We’re bringing you to Dorset, Vermont for a look inside interior designer Joshua Smiths’ exquisite home. Nestled within 70 acres, the French Rambler-style home has breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Built in the 1990’s, the home required major renovations to bring its New England charm back to life.
Considering the home’s gorgeous location, Joshua incorporated nature into his design as much as possible. Large windows overlook the gardens on each side of the home, while a blend of contemporary decor and antiques make the home feel very cozy and welcoming.

I loved this episode! How to make the "mundane more ordinary" was a powerful takeaway from his tour. I adore his meditative approach to life and design. The home and views are out of this world, but he said about 1000 things that were pure gold and quotable. Great find, Homeworthy!
I just absolutely adore his vibe! He is so authentic and seems like he has so much genuine love people and their spaces. In fact he seems more like an interior designer than any other person who have shared their home on this channel.

You nailed it !!! My thoughts exactly!!! I grew tired of listening to so many interior designers use the exact same expressions, it was as if i heard the same person talk every time. Maybe it is their communicative skills, their field of expertise is design and home décor so it is understandable, but this one , he is a gem !!

This is a tour of a home not just a house. The interiors are calm and comforting, the exterior is stunning and breathtaking. What a thoughtful renovation! Appreciate the designer's relatable approach and personality. Love, love, love the segment in the kitchen reminiscing over items with special meaning and stories. It feels like the designer is talking to an old friend. The artwork also needs to be made mention...STUNNING! My favorite part of the whole tour, the owner and his husband's dogs crashing the party.

I am totally self taught and remodeled my first home at 23. There, I had to learn the “how to’s’”, as I could not afforded to hire work done. 10 years later, after working a job I dreaded, I remodeled my second Home, but with more money. I left that job, as my friends began asking me to help them and I kept working through word of mouth. Had a year of Drafting in High School, which got me through my drawings, and was always an artist. I did take one semester of Design in College, which taught me some about color. Isn’t it wonderful to blessed to get paid for what you love to do. I don’t mind long hours because my time goes by quickly, as I absolutely love my job. I continue to learn and that’s why I so enjoyed your video. Love your philosophy regarding Design. Congrats. Lovely remodel.

Ohhh my… as much as the interior decor of this house is beautiful, the owner takes the credit. An interior designer, who truly enjoys his work, which is reflection of his passion. Enjoyed listening to him describing each corner, rooms and artifacts, very intentional. His design theme hugely influenced by nature was such a delight. Loved this episode ❤

This is the best kind of home tour….where you can feel such good vibes not just in the thoughtfulness of the decor, but also the person as well! He picked pieces for comfort and almost soulful-like, and beauty of course, but not just “showpieces” for shock value or showing off. Those have a place in every home of course, but this just feels like the kind of real home feel that most of us feel inspired by. Enjoyed this one so much 💛

What a well thaught out home,it draws you into every space from the interior to the exterior.The color palettes and pieces of furniture to the personal decor is just stunning.The mix of antiques and vintage pieces are placed amongst each other beautifully.

Breathtaking view and a beautifully designed house. The kitchen is one of the nicest I've seen. I'm so glad that he is not wasteful, 99% of the usual suspects we see here (vacuous airheads) would have had it ripped out, only to fit an almost identical one. Joshua has a warm and emotion filled aura. He and his husband seem a perfect match and very finely tuned to each other, and I bet they are wonderful hosts to their visitors. I wouldn't want to leave. Just give me a comfy chair and throw me a sandwich every day or so, I'll be the one staring at those mountains from the terrace whilst sighing contentedly. Bliss!

That feeling of not just acceptance in to another family, but love and being seen in your totality. What a lovely warm cozy home. Just loved all of your furniture choices, everything so beautiful. And U even lived tier floral plates too. The powder room was fantastic and love the idea of using an old frame and having mirror installed in the frame. Artwork was great too.

I would take this house exactly as is (okay on a smaller scale). I LOVE his taste in everything!!! This interior and exterior are perfect. Enough traditional maximalism to feel cozy and comfortable but not cluttered. The art isn’t over the top and fits the design scheme perfectly. Did I mention I love this home??? LOL
