grandma
I'm still amazed that it can run that well without proper ignition timing.
the magic of 2strokes
I was wondering about ignition as well? Is he just igniting the sparkplug every milisecond or sth or how does the spark plug know when to ignite in his setup? Let's see if I still get an answer 6 years later lol
@onclimber5067 the plug is firing in a constant arc in this setup. I'm sure it would work better with proper spark timing, but this did technically work!
@@Krankie_Vohh okay I see so the plug is permanently powered. In theory this would cause the gas to ignite too early right? But I guess for this dimensions and power the early explosion was still enough for the motor to run
Thanks for your answer ✌️
12th June 2020 and part 7 didn't come out yet :(
January 19, 2021. Still nothing
I was waiting for this😉👍
Nice Work!!
The kind of channels worth subscribing too
I can not believe it really works dude, O my good its works
YAY! I cant wait to watch the next vid!!!
good i enjoy every second of it
Good job and well done
Can't wait to see ya make power with it
i got anger when you take all this time to upload but now looks like u come from heavens
amazing little man god bless you
:p sorry for my bad ENG
Well done !
Thank you for posting part 6 finally I've been waiting so long😂
I do ac work and never thought of doing that. Ha I know what I’m doing now Great work .
Spencer Pearson be fun to take a old K body Copeland and make something like this.
nice to see other people preparing to create motor vehicles during the apocalypse as well
that is so freakin awesome man, good job
Like You said: Just AWESOMEEE!!!!!
Great Job👍
