I must say Sir, that this video calmed my wild ADD for a little while! I normally fly through videos, playing at least 1.5 speed, and sometimes skipping ahead. But this little classy, classically captured masterpiece of man playing with his wood made my mind go…sceeerrrrrrrch!!! I watched at normal speed, and wasn’t bothered by it! I actually found myself going back, 10 seconds at a time, to make sure I didn’t miss which way your wood was pointing, especially since you had told us to watch for it. You handled your wood masterfully, and then put it into a box for us all to see, and we all stared, riveted! Bravo my dear Sir, your skills as a woodsmith have gained you another subscriber. 👏🏻
In addition to woodworking I also play the upright bass. I gotta say, the bass solo at 6:22 is SWEET!! I always love the background music of your videos
Hello Blake, I have spent the last couple of days working through making this box. It's my first as I am just building my workshop which is a garage and gathering tools to build intresting things. This video was so inspiring for my first box. It is looking pretty good. I am not sure if I can upload any pictures, but if so I would love to show you what I have done and get your feedback. Definitly an amateur and learning every time I try something new.
So simple and elegant and eliminating the PIA hinges is awesome! Also, I love it that you have such great background music instead of the usual annoying looped noise.
Your woodwork is incredible! The production value of your videos is through the roof! When changing a table saw blade gives you goosebumps... brilliant! Fantastic story telling! You’re a true craftsman in front and behind the camera. Very well done.
Very very well demonstrated. I’m not quite a beginner but have no fancy equipment. An ancient tablesaw with crummy fence, nice bandsaw with only a 6” opening, and no planer or jointer. I do a lot with hand tools. You gave me options. There are a lot of patterns that assume you have a planer and jointer: a barrier. [Pretty amused that my phone auto corrected planer to planet. I’m a rocket scientist 😂
Using this video, I was able to make some beautiful boxes as gifts for my grandchildren this year. Thank you so much for the plans ands the great assembly video. Also thanks for the tips on waxing the polyurethane. I never liked that plastic like feel. The paste wax really helps.
Those are gorgeous and seem simple enough for a beginner wood worker. I am excited to try these out. Thank you for the wonderful step by step tutorial and I loved the music.
This a beautiful box - think I will be doing a few of these for gifts this holiday season. I gotta say: your video quality is outstanding and the instructions are easy to understand and apply. Great job!
Blake, another masterpiece, my friend. I love the video, and I can tell you must be a great photographer and a master woodworker. Thanks so much for sharing, Blake. Felix
Hello Blake, Super video. Forgot to mention before, I think the production of the video is very slick. It’s so good you don’t even notice it. Also your choice of music, like everything you is top draw. Kindest regards Terry
This channel really is the gold standard in video production quality. Every time I see one of your videos it gives me something more to aspire to with my own. Keep up the great work. Your video quality is epic ...... and your wood work ain't bad either 😉👍👍
I randomly came across one of your videos and after watching it and a few more I must say, you sir are an artist. Not only with your woodworking, but also with your video editing. I'm just beginning to get into woodworking myself. I hope some day I can get this good.
I jealous!! I wish DeWalt still made table saws like that. Actually, that's awe you have it. I'm just being joking around and being silly. I do appreciate your time and effort that you put into posting these videos. I've been in construction work for most of my life. Switching over to wood working projects is a little different. I'm starting out as if I dont know a thing, and making a bunch of small boxes similar to yours..
7:39 - Figured out your grain direction. Duh! I'll be making some of these even though I usually do a bit more complex joinery on my boxen. Simple and elegant.
Beautiful. I love the choice to go with a contrasting handle on the walnut box while staying with the curly maple for the handle on the maple box. That may be due to you running out of walnut but I still really liked that detail! Just one thing I have to know - blade guards on your table saw, but fingertips right up to the router bit?? Be safe, dude!
These boxes look great; suck beautiful grain pattern in the woods. The design was simple, but elegant, and one I'll be using in my next box project. Thanks for sharing your ideas and obvious skills. Best wishes.
Just found this video, and have become an instant fan - what a fantastic video! Will look forward to binge-watching more of them (even the 'Standard Disclaimer' is creative =:-D )
Very simple project for new woodworkers and the wood grains really make something to be proud of and to display. One simple suggestion would be to make the handles concave like the inside of an ear lobe. I think the feel would add to the handles. Probably a detail sander and some patience.
Really nice video. Very impressed with the final product particularly hand shaping with a ROS. Can't figure out how you would make the box inside without a CNC. Bandsaw would leave a through cut. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I think your comment was meant for the Leaf Box video... Before I had a CNC I have done it with a router, and router template, or by drilling out the center with a large forstner bit and then a scroll saw, or you could even use hand tools. If you don't mind the seam you can even do it as a bandsawn box. Or you could train your pet termites and they could remove the desired material. Lots of options.
Came across this video. Great looking box. Nice pace. Well executed tutorial. I don’t know if you ever respond to comments. I have the same DeWalt table saw. I’m intrigued by the Incra fence. And I also made a similar box to yours in terms of construction. I was also trying to achieve what you showed us in this video. I will subscribe.
Superb video! Boxes of a simple design, yet executed with pure artistry! I will definitely have a go at the basic design, and fail miserably on the artistry piece 🙂. Thank you.
I love the boxes and definitely like the idea of using leather to line them instead of flocking which I typically use. May I ask where you buy the leather you used?
Awesome. You talk about cleats a lot especially on the shooting boards and stuff like that. Could you not do a cleat on top of the tool cabinet And then spacer and clear on the whiteboard so you could just pick the whiteboard up and hook it on the cleat on top of the workbench. Like where you clicked it but just up a few inches up on the top? Something like a French cleat set up I guess.

In addition to the valuable info about making boxes I thoroughly enjoyed your background music. Good jazz!
Skill is quite evident. The one word that comes to mind while watching your work is Elegant...
Best box-building video I have ever seen. Kept me watching the entire video (and that's rare)
“...however you want.” Love those words. Options are always there. The production quality is refreshing with fun background music. Great detail.
In addition to woodworking I also play the upright bass. I gotta say, the bass solo at 6:22 is SWEET!!
I always love the background music of your videos
Thanks for this very simple yet instructional video. We novices need more of this to support basic skills development.
Glad you liked it!
When you fired up the torch I about freaked. I thought you were going to go for the scorched look. Beautiful.
Me too. LOL
Thanks :)
Wonderful and wonderfully simple! Until I try this of course 😊! An expert makes things look easy. Great video. Thanks.

I so love your videos. the music, the filming and of course the projects. Well done indeed Sir. Nick from UK
So simple and elegant and eliminating the PIA hinges is awesome! Also, I love it that you have such great background music instead of the usual annoying looped noise.
Really nice to watch a glue-up that isn't "ALL-squeeze-out-ALL-the-time!!" Thanks for that.
And totally good choice of tunes.
Your woodwork is incredible! The production value of your videos is through the roof! When changing a table saw blade gives you goosebumps... brilliant! Fantastic story telling! You’re a true craftsman in front and behind the camera. Very well done.
Thank you so much!!!
I completely agree. This video had me hooked from beginning to end, and when you added the leather, that was it for me. Very well done
Outstanding video. Easy follow directions. I will try this out today
Súper cool editing, lighting , cinema tics...and great woodwork
There is true beauty in the simplicity of those boxes! Extremely well done. Thanks for sharing your passion!
Thank you!

Great idea using a drill bit as a spacer. Never would have thought of doing that, but will be using that idea going forward.
Using this video, I was able to make some beautiful boxes as gifts for my grandchildren this year. Thank you so much for the plans ands the great assembly video. Also thanks for the tips on waxing the polyurethane. I never liked that plastic like feel. The paste wax really helps.
Thank you! Glad you could use some of the tips!
I love your music selection.
Those are gorgeous and seem simple enough for a beginner wood worker. I am excited to try these out. Thank you for the wonderful step by step tutorial and I loved the music.
Thanks!
THANK YOU for the classy beautiful music and laid back tempo of the vid. Like the leather idea. Is it shiny side down?
Thanks! Yes, shiny down, suede up.
Great boxes! Router table was a little to close quarters for me. Like like the project
This a beautiful box - think I will be doing a few of these for gifts this holiday season. I gotta say: your video quality is outstanding and the instructions are easy to understand and apply. Great job!
You got my subscription. Master wood worker, teacher, and content creator. Now I need to go check out your other videos! Work can wait...
Thank you!
Great tip with the drill bit to add a tolerance. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Superb video skills. And the boxes are beautiful.
Blake, another masterpiece, my friend. I love the video, and I can tell you must be a great photographer and a master woodworker.
Thanks so much for sharing, Blake. Felix
Thank you!
What a great job! Many greatings from South West Germany from a small Village called St. Nikolaus, near the border to France.
Thank you!
Hello Blake,

Thank you!
Real nice! Simple sometimes is best!
I really like that little foam sanding pad with the hand loop on it. as a guy who builds guitars that would REALLY come in handy.
This channel really is the gold standard in video production quality. Every time I see one of your videos it gives me something more to aspire to with my own. Keep up the great work. Your video quality is epic ...... and your wood work ain't bad either 😉👍👍

A great presentation of the basics....you have taken to a new standard,,,AWESOME ! I am now a subscriber. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Your videos were always awesome, but the music, filming, and editing are awesome to the max!
Thank you!

Excellent your work and very detailed in the execution of it. Congratulations

I'm starting out as if I dont know a thing, and making a bunch of small boxes similar to yours..
The real leather is a very nice touch. I’m of the same mind myself. I don’t know why more people don’t go to this length. 👍
Those are so gorgeous!!

Good video till the end . Box bonding , love , marriage c'mon now !
Muy muy hermosos...de lujos tus trabajos amigo
So lovely and simple, coiled try those! Love the leather
Simple box, I like it. Do you have any plans that I can print out with dimensions.
the woods are wonderful and the project came out great!
Thank you!
Is there a simpler way to cut the ridges. I don't have a table saw like that. Any manual tools that would do it?
What a unique idea to join the sides. Thanks
Just setup a little shop, gonna make these for Xmas gifts.
Awesome!
Hoping for a new Weber Woodshop video soon! 🙏🙏🙏
Great video and great work also. Music is nice too.😃
Just found this video, and have become an instant fan - what a fantastic video! Will look forward to binge-watching more of them (even the 'Standard Disclaimer' is creative =:-D )
When folks don’t like it I’d love to know why. Goodness this was a good one.
Thanks!
Really enjoyed this simple but totally wonderful design and build👍🏻
Thank you!
Love it! we need one more project like mountainscape cabinet.. 🤗
Thank you! I'm about to do more like it!
Really very nice. Lovely.

Thanks for all the clear explanation
very very nice. I especially like the finish trick....
Thank you!
Love the simplicity of the design! That Claro is stunning!
Thank you!
Love to see that grain pop! So satisfyinggg
Thanks!

Thanks Morgan!
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Where did you get that sanding pad? Can't seem to find anything like that
Great boxes and terrific video. Thanks for putting it all together.
Thank you!
Great video and process! That's interesting that you put the "flesh" side of the leather out, rather than the finished side.
It’s softer and I like it for jewelry boxes. Thanks!
(
Superb video! Boxes of a simple design, yet executed with pure artistry! I will definitely have a go at the basic design, and fail miserably on the artistry piece 🙂. Thank you.
New to your channel... your Intro, your, work, your sound design 🧡🔥
Great simple project
Thanks!
Nice boxes turned out great. I like the simple design I’ll have to give it a go
Thanks!
Very nice thanks for sharing.
Awesome dude very good work
Thank you!
LO FELICITO EXCELENTE OBRA DE ARTE,SALUDOS DESDE HUALQUI REGION BIO BIO CHILE
These look like they would be fun to make. Personally, I would use some dowels of some sort for the sides. That's just me though.
Hyy friend 🤝🙏
This video reminded me of Clickspring, I'm assuming you're a fan of his as well with that end 😉
I love the boxes and definitely like the idea of using leather to line them instead of flocking which I typically use. May I ask where you buy the leather you used?
Thanks! I bought the leather at a local leather shop in Santa Cruz.
Lovely wood choices. Complex cuts & resaws, but by any chance was there fully wrapped grain pattern on the walnut?
Yes
Inspiring, was troubled with what I was going to do with that bit of maple I had lying around. Hopefully my Swiss Army knife is not rusted up.
Thank you!
For the reason of expanding and contracting of the solid wood due to moisture, why do you glue the bottom on four sides into its groove?
It’s so small it won’t matter. It barely moves on that scale.
The boards get wider--in this case, taller and shorter--not longer. The bottom isn't going to move at all, because it's plywood. So, there's no issue.
I love this simple boxes. Thank you for sharing this video. :)
Thank you!
Really nice project!😁🛫
Thanks! 👍
Leather liner is a nice touch. Have you ever used paper ? I am experimenting with rice paper for a Asian inspired box.
Thanks! I haven't used paper but its another good option.
Thank you
Bellissimo lavoro, complimenti!!! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thank you!
Love this! Well done and thanks
Thank you!
Wrong guy. I don't use French cleats OR a shooting board.
Man these are beautiful. What is the finish wall thickness? looks to be around 1/4-3/8. Thanks for the videos and inspiration man
Beautiful.
Thank you!
