my first job as a teenager was doing 3 days as a runner on Judge Dredd when it was filming at Shepperton, I was a huge fan of the comic, and those 3 days taught me 2 things, 1 I never wanted to work in the film industry again, and 2 that the film was going to be an absolute turkey.
It was my first introduction to Dredd as a character and I LOVED it! The dystopian future was something that I could see happening, Karl Urban being so gritty and sexy and yum, the story was excellent, the effects were lovely... Just a beautifully dark and bloody film.
The 2012 Dredd film is so good, I've watched it with my mates and a couple of beers several times - Karl Urban did a fantastic job (the "I am the law" speech is a standout), and I think you captured that version of the character really well

Mad flashback - I'd totally forgotten, but I had a bunch of these 2000AD figures at the time. I remember painting Dredd, no idea where the figure is now (probably one of the ones my little brother sold at school when I was away at Uni, the little shit). Nice to see someone acknowledging that old GW minis doesn't always mean Goblin Green bases! :-) Also while I know you tend not to varnish your models I reckon you should considering doing so with that metal Dredd, it should help with the susceptibility metal models have to getting their paint chipped and rubbed off. Maybe the hi-ex round should have the Blast ability? It sounds like something you wouldn't be firing at point blank range!

Those muscle figs, holy cow! Those are/were the first miniatures I ever painted, at the ripe old age of 10. My cousin and I spent sooo many hours and days painting them, rubbing off the paint playing with them, then gleefully repainting them.

Just been re-reading original rogue trader and there really is no 40k or 2000ad without each other! They were so much a part of the same gene pool. 2000ad was and still is such a great comic. BTW that first mini is brilliant, well done! I hope GW somehow get the license back one day, I think them and Rebellion could do great things together
So back in 1978 I came across 2000AD and the Dredd adventure Cursed Earth and I was hooked, I stopped back in the 2000's post prog 2000 due to various reasons. But never lost my love for Dredd. I have some of the old and new Warlord Dredd minis and even sourced a Matchbox Land Raider from the Cursed Earth adventure. This video might actually inspire me to push my Dredd project into action. Love the 40k rules and top job with all 3 Dredds, the 2012 Dredd film was awesome for all the reasons you gave :) - Congratulations on the Twins :)
Considering that 2000 AD and 40k were more or less born in the same-ish time, I wholeheartedly beleive the idea of hive cities and the Adeptus Arbites came entirely from it, in similar fashion to how 40k took insperation from all kinds of other stuff.

Just been re-reading original rogue trader and there really is no 40k or 2000ad without each other! They were so much a part of the same gene pool. 2000ad was and still is such a great comic. BTW that first mini is brilliant, well done! I hope GW somehow get the license back one day, I think them and Rebellion could do great things together
So back in 1978 I came across 2000AD and the Dredd adventure Cursed Earth and I was hooked, I stopped back in the 2000's post prog 2000 due to various reasons. But never lost my love for Dredd. I have some of the old and new Warlord Dredd minis and even sourced a Matchbox Land Raider from the Cursed Earth adventure. This video might actually inspire me to push my Dredd project into action. Love the 40k rules and top job with all 3 Dredds, the 2012 Dredd film was awesome for all the reasons you gave :) - Congratulations on the Twins :)

Considering that 2000 AD and 40k were more or less born in the same-ish time, I wholeheartedly beleive the idea of hive cities and the Adeptus Arbites came entirely from it, in similar fashion to how 40k took insperation from all kinds of other stuff.
