Today I received a couple of Kafka Kwills in the post, [no's 5 and 6] and they are a complete revelation. My lettering has moved on a huge amount thanks to your videos and these fabulously superior brushes. 'Thick to thin' works far better, as does 'touching down'. Serifs and sharp corners all much better. They are a little hard to get here in England, the stockists seem to run out of supply quite quickly. That said, they well worth waiting for. Cheers David and thanks for the inspiration....
Wonderful demonstration of a beautiful script! I've been using Mike's script for about 30 years now in my hand painted signage so to see another fan/tradesman using it is very refreshing. Thanks for the great demo, enthusiasm and skill level!
Your videos are outstanding!! This one in particular may be the best learning video I have seen to date. I picked up more nuance in 2 days of watching this video then in 4 months of practice. Thank you!
Very useful presentation David - thank you so much. I'm having a little trouble getting my Kafka quill to chisel. I've tried the paper cup tip but it just seems to clump at the end - I would be very grateful for any tips! Cheers...
Are you using 1-Shot lettering Enamel? If so, are you reducing it? 1-shot needs to be reduced to the point it just starts to run. It may also be that you need to pull more paint out of the brush as I am doing in the Intro Video (At 13:00) ua-cam.com/video/9Oxve499aD4/v-deo.html
I'm starting to grasp the lower case - Oh boy! On with the Caps 👊 Thanks David The anxiety is starting to make way for the relaxation. I've said before - You should offer courses. Lots of others appear to be doing it... Not sure how viable that is where you are but, You'd be great at it. ✌❤
That’s so awesome! I’m so happy for you! It’s such a great feeling when the strokes start to flow off the brush. Thank you for the kind words. Please keep up the great work and post your progress if you can. People like to see the development process for inspiration. 👍😀

Hi again David, I'm struggling a little with head serifs - particularly on small lettering. Is there any chance you could post a video with a few tips?
@@davidographicsguy Actually not this script. I was thinking more of the video where you demonstrated some of the Kafka quills. You were using a Roman script, quite small.. I am practising that script and struggling a little with the head serifs. Was wondering if you could do a demo of those or possibly you've covered that in another video? Many thanks.
Have you seen this series? I go over the strokes thoroughly. For small letters you need a small brush with a very thin clean edge like this: stevekafka.com/products/kwill
@@davidographicsguy Hi david. I didn't see your post until today - apologies for the late reply. I've treated myself to a couple of Kafka Kwills and the results have been a revelation. Many thanks.

That’s awesome James, don’t they have amazing sharp edges?
Yeah, it probably cost more for shipping than than the cost of the brushes! 😮
Cheers Mate!

Unfortunately you’ve taught me that as much as I love this art form it takes skill haha
It’s a slow and steady wins the race kind of journey. Writing them on paper with a pen or pencil helps to embed the letter forms in your brain.
