@@davidographicsguy OMG😯...My Bad, Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that back then that he'd passed away...RIP Mike🙏😪 Just the same, I really enjoyed your tutorial, with the mass influx of vinyl & digital signage in today's world, I can definitely appreciate all of us who STILL practice the profession of Hand Lettering..!! 🎨🎨🎨 #KeepStrokinBrotherYouDoItWell
davidographicsguy Oh yes, but not like I want to. I'd love to make a living at this. I'm also a portrait artist, but I'm not doing much with that either. Having a hard time applying myself. However, I am getting inspired by your videos. I'd really like some advice on selling window splashes. I work better on glass. Thanks for your response!
Just starting again after 35 year break ! Did some coach lining and lettering back in my early 20's but couldn't make a living from it so packed it in, now as I approach retirement want to make it a hobby. Bike fuel tanks and art work for posters etc. Your work is so inspiring, learning so much just watching you work, many thanks for sharing your skills
Another easy to understand video. Question. When you started the shadow segment you statted the brush was #4. Can you recall what brand? And don't spend a lot time on this. The brush seemed to leave a super clean, crisp stroke. Thanks.
Can I ask how you achieve the faded blue/black background on the board? I have been thinking of spray painting and then varnishing over it on a wooden board but unsure it will produce a nice result. Helpful videos, thanks!
If you would like a super smooth finish I would recommend using ACP (aluminum composite panel) Sign shops throw away pounds of scraps of this stuff. You need to lightly sand the surface with 320 grit sand paper. Other wise make sure the wood has a couple of coats of primer, sanding each coat, then use gloss spray paint all of like kind then clear coat with gloss Rustoleum UV non yellowing clear. Their is a high speed process video on my channel called "St. Patrick's day 2017. I hope this helps. Thank you!
Thank you Steve, when I made this video I only had a few of your brushes. Later you changed all that. I think I will make a lettering video using your larger brushes.
Thank you so much! It's very well explained! Could I please ask how you erase the charcoal sketch from the large signs (eg like the one with Happy Bday)?
I think everyone would love to see what you can do with the larger Kwills too, do you use the liners for casual script lettering? Dave ,I still charge $10.00 for a name, one color, I see people charging $25 and even $50. For a single name, and their not even wearing a mask! I would feel sooo guilty!
I use your script liners for illustration and detail work, and use the Kwills for scripts. $25-$50 seems excessive unless that is the only thing the client wants, then I could see calling it “minimum rate”
Always Inspirational David 👏 Shorts seem to be a thing on here ? So maybe close up of a Cap and Lower Case ? Just one letter one style - That's It... 🤷♂
@@davidographicsguy Please don't get me wrong David, I love these 'full length' videos - full alphabets and instructions are in short supply, I just meant less time consuming content for you to produce. Just a suggestion.
David, I’m a man, a youthful 68 year old who carves artistic headstones. Is it realistic to consider training to wield a brush? Your work is wonderful, by the way! Adrian(UK)
Hey That’s amazing work! Most definitely! Because you are way ahead of the curve with your knowledge of letter form. Get yourself a couple of decent lettering brushes and give it a go! Cheers!
Timeless excellence! Your example is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your gift.
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot 👍
So good I’m gonna watch it twice
Whooohooo! Bust out those brushes and sling some paint! 👍😀
Thank you, and yes it does inspire me... gotta practice, practice, practice. Thanks again.
Jesse, When I make a stroke I say “That was fun” when I make an error I say “Oops, but that was fun”. Basically I just keep saying “That was fun!” 😀
Classy, thanks for the demo. I learned a lot.
Awesome Cindy! Please help keep this craft alive! Thank you!
Learned a lot on this! Thanks for posting!
That's awesome Adam! You're very welcome! Above all, have fun!

You are very welcome. Thank you!
Great Video Mike😀 !! I've been admiring your work since my early issues of "Sign Craft" magazines, Keep up the Good Work Buddy!!👍
Oh boy! I’m sorry, I’m David not Mike, he passed away in the late 1980s. I just love his lettering and technique like you. Thank you! 😀👍

I love the way you work that script liner to do letters with.
Thank you so much! Are you lettering too?

That’s awesome! Did you find it easy to get back into the swing of it?
Difficult ! I had very good eyesight and a steady hand in those days ! Wear glasses now. I am enjoying it though

Always a pleasure to see you work, I don’t quite get the use of flats rather than using a large Kwill, please let me know, and thanks in advance..

You mean a close up of just the letters, or doing the letters?
@@davidographicsguy Yeah - 'doing the letters' ie Regular / Bold or Just A + a etc.
After reviewing the 'Script" video again, I see what you mean. Just executing the letters without all the instructions involved?
