Whether it is the courage to fight through any pain and let it sharpen you, or the courage to face any bully, or most importantly the courage to act, it is all found in Batman. Striving to be more like Batman gives me the thought I may be able to face any opposition with courage as he does some of the scariest villains ever, like Bane or Scarecrow. It also gives me the hope that I will be able to endure any pain in life and use it to better me as he did the loss of his parents.

The Dark Knight trilogy was my introduction to Batman. He became my favorite superhero due to being able to relate to the character and understand what he's going through. What I find so relatable about Batman is that he's simply a human who has gone through a great tragedy (seeing the death of his parents as a child). That would severely wound anyone and seeing how Bruce Wayne took that pain and anger and transformed him (with the help of his resources) to Batman to fight evil. Gotham sometimes seems like it's so corrupt that it's beyond saving but Batman understands that there are still some good people there and thus worth fighting for. Batman having to face his fears and weaknesses and deal with his emotions and overcome them all is a very relatable person in my book. He's not perfect. He's a flawed man trying to do his best in a broken world. That's why I find him relatable.
Why batmans the most compelling in a nutshell: he does the impossible, and his reasons for doing these and how he does them are so complex that if you took one factor out you simply couldn't understand it. And this is all while being human, and because we feel closer to him we feel special. To me in the real world batman is the most compelling hero of all time. But I'm not going to be biased, and even batman has said it, in the comic book world superman is the greatest he is not the story of man fighting for his ideals he is a god fighting for good no matter what. He would rather die than damage the sidewalk. If Clark wanted to, he could use his superspeed and squish me into the cement. But I know how he thinks. Even more than the Kryptonite, he's got one big weakness. Deep down, Clark's essentially a good person... and deep down, I'm not." -Batman Okay, that was more if a coconut.
LOVE BATMAN!!! He is my FAvORITE Super Hero! He uses his detective skills, martial arts skills and determination to WIN!!! He never gives up even when people think he's defeated, he is several steps ahead - it's 3D Chess for him ... not checkers!
Umm only a couple of corrections the only reason he can do those things because of his intellect otherwise he is a brute who won’t think and I know that you said that he is several steps ahead and I love your love for him just think what would he do if he didn’t get his parents killed? Well being a drunken billionaire of course that’s what makes him so great he beats every single mentally challenging obstacle that most people that would give up on here is a few examples of what he has learn from reading comics: knot tying, most of the martial arts humanly possible, all the subjects in school he can learn, different languages, acting, and etc and I like him because it is possible to become him in real life need a good hiding spot for the costume... maybe not the bat mobile this is what you have to learn then parkour and then escape the police every time maybe do it once a week otherwise insomnia. Then lab strategy on how to take you villains down to know that it will be a checkmate every time. Not wanting to start a war in the comments I like what you are
Well, this you compared very well indeed; Batman constantly being in a game of 3D Chess where pieces don't just get knocked off the board, they actually live or die. This was a superb comparison
@Samuel Button then you don't belong here bro! 😅 At least Batman wasn't bitten by some fantasy bat unlike spiderman being bitten by some fantasy spider, giving spiderman all his abilities & powers.
I agree Batman is the best. He's my favorite. But the funny thing is, when I argue with my buddy, who is a Superman fan, I give a bunch of reasons why Batman is the best. His story, his villains, his allies, the relationships between all of them, the symbolism, overcoming tragedies. And when you ask him why Superman is the best, he'll simply say "Because he's the BEST." And I hate to admit that we're both right. Lol!
That's what I hear from a lot of people , "SuPERMaN Is BoRinG" or "He'S a gArY STu" But Yet, from the comics I read, he can be one of the most human superheroes out there A man who take the time would help a kid fix his bike Talk to a suicidal person And lead one of the greatest superhero teams in fiction Clark has never been perfect, he has flaws, He's had trouble with his childhood and finding his identity, but he's never let that detour his optimism or sense of right and wrong Superman isn't great because he could punch you into space He would Always look for the good in people, take the time out to be connect with people, even when it seems foolish But what makes the dark Knight in the man of steel's relationship so interesting is there brotherhood They've always had their differences but they never let it divide between their friendship And honestly one can't as interesting without the other Some of the best comics are with BOTH of them The problem is Superman isn't as well represented in mainstream media outside of comics But I recommend Superman the animated series, Superman vs. The elite, and Justice League unlimited Outside of comics, those are the best alterations of Superman ( I also just recommend his comics 😊)
Thats the one flaw in batman he split into two I personally think bruce died with his parents but batman was born they day bruce died its been a conflict he always faced
I always like this interpretation of him the best. Yeah, he's not the playboy billionaire he sometimes puts on for the media, but it doesn't seem right to characterize his broody masked persona that breaks bones as his "true face'" either. It's a mask meant to scare criminals, and that's just not all there is to him. Only people like Alfred, Dick, and Clark have seen him as he really is.
Batman would win against Bane by using his intelligence by cutting the tubes that he has on his back, but that would be very challenging for Batman. Whereas... If Superman were to fight bane, he would just punch him... Once.
Wow, what a great hero. Let's just make one that blinks once and kills everyone in sight. Wow! He is better than both Superman and Batman! Get the fuck out of here
What about two face and clayface symbolising his double life and dull identity. As well as Hugo Strange challenging the point of batman as well, penguin showing what Bruce Wayne could’ve become, Catwoman showing someone similar to him on a different path and Mr freeze challenging his conscience. Edit and the court of owls challenging his entitlement to his city.
The reason Batman will always excel over every hero ever invented is his endurance. In a team of Gods, Aliens, Speedsters and Atlantians, Batman is a mere mortal and keeps up with them and sometimes excels. Stronger than the average man and smarter than most too, Batman is adaptable and constantly moving forward. No matter how many gadgets you take away, or bones you break; Batman’s true superpower is his ability to endure anything you through at him.
Well, because more people know what Batman is than Superman. In popular culture, people aready seen the essence of Batman trough Nolan's vision. But no one has yet did Superman justice on the big screen!
@@allflying3 there haven't been any good modern adaptations but nearly everyone has seen the original Superman movie (1978) which is a great telling of superman and his character. batman has played such a central role in my childhood and formative years and I thought I could defend him all day long against the naysayers, but this was something I hadn't considered. This was a fantastic video!
One reason I find Batman to be the most interest hero, is that he fights those that other superhero protects, the people. Batman is in constant battle with people, with himself and with the world. Whereas others like Superman are fighting godly-beings with otherworldly abilities, in order to protect Earth. Batman is an aspect of the world, of the people. He isn’t just a hero or a symbol, he’s an aspect of everyone. That’s why he’s my favourite hero!
He’s the hero Gotham deserves. But not the one it needs right now, “So we’ll hunt him” Because he’s not a hero, he’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector...A Dark Knight.
I always feel that the best batman stories are the one's where it's just him in Gotham. When they threw him into the JL so early, it fucked everything.
I do disagree with your point at 1:25 or so. I'd say Clark Kent is truly Superman's mask, and superman is the real him. Batman isn't the only hero whose secret identity isn't his true self.
Well I'm not sure. Superman grew up as Clark Kent. He only became superman when he was like 20 or something. I would argue Clark Kent is his true face and Superman is the mask.
Ogreowl Animations I'd like to generalize your point to ALL superheroes. When a superhero dons a costume and (usually) a mask, he is doing it because he feels that he cannot champion or defend the values he holds dear using his current regular-life identity, like Bruce Wayne or Peter Parker. They feel the need to crystallize their values into a symbol that inspires the imagination and uplifts the people's hearts; a superhero, in this context, simply becomes the amalgamation of all the values that could not be expressed in a mere mortal's form; it is the person at their purest, devoid of pretence. Their regular life is spent pretending not to be this figure of power.
He was born as kal-el not as superman nor as clark kent so he is using a superman mask to hide his identity whether it is kal-el or his fake self clark kent
Possibly. But more likely, they're due to the various times the words, "nowhere else do you see anything this iconic," when most Marvel fans can think of at least 3 other heroes that routinely have the same things going for them. :)
I've always liked Batman the most because he seems the most grounded in reality (as much as you can be in a superhero universe). The villains I know are normal people or people changed due to science/accidents, not just supernatural/magic characters. It feels more plausible. And watching how he handles different bad guys is really interesting. I also grew up with The Animated Series, so there's an aspect of nostalgia too.
What makes Batman the greatest? He has the skills and intelligence to kill or hurt someone very badly. But he's doesn't because he knows his power. And powder comes when forgiveness starts. Batman just stops the crime and evil things. Because he's BATMAN !!!
That's spiderman. Batman wants vengeance for his parents death, he channels his anger and make sure no boy will ever have to sit in the alley way alone again.
I think the best thing Batman teaches us. Is to turn our darkest fears into our most powerful strength. Be the guardian of your own Gothom city. Have a will and determination that’s unbendable.
I did a summer school assignment about "the heroes journey" and had to connect each piece of a superhero movie to the assignment. I did the dark knight rises and got the only perfect score. I love essays
@Marcel X10 Batman centers his moral code on making the world less shitty so people don't end up like him. Spidey centers his on doing the right thing because he has the power and therefore the responsibility I think both of those are relatable, but Spider-Man is more so imo because he's an average guy and struggles with bills, dating, and just living his life. Batman is severely f'ed up in the head and would rather Bruce Wayne die so he can be Batman which isn't relatable to me thank God.
No superman is. People forget that we litterally call superheroes superheroes because of superman. Standard superheroez powerz like flight speed stregth exist because of superman. The word superhero would litterally not exist if superman didnt exist. That alone makes superman the most important superhero of all time.
I like that you used Brandon Sanderson as an example here... the Mistborn and Steelheart series are far too underrated, and I'm glad to see my personal favorite author be given the respect he deserves. Great video my friend.
What I like about Batman is that is the only human in the justice league, he has no superpowers, he will just count on his intellectual and physical skills, of course he also has resources hahaha but still is interesting to see all the mind and physical training involving his persona.
Batman is actually putting himself selflessly and bravely at serious risk all the time to save others and do good. Superman is basically immortal minus kryptonite. If the possibility of serious injury or death or loss isn't even there, how is it brave? Batman gives everything, literally putting his life on the line consistently and sacrificing his mental health, physical health, and personal life, to save the city of Gotham and it's people. That's literally the embodiment of selflessness, heroism, and virtuousness. And the greatest embodiment of a superhero or hero.
I think so many writers and fans forget that Batman is a protector, above all things. As Batman he can fight and outwit the people that would take advantage of and hurt others, especially children. As Bruce Wayne he uses his riches to fund Gotham's public works. Wayne Enterprises has whole sections of the company devoted to helping to rehabilitate ex convicts. This is all in the comics and in the animated show. Batman believes in second chances, he thinks everyone should get a second chance. And a third, and a fourth. He doesn't kill because he values all life so deeply. In Frank Miller's Batman: Year One, he's seen saving a homeless person from being killed, and a cat from being run over. No life is too small or insignificant for Batman to save. We forget that, deep down, Batman is that 8 year old boy who saw his parents die and vowed that no one else would have to go through what he did. He isn't just punching and outwitting bad guys, he's a protector of the innocent. As Batman AND as Bruce Wayne.
Batman has many things going for him: 1) He looks cool. Batman is the most aesthetically comic/fiction character. 2) His universe. Gotham, Batcave, Wayne Enteprises. You can make a storyline out of any of those. 3) The villains. Joker is as popular as Batman. But after Joker you also have Scarecrow, the Riddler, the Penguin, Poison Ivy. Again, you can make stories out of any of those villains and make it good. 4) The comic stories. No other comic character has so many good storylines: Year One, The long halloween, Hush, In the court of owls, Dark Night Rises, JLA Tower of Babel, etc. 5) Great movies. The Michael Keaton movies were the catalyst of the superhero movie. Then you have the Nolan trilogy which are just great movies that happen to feature Batman. Sure there are many Batman movie duds out there, but the good ones are really great. 6) Video games. The Batman Arkham video games are iconic at this point. 7) Batman animated series. Any kids that watched this in the 90’s became an instant Batman fan. That’s all I can think of. Some may say Batman’s relatability, but I disagree. Batman is not relatable. He is a billionaire wealthy man that can afford to be a vigilante. This is why Spiderman is more popular to normies, becuase Spidey is “relatable”. However that doesn’t mean Spiderman is a better character.
What makes him the greatest superhero to me is that he represents the struggles we have in our everyday lives and figures out how to overcome all odds despite how against him they are at times. He took the tragedy of his parent's death and used it as motivation to be a force of good in the world and to rid it of evil... and overtime, he learns to open up to the world more and to keep living and to get over his parents' death for the most part, and essentially learns to cope with it. He didn’t let his tragedy define him. In many ways we do the same things in our life and can apply those lessons to ourselves. Batman inspires hope in us. He is a bright and a beacon of hope in a city of darkness.
You are yourself a story teller Brother your words were like a Scholar but your attitude is like a true leader who can inspire everyone to deal with the hardships of Life. Thank You.
Very good analysis. As much as i dislike Batman as a character and his outrageous feats of beating overwhelmingly more powerful foes "because Batman" i can get behind your reasoning-The Ultimate Underdog.
Batman is my favorite superhero, and here's why. Superhero comics aren't just power fantasies like people say. They're a lesson to generations young and old to do the right thing, and nobody represents that idea more than batman. He's as pure a hero as there is. Sure he's awesome, has a cool rogues gallery, and a nice car, but at the base of it all, he's a symbol for good. Bruce Wayne is a boy who died alongside his parents, and was reborn into a creature that criminals would fear. It may be the car, or the gadgets that makes him so popular, but I like to think it's that. That he is such a pure good hero, that people have grown to love, and be inspired by him.
He has a big ego and so overconfident too like when he tried to go head to head with the predator and we all know how that ended up in jl cartoon Harley Quinn sucker punched him because he let his guard down people say he took down the entire league but they clearly forgot how much that plan sucked are we all gonna ignore the fact how terribly everything was backfired when ras stole all those plans and everything blew up in his face
Actually there are tubes on Bane in the Dark Knight series. In the last battle Batman wins because he breaks the tubes on Bane's mask. Also love the video and your channel, keep up the good work.
Excellent essay. Yes. The genius of Batman is that he’s a man without powers. The psychology aspect, the shadow side of young Bruce Wayne, the Bat, is key. Batman is the most driven of all superheroes. His internal conflict drives him. The evil he fights externally is nothing compared to the evil he battles within himself. He’s always aware of this, thus, he refuses to kill. He will maim, and batter his foes to to the point of death. But he goes no further. He knows to cross the line would make him the same as the evil he pursues. It’s the internal conflict keeps us riveted to each new chapter … he simply. NEVER. STOPS. HE WILL PURSUE YOU WITH RELENTLESS OBSESSION. You are right. Unlike other superheroes, Bruce Wayne is the Mask. Batman is the individual. This reversal makes him the most fascinating and psychologically complex of all hero’s , he’s straight out of a Dostoyevsky novel.

Richard Greig is joker’s Penis white?

@This Is What Awesome Looks Like but is he relatable?
Really man i think i liked the animated batman movies much much better and batman begins was my fav batman live action movie
@@SemiHighFlyer shut up atleast batman is more realistic and relatable and believable than spider man and Superman and iron man
Why batmans the most compelling in a nutshell: he does the impossible, and his reasons for doing these and how he does them are so complex that if you took one factor out you simply couldn't understand it.
Deep down, Clark's essentially a good person... and deep down, I'm not."

I agree Batman is the best. He's my favorite.
But the funny thing is, when I argue with my buddy, who is a Superman fan, I give a bunch of reasons why Batman is the best. His story, his villains, his allies, the relationships between all of them, the symbolism, overcoming tragedies.
And when you ask him why Superman is the best, he'll simply say "Because he's the BEST."
And I hate to admit that we're both right.

But what makes the dark Knight in the man of steel's relationship so interesting is there brotherhood
They've always had their differences but they never let it divide between their friendship
And honestly one can't as interesting without the other
Some of the best comics are with BOTH of them
The problem is Superman isn't as well represented in mainstream media outside of comics
But I recommend Superman the animated series,
Superman vs. The elite,

Yeah. It's not like he's pretending to live life as Clark Kent as compared to Batman who pretends to live life as Bruce Wayne.
The Closer Look You are right. He is wrong. Superman is the mask.

@Marcel X10 Batman centers his moral code on making the world less shitty so people don't end up like him. Spidey centers his on doing the right thing because he has the power and therefore the responsibility

Honestly even though batman HIMSELF is not relatable his psychology is.
And I have such love for him.
I need a life
An extremely well done video.
I think its amazing how a human could do all these things. He's literally insane.
As it stated at the end of this video essay because he's BATMAN!!
Batman has many things going for him:
1) He looks cool.
However that doesn’t mean Spiderman is a better character.
stop downplaying spiderman just to make batman look better
Also if u give him just a few days maybe even hours he can figure out an opponent's weakness and then defeat them.
He’s the GOAT
Next is Superman

Very good analysis. As much as i dislike Batman as a character and his outrageous feats of beating overwhelmingly more powerful foes "because Batman" i can get behind your reasoning-The Ultimate Underdog.
He uses his intelligence to fight enemies.
That's completely believable.
Because he's not just rich and strong but also intelligent. Batman is also a great detective ya know'
He has a big ego and so overconfident too like when he tried to go head to head with the predator and we all know how that ended up in jl cartoon Harley Quinn sucker punched him because he let his guard down people say he took down the entire league but they clearly forgot how much that plan sucked are we all gonna ignore the fact how terribly everything was backfired when ras stole all those plans and everything blew up in his face
Actually there are tubes on Bane in the Dark Knight series. In the last battle Batman wins because he breaks the tubes on Bane's mask. Also love the video and your channel, keep up the good work.
Zico Mitchell Yeah, but I believe those tubes were to help him breathe, not inject him with venom
You either die a hero or you live long enough to see your self become the villain ;)
Why batman is the best superhero?.
Batman: because I'm batman
You do NOT want to get on the man’s bad side. Big mistake. HUGE.
