I was smiling almost the whole time (except when you, Yami were crying toward the end. Then it was evident they were happy tears). I am thrilled for you all and I wish you the best outcomes as possible with as few snags as possible. This is going to be an exciting adventure even for us, your followers. I applaud your doing your due diligence with your hiring process. I also wish you, Nelson, the best of fortune as the GC of your home build. We all know Miss Yami is going to make the house a gorgeous forever home!! I’m ready for the ride and the long haul. Much love ❤

Love and admire what you and your family are doing to start a different life. Please don’t apologize for so called “taking so long”??? I’m honestly amazed at how far you’ve come with all the life changes you’ve had in the past year or so. Can’t wait to see the progress every step of the way and know that I respect and believe in you both 💕💕💕💕💕

Hi Yami, when we built our home in Southwest Florida we also had mud everywhere. What we did, was make a side walk all around the house so when it rains, we can walk around without tracking mud inside. Congrats I'm very happy for you.

Yami! You weren’t thanking me for being patient…. Cause I WASNT I was checking your channel every couple of days to make sure I didn’t miss anything, lol. Like whaaaaats going on 😂😂😂😂. I just figured yall were baby busy. So glad to hear yalls great news and YES I have just finished full renovations and Nelson saying that contractors don’t like to work with people that KNOW things about construction COULD NOT BE MORE TRUE! Most want to deal with the totally unaware so that they can skate by with whatEVER they decide. I was so particular that my neighbor had me low key oversee hers…. Saying nothing to the contractor but checking behind him and reporting the questionable things to them so they could address them. And man o man were there some things! I wish you all the best. And GIRL! You can’t be on here crying making me tear up… but yes def emotional!!!! Yaaayyyyyyy❤

I’m so excited and so very happy for you and Nelson. One thing is certain, that soil is and will be fantastic for a vegetable garden or for growing anything. That baby girl is so beautiful like her mom. It was so good to see Nelson too. Talking General Contractor, Nelson won’t any worse than my brother, lol. He was on his million dollar house on the lake. Three stories because at the time my niece’s husband had ALS and the bottom floor was for her and her husband ( her two children had rooms upstairs with papa n his wife). He knows carpentry because my dad built a lot of houses in our area and up in NC also.

¡FELICITACIONES!!! It's going to be great! My son decided to be his own GC for the remodeling of their house (added a master bedroom & bathroom, new kitchen, family room, covered patio, all new floors, windowns, etc.) He had NO previous building experience, but after interviewing a lot of GC's, he decided to just do it himself. I thought it was a bad, baaaad idea! LOL! Well, I'm happy to report that he proved me wrong. It's is a stressful process, but it is so worthwhile. You got this! ¡Va a ser una aventura!

Can't wait to see that slab and framing go up! You'll really be crying your eyes out for that one... I've never had the luxury of building my own home, but I did buy a new home in 2007 that my end husband ended with in the divorce, but still remember the excitement of signing those papers! Our first walk through of that empty house already felt like "home" and that's how I knew it was the ONE! GOOD LUCK AND can't wait to see the finished product and what types of finishes you choose. Also, whether you decorate with thrifted and upcycled DIY decor, new decor, or a mix of both ❤❤❤

Congratulations on the ground-breaking! Yay! So happy and excited for y'all. Nelson, my son is also a GC, so I have seen first hand how it can be both frustrating and rewarding. He (son) has recently switched from new builds to restorations of historical homes and buildings, and while he loves the work, he says it is also tedious work at times. Oh and also so very frustrating when he has to scout and hunt for precise materials, parts and pieces. But, best wishes, loads of love and prayers and happy vibes coming to y'all from way down south (SW) Georgia. xx OH and the land/views are gorgeous! Do y'all see many deer?

Congratulations, I'm so happy for both of you! I went to Tennessee for the first time when my mom passed away in Dec. of 2021. When we crossed the border in Tennessee, we hit a rain storm, and that rain was treacherous it came down every whichway it was crazy because in Massachusetts, we don't get that kind of rain. My husband had to pull off the interstate and wait for the rain to stop because he couldn't see, but the people that live their were just flying by us like it was nothing. Now I know why they cancel school their when it rains 😂! You are not joking when the ground gets wet, where cows have been, you definitely know you're in the farm lands, it's nice and ripe, mm it's not nice if your not used to the smell 🤣🤣🤣!

I feel your pain guys. I live in a big city and it's still hard to find a good contractor. AND sometimes they don't show up to see the project to give you a quote. I could never do a new build, good luck!

Hi Yami, I enjoyed your vlog. Me and my best friend enjoyed watching. Sorry to hear, these projects are exciting but very stressful and can take a very long time and patience. I know someone who got a new house built. They went on holiday while things were in construction, when they came back from their holiday it was a disaster. They were very devastated because they put a lot of trust in the builders and hoped things would run well. They were let down. I felt your emotion

Hi Yami and Nelson. Congratulations on breaking ground, I will be with you every step of the way as usual. I think the thing we often forget is we don't need everything up front our dream homes are ones in the making. the best this and the best that. this is things you have time to add as time goes on. it doesn't have to be about the finishing touches until the very end. things like getting the house sealed up ready for the weather this is things that are very important, all the things like walls and floors need to be in place for when you move in. the finishing touches on the inside of the home is the most important after the exterior is done the shutters is more of a decorative element that doesn't need to be put in place until the inside is complete Stone accents too a lot of the time they can be done afterwards when the house is weather tight then the home making really begins, Which both of you have done with the little cottage/studio so finishing touches can be done at your leisure you are starting from the ground up. having the nice stuff is good the finishing stuff can come much later the home is going to be built and built well and that is the bones of the house remember you are what makes the building a home take your time and get the finishing touches that you really want later just get the bones ready to be beautiful sacrifices is the name of the game when it comes to building your dream home buy things that you like now and then after everything is finished and you have had time to be a family living in your new home time to decompress then you can slowly buy the things you actually want to have in your dream home. It is great that you are educating yourselves in the process's it is always best to have the knowledge of how things are done and you know from experience how things should be done and know if someone is not doing what they are supposed to be doing but also keep an open mind not everyone does things the way it is written down in the manual so to speak if the outcome is the same there is more than one way to do things as long as it meets the requirements to be to code on inspection otherwise make them do it the way it need to meet code. We have some strict codes here in Canada, because we are in an earthquake zone, things have to be done right. The codes change but the methods are still the same. Periodic inspections are done by the city to make sure the house doesn't fall down aft the magnitude earthquakes have jolted your house around for how ever many seconds it takes to be over. The weather can be a big hold back when it comes to the exterior of the house that's for sure. I wish we had been the General Contractor on our first home we bought but we bought the show home so we assumed it was done right until a hurricane blew off a whole piece of ply wood from the roof on our dream home the neighbour up the street called us up and said a piece of your roof has just landed in our front garden. there was absolutely no nails in the ply wood when we saw it the next day. not even holes of where nails should have been. Crazy right? That's what we said. Anyways Nelson you keep on them contractors are wilily people. I know they are people but this is what they do and a lot of the contractors do cut corners, it is good you are aware of this. i am sure everything is going to go well or make them fix their mistakes and put it down as they tried now they know we know what they are doing, make sure they don't bury some of the trash in the soil they move around. we were digging out bits of siding and house wrap pieces of wood nails and screws it was like a treasure hunt every time we dug into soil. Congratulations to you both this is very exciting i am so very happy for you both, I was always told don't sweat the small stuff cos it can be done later on down the line. We moved into our dream home back in October, i had been the dutiful wife and followed my husbands career almost his whole career and the kids are all left home for good this time i think, and now its time for us to follow one of my dreams. We too bought pasture land that over 20+ years ago had sheep, cows, (dairy farm), Pigs goats and a few horses on it and the recycled mater was still in the 150 year old barn when we bought the house that i am slowly getting rid of. thankfully there was no smell left in it and most of it had already rotted down enough to be classed as soil thankfully but now we can see the concrete in the barn and the walls there is some fine tuning the old barn back into shape. the upper level in the barn is empty which is great because the barn is holding its own weight but finding someone that can fix the small problems that need fixing is going to be a challenge. but we have the spring summer and fall to get it done. I have two Miniature Horses and two Pigmy goats in separate stalls that i made for them. Some structural issues need addressing a few large cracks and a wall busting out everything is sured up with timbers and I beams but the issues have never really been dealt with so i will have to find someone to fix the structural issues before anything else needs to be done on the inside of the barn. she is sound and according to the inspector the barn will probably be there another 150 years. Here's hoping he is right! Congratulations to you both. God bless. Adios
