I so enjoy your videos! This one was especially enjoyable and your meal looked sooo good. I am definately going to make both recipes. One of the reasons I so enjoy your videos is, of course, your sweet personality, and that you are so genuine. I have unsubscribed from most you tubers because, as their channels grew, they changed, and all they did was push products for subscribers to buy. I hope you never change the focus of your videos. Thank you for sharing your lovely life and family with us.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you staying around. I too, have stopped watching other UA-camrs for similar reasons. I definitely won't go out of my way to sell anything, but I will always be genuine when there is something I truly love and wish to share with everyone. I do love to partner with brands, but I am always very particular with who I work with also.
Hi,this is how I watch my favorite youtubers. Lol I saw your little carrot protectors..lol I have my phone in hand and hit the amazon button and of course I'm in search of those cute carrots. Lol.yes I'm that person..lol They are now been ordered. 😄 .So happy to see you at least not showing that you are not stressed ...Love how the kitchen turned out.Stay warm. 😂.🙂
I always get a big smile on my face when I get a new video notification from you, sweet friend. Hope you and the family are doing well. We're continuing to pray for y'all.
Thank you! You too!
@@TheLatinaNextDoor you're welcome, sweet friend. Thank you.
The kitchen is beautiful and the food looks delicious.
Farm life is different if you’re never lived it before. It will get better as you find out your family needs and how the weather is year round. It will be so beautiful there. I miss it so much.
I’m glad you can start filming again❤️blessings
Yes, everyday brings a new challenge it seems. We are just trying to be positive regardless of what comes our way.
And looks like you have yourself some wonderful neighbors!! Good neighbors are priceless!
I make my biscuits exactly like you make yours. So glad that you mentioned not overworking the dough. That is a mistake that a lot of people make and they end up with tough biscuits. Hope you and your family have a great weekend. Hugs from the south east coast of Florida.😎🦩🌞🦩😎
Wonderful! Have a great weekend!
Love this relaxing cooking video! Thank you. 😊
You are so welcome! I hope to make more relaxing videos like this to share.
I love seeing all of you having fun in the snow. I know it can be tiring for you getting all the wet clothes and mopping the wet foot shoe prints, but it’s worth it because one day it will be just you and Nelson looking back and the beautiful memories! So…. have fun with them now! Thank you for sharing!
Omgosh..you and my husband and garlic! I like garlic but for me, you garlic lovers 🤯. Lol. My husband makes garlic paste butter and cooks with 8:38 it and my house gets overwhelmed with garlic smell. I think you too could be friends.❤
You can use all of the scraps in your garbage bowl to make vegetable broth. Just put in in the freezer until you have enough, and either cook them n a pot of water, with seasonings of your choice. I use my instant pot for this and it comes out great every time.
I was going to share this too. I make "free" veggie broth that can go into the freezer or be canned (my preference). The squash peels, strings, and seeds can go to the chickens or in the compost bin. Who knows? You might end up with some squash volunteers. 😊
Right now we give most of our scraps to our chickens, but that is a good option in the future. ☺️
I enjoyed so much. Beautiful country. Food looks amazing. I'm gonna try the buscuits.
I will try the squash in chili soon, have never heard of it. You 😊chop foods just right. Your biscuits look delicious. One more thing, your speech sounds different. I😊 really like your projects.
This looks delicious minus the celery. I don’t think celery adds any flavor to anything and I don’t like chopped celery. That’s just me. I prefer a raw celery stalk. This does look like a delicious chili. I love squash. Soups are delicious year round for me but my boys prefer it in winter time. 😆 They’re both picky eaters even as adults. I was raised on fresh veggies from our garden. To me veggies are a delicacy. Green beans are my favorite. It will be wonderful for you and your family when you get to plant and grow your own vegetables. 😊❤
This was such a sweet, relaxing and informative video! Watch out Barefoot Contessa 😊! Seriously, you made these recipes look so easy and delicious that I'm sure quite a few persons will like to try making them, and I'm one of them. Thank you for the tip on using the scraper while kneading the dough. My hands get so full of flour when handling wet dough like this, and the scraper is a game changer.😊 Blessings to you and your beautiful Familia. 🙏🏼
I chop my garlic too. But, I have Trader Joe’s minced garlic on hand just in case. It’s in the freezer section, they come in convenient measured out cubes (they have ginger too). I don’t like the jar garlic either. I think it’s because they added stuff in it for shelf life.
I roast all my winter squash seeds--- pumpkin, butternut, acorn squash. I rinse them, air dry them, and put them in the freezer until I have a bunch. When I'm ready I thaw them and toss them with a little olive oil and seasonings, and roast them on low heat on a sheet pan. I'm pretty sure any time we have "pepitas" it's actually a mix. I'm going to try your chili recipe, it looks amazing 🤩
Great video! I've made buttermilk biscuits for so many years that I don't follow a recipe or measure anything. And they turn out perfect every time. I hate to make them with regular milk. They aren't nowhere near as good. I'm so happy that you are back! Your channel is one of my favorites. I love your family!
I live in Maine, and we have long cold spells. I'm certainly going to try your recipes. It will be my first time trying the biscuits. Thanks for the inspiration!😊
Lovely chili. Vegetable shortening causes leaky gut. I would not recommend. But every one has to do their own thing. Very cozy dinner.
Thank you for this video...I will definitely try the biscuits!!!
Yes!! I’ve roasted butternut and acorn squash seeds, the same as pumpkin. And they’re just as good.
The chili and biscuits look great. My grandmother taught me how to make buttermilk biscuits. She did not use butter in hers. I will have to try the recipe along with the chili recipe. I love trying new recipes.
Omg I totally Love the barefoot Contessa as well!!! Loved this lovely video. And you so cute dress and sweater you were wearing!
what we did in arkansas is take some lumber, 2x6 lay them in pairs end to end between everywhere, car to cottage, to shed and camper, two side by side is easier to walk on that staying on one board....its just what you have to do.....
I also love Barefoot Contessa. I make her Mac and cheese with tomato for a lot of large family functions along with several others. Also you are correct about the jar garlic. I don’t think it has any garlic taste. Your meals looked fantastic.
Glad I am not the only one who throws the trash in the good bowl. lol I’m going to try this recipe as I just recently found out I actually like butternut squash. I like the celery leaves also and always use them in something.
biscuit recipe please!? Looks delicious
I just added it, sorry! www.thelatinanextdoor.com/2024/02/01/homemade-buttermilk-biscuits/
You can definitely roast butternut squash seeds. Just as good as pumpkin seeds
I’ve never had butternut squash before. I just may have to try this new soup! Thanks
Wow!Yami everything looks so delicious! Your voice is so sweet soothing ❤
Everything looks delicious ❣️❣️
Look at all that snow!😮 What part of Tennessee do y'all live in?
Your soup looks delicious! I make buttermilk biscuits, too! There's nothing like homemade food, right?❤ I love it!❤ As always, Yami, thank you for sharing your recipes with us! Stay safe, healthy, and positive! God bless you and your family!🙏❤️🇺🇸😊
We are in like on the border of middle and east TN near Crossville.
@TheLatinaNextDoor OK. Nice. Thank you, Yami. I was just curious because my husband and I will be moving to Tennessee. We want a small farm as well.❤️
Looks so yummy, will try the recipes for sure; thanks!
No the jar garlic does not taste the same. I prefer everything fresh myself. The taste is so much better.
Love your sweet self, so yummy and calming😉
It looks so yummy and the biscuits as well! You have a beautiful life.
Never heard anything negative about Rachel Ray. Love her AND Barefoot Contessa. Rachel's 30 minute meals are iconic. Maybe it's her flavor profile you don't like. Either way...they both are incredible ❤❤❤
Right, I never said anything negative either, just that I never really cared for her recipes. I did tune in and watch regularly in hopes of finding something I liked but it never really happened. I did get those two great tips from her in the kitchen that I use daily. ☺️
Great video, Yami!
I’m with you in the “unpopular opinion” that RR’s show and recipes are a bit too chaotic for me as well! I’m absolutely certain she’s a wonderful person, don’t get me wrong! She’s just not my cup of tea!
Love barefoot contessa!
Those biscuits look AMAZING!!! Must try!!
Hope y’all are well & staying warm! 💖
So happy you enjoyed!
It looks yummy and delicious.😊👍👍👍
Those biscuits looks so yummy!! Gotta try’m!!!
Freshly minced over *jarlic* anyday. 😆 There's been phases as I gained cooking skills, where I've used jarlic because I felt like I was constantly throwing away garlic because my usage was inconsistent. When I started getting better at cooking and using more garlic I bought one of those fabric bags with a zipper and drawstring and hang it inside my dark pantry and I have better luck keeping fresh garlic in rotation. Recipes look super tasty! I love meat with a bit of heat combined with squash or sweet potatoes. I love that flavor profile! Thanks for sharing! 💚🧡
Jarlic!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I loved it so much I told Nelson right away.
Wow so beautiful that looks so delicious and just beautiful thank you so much for sharing your family home and you all have a blessed weekend 💗🌈💙🦋💚
Thank you! You too!
The chili and biscuits look amazing!
Oh my goodness, you made me hungry. Will definitely making the biscuits. My family won't eat the chili but I would for sure.
My family thought it was kinda weird at first but now they all love the chili. 🥰 Hope you enjoy those biscuits!
Need to try the soup and biscuits ..might have deer sausage …..enjoy country life there’s nothing like it…Bendiciones ❤
Sounds great!
Scoop out seeds and run them under water seperating it from the pulp. Spread seeds out on a paper towel or kitchen towel to dry. The seeds probably will stick to the towel and that’s fine, just peel them off.
Transfer the seeds onto a baking sheet lined with parchment or a Silpat baking mat and drizzle with oil. Toss to coat and then sprinkle the seeds with salt.
Spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet so they cook evenly.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the seeds turn a golden brown.
Thank you!
Yami the video was fantastic. To be honest the bean soup/chili just would not be my cup of tea but I have to say when you opened that biscuit my mouth started to salivate. How I wished you could have put a huge pat of butter on it and passed it right through the screen. Those biscuits absolutely looked scrumptious. Enjoy that cozy winter meal.
Glad you liked the biscuit! If I could have passed it through the screen, I would have! 😉
Dinner looks delicious and nutritious 😋
Laundry with lots of kids is never easy. Any way to move it much closer to the cottage? Hope you are using disposable diapers.
Thanks! Moving it would require rerunning electrical wire etc. and we just don’t have the time or energy to do that at the moment. Hopefully we won’t have to continue doing this after this year. 🙏🏼
The chilli looked absolutely amazing Yami, but the highlight for me was you going to do the laundry in your fluffy slippers.🤣
LOL! They are actually boots with fur on the top 🤣🤣
Yes,you can roast butternut squash...they are yummy
I want to make the chili and biscuits, looks so good!
Just catching up on your channel. I see your in the area our daughter inlaw is from. Her cousin passed away from elements of the snow storm at Fall Creek Falls state park 2 weeks ago. It was so tragic for the family. Our son met her at the park when we would camp there every summer for 2 weeks. They were in HS then and she worked at the General store at the park. Her aunt ran the Golf shop. Her son was the one who fell down in the gorge. They live right outside the park. She lived in Spencer. Her brother is the principal at the school in Spencer. Her mom is the nurse at the Jail. Such a beautiful area. Your chili looks delicious.
Oh my goodness! I read about someone falling 700ft and that they were rescued but nothing after that. I had no idea it was so tragic and I didn’t see anything reported anywhere else. We live about 10 minutes from the park. I’m so very sorry for your loss. We haven’t done any of the trails as of yet, they certainly don’t look beginner friendly. We do enjoy going to the snack bar, the lodge, and the parks.
The meal looks delicious. I have tried your biscuits and I love them. I'm going to try this soup. Thank you for your inspiration.
I’m so glad you like the biscuits! 🥰
Grating the butter! Wow perfect. I have never had a chili or soup like this! Looks awesome. thank you for sharing. What is in your tea towel bowl?
That's my sourdough starter.
So i made hamburger soup and canned biscuits..I am counting this as a win. Thank you for the modivation..♥
Yay! Enjoy! Sounds delicious!
Hello my sweet lovely Latino friend this is a wonderful video I so enjoyed the stew and biscuits great combination and I think you cut up the vegetables very good you exactly knew how to hold the knife most people don't know how to use a knife correctly. I pray that you & your are staying safe & warm. P.s. don't forget to compost your scraps ❤
We hope to start a compost soon, for now, we give what is safe for the chickens.
@@TheLatinaNextDoor awe y'all have chickens 🙂 that's great!!
Yes the trash bowl came from Rachel Ray. So much easier to keep cooking n keeping things clean. Looks delicious!
Yes it does! 🙌🏼💕
Thank you for this video Yami. I’m making those biscuits soon, they look delicious!
You are so welcome!
Everything looked delish
Can't wait to try making this in the fall.
I’m from Indiana nothing like the 4 seasons, nice cozy winter video
I agree! We love to experience all seasons here.
This looks amazing! Do you think it would still taste good if I didn't add the cream?
Yes, definitely! We just like it a little creamy. 🥰
OMG…..looks delicious 🤤
You are so sweet Yami I’m going to try this recipe .. and yes I liked fresh garlic because it doesn’t taste the same at all. So your good 👍🏻 ❤
I LOVED YOUR APRON 😂 where did you get it ? 😂
You are killing me with those Buttermilk biscuits
Aw thank you! I got it here amzn.to/3HGurGX
@@TheLatinaNextDoor Gracias chica! 🫶🏻
That chili looks delicious…n yeah u can definitely roast the seeds…they actually are delicious I use them as a topper in my butternut squash soup
Wow! I must try this!
Liking your cooking, would love to see you also include Puerto Rican recipes.
I have a few up my sleeve! Stay tuned!
It looks great! Tyfs 🙏💪❤
Bwahahaha……who is he kidding, Nelson had more fun in the snow than the kids!! 😂
I’m SOO loving this life you’ve chosen for your family sweetheart! I wish I was younger with little ones…..I’d be right next door!! Ohhhh and I’m DEFINITELY making this!!! ☺️❤☺️
Bravo Yami! I would love to make those biscuits! They look perfect ❤❤❤ Just like my Mother used to make, she died over 30 year's ago and I'm from Alabama. Those are THE Southern buttermilk biscuits ❤
Oh wow! That was a lot of snow. Here in West Texas we don’t get snow to often. But I like it like that. Y’all do have very nice neighbors. That is so nice of them to help y’all. Que rica comida 😋. Thanks for sharing, Yami. Saludos y bendiciones para Los Latinos ❤️🙏🏽
Your chili looks delicious! ❤
Looks delicious! And you don’t look weird cutting veggies. Thanks for the recipe. Stay warm.
Hi Yami! Everything looks so good! I have never used or had squash, it looks like a sweet potato consistency? I'll have to try it, looks so good! We've had a lot of rain down here in GA too. The snow looked so pretty though! I know how it can make a mess though, that wheat should help some. Our yard was squishy. Now the sun has been out and it's been so nice! I'm with you when it comes to Ina, I've made a few of her dishes and they are so good! I agree about the garlic, I always use fresh. Hope all is well!❤
Yes, they are similar in consistency. It's so tasty too!
@@TheLatinaNextDoor Thanks for the info! It looked so good and the biscuits did too! Good comfort food. ❤
So enjoyed this video - listening to you and watching you cook was perfect for a nice, relaxing Sunday. Love all of your crafting videos and life update videos, too! You are beautiful inside and out and I'm glad I found your UA-cam channel. 💕
That looks delish!!!
The chili and biscuits look delicious. Just wondering if your kids like it too?
They really do! I have been able to get them to try lots of different foods over time. My 8 year old is my most picky eater, but even she eats this ☺️
Definitely trying this recipe as is, looks so yummy. I definitely agree about garlic, only fresh garlic tastes like garlic to me. I never buy precut or jarred veggies of any kind and I’m very picky about frozen veggies. Thanks for sharing❤
Oh wow looks delicious
Great to see you living the good life Yami! Northeast Ohio here and we are pretty much bogged down in the mud, too. I can't even keep up with the cleaning from the muddy boots and dog paws. Soup and biscuits is a winner for dinner, anytime, but especially when it's cold and grey outside. Thanks for this one, blessings on you and your family, thank you for bringing us along on your adventure.😊
Yes you can roast the seeds.
That looks so good Yami!
Looks delicious ❤
Looks amazing!
That chili looks amazing. The biscuits are gorgeous looking. Snow was beautiful.
Moved to Tennessee from Florida. I remember our first snow on Cagel Mt. It was so beautiful. My son was upset because we were snowed in on his birthday.
We were snowed in on my birthday during the storm so I totally get it, LOL!
@@TheLatinaNextDoor January Birthday 🎂
It looks so good
This looks really good! I’ve never tried squash so I just might give this recipe a try!
Today we started with rain and now it’s snowing in No. Colorado 🤪❤
Delish!
Soup looks great. I’ve never had butternut squash. May have to try.
I've never tried butternut squash but it sure does look delicious
It's so good!
Yes, you can roast the seeds and to me they are even better than pumpkin
Nice! I will have to try!
The garlic in the jar is nasty, fresh is always best
I agree!
Are you all sleeping in the cottage now that it is winter?
Yes!
So going to make both !!! Loved the video 💕
Hope you enjoy!
I so wish my biscuits w turn out like that
You can totally do it! 🙌🏼💕
Yummy ❤❤❤ love this video
Yay! Thank you!
Hi Yami, I enjoyed your vlog. Everything looks great. Me and my best friend enjoyed watching
We enjoy watching your vlogs!
The biscuits are so beautiful! Everyone got snow but, us. I live in Etowah, because of Starr Mt., the warm air was shocked in. Ten miles away got 10 inches. Stay safe!❤️
Oh wow! Didn't know that!
Wow that chili looks so good, I love butternut squash! It’s great to see you cooking in your cottage kitchen, beats the camper for sure:) You look wonderful Yami, hopefully you’re getting some sleep with little baby girl!🥰💕💕💕💕💕
Yes it does! Thank you ☺️
I’m glad you had a wonderful dinner with the family
