      That's one thing I've always liked about the Equalizer movies (and yes, a lot of Denzel movies), our protagonist isn't just some cardboard cutout of a mysterious badass, he's skilled with both his guns and his words so, like here, he'll roast you in front of the boys before sitting your ass down the hard way AND he'll give your mom a call afterwards to celebrate kicking your ass

    "Let's find out together" is such a beautiful statement, and it puts that perfect pressure to say "don't disappoint me" in a positive way.

    • @RazielTheUnborn
      @RazielTheUnborn Рік тому +11

      I don't think it was a, "Do not disappoint me" context, though there is a degree of wanting to have pride in this young man using the chance he has in life than to be gutter trash.
      The young man sees no value or worth in his life. No way out of a bad situation without taking even worse actions to survive. "Why me?" Is answered immediately by the, "Why not you?" With zero hesitation. Why not you? What is it about you that makes you unworthy of a shot at a better life? You have talent. You have a dream. You have a chance. Why not you? The young man is taken aback by the rebuttal because for the first time he has someone saying he is worthy of better, why shouldn't he be, and yet it has never been a thought in his mind so he can do nothing more than repeat the question. Instead of giving him a direct answer, Mr McCall offers to find out together, to help him along a path the kid never thought available to him.

      @@tieflingcorpse9817 Tell me you're American/woke without telling me lmao. We're not talking about individual cases you can look up behind your desk like the internet warrior that you are, by and large a lot of western countries don't give as much of a shit about race as Americans do in this day and age. And even when they do, its not "white supremacy", that's mostly an American thing which in current day and age is being used by woke lefties to justify racism against white people themselves, people just call it racism because the non morons under us understand that you don't need to be white to be a racist pos like you.
      Next time when you try to address racism in countries you have no clue of, try not to point fingers at a specific race under the guise of an extremely small far right group and attempt to brainwash people thinking that they are the only problem in the whole spectrum completely ignoring the fact you're justifying racism yourself by doing that. People outside of America aren't that stupid to buy into it. No, in many western countries it wasn't a thing and hasn't been a thing for over 50 years.

What did I do to deserve this persons help or love?" Maybe I need to start asking why not me. Maybe we all need to start asking ourselves that. Why not you? You've got air in your lungs, that's why. That shit hits hard. It's so easy to feel like your future is inescapable, and that's the shit that sucks. It IS easy to feel that way. It's easy to tell yourself this shit sucks and you're gonna do anything you can to win, but at the end of the day or maybe your life, you'll have to look inside and you'll see that even if you have to fight to live and work 3 jobs to provide for the ones you love, that's a million times better than taking that easy route. Because that easy route sees you all alone and barely human, when you can give your future your all and have to bust your ass because every moment you avoided that lonely existence is a win forever.

    After watching the first film, i couldn't help but compare Washington's character to Batman (save the obvious differences)
    Always keeps his cool. Always a step ahead. Always fights for justice.
    A true dark knight ...in every sense of the word.
    After watching this scene, and definitely after seeing the end of the film, the idea was further cemented with the birth of the another in my mind: that this kid could potentially become a "Robin" to McCall's "Batman"
    I highly doubt that's the direction that this franchise is going to go with this character, IF they decide to go anywhere at all with him
    ...BUT GODDAMN IT I'd be lying if i said I didn't kinda want that to happen with this kid's character.
    "Yeah, I can draw. Draw my G-U-N!"

    Fun fact: It’s a Colt 1911 - this gun is single action only. And it’s decocked the whole time. As long as the hammer is not cocked, there is no danger at all from this weapon, no matter how many pounds of pressure this guy exerts on the trigger…

      @MRNOSENSE Рік тому +20

      @@michaelambrosano938 it kinda does matter, it shows that Denzel wasn't going into this unprepared, whilst he know he can turn the kid around, he maintained gun safety such that neither he nor the kid would actually shoot each other

    • @time2rowco999
      @time2rowco999 Рік тому +2

      The 1911 is single action however that means it would have fired if there was a round chambered. Double action is when the hammer must be cocked. Not trying to be pedantic but......

    • @tiltil9442
      @tiltil9442 Рік тому

      That line of fire through his own elbow isn't really recommendable with any hammer position - so much for gUn sAfEtY...

    • @johnwells8270
      @johnwells8270 Рік тому

      @time2rowco999 you got it backwards. A single action like a 1911 needs the hammer cocked because the trigger performs one action, dropping the hammer. A double action like an m9 beretta is double action or single action because the trigger will cock and drop the hammer which is your double action after which unless you de-cock the hammer it will act like a single action

    I love this. He knew he can’t force someone to do the right thing but you can scare them/ and show them you care for them to persuade them to make the right choice. The choice has to be his. It’s crazy how many men don’t mature and blame others for their failures. Everyone has the freedom and choices to be successful. Those who blame the system and racism is all an excuse.
