Nice one, ofc never seen Wolverton like that before, quite a larger site than i thought really. Crazy to think Thameslink and 321's are off to the darkside already, 319's took over the EPB's where i lived, back in '88.
Enjoyable presentation. Did not know the works were so extensive. Impressed with the solar panels on the Tesco store. So many derelict buildings also noted.
What a fantastic view, one of the first I've seen on UA-cam covering rail sites.Look forward to more.Out of interest what are the dozen or so blue shunt locomotives on site, are they being produced there ?
Thank you. I have many more planned for the summer. The shunters are class 18, built in the UK by Clayton but not at Wolverton. They're Hybrid diesel/battery shunters. Only one is in use at the moment, 18001 on hire to GBRf at whitemooor yard, March
@@miniature-airlines I have checked and apparently they were a 'speculative build' with no orders when they started their construction. It seems they haven't sold any then.
@@miniature-airlines I went there a while ago, this year and had an explore around the outside of Wolverton works and at the end by Mcdonalds and the Tesco petrol station they have kept the train sheds, but have done a small amount of demolition but on the whole kept most of the buildings, and have actually built homes and some cafes inside the works buildings. In one of the sheds you have actually got to go inside the shed to go through the front door of the home, the home is like being in its own cocoon.
Present owners want to demolish old work sheds and build housing but council has refused planning as the only way into site is to cross the lines in the works, so instead of doing up the old bits, which are said to be in good condition except for roofs, they have left the to rot.
It's disgusting to see how industrial land alongside railways is left neglected, when so many green field sites are being put under new industrial units and housing. This country will never again stand any chance of food self-sufficiency if such a wasteful attitude continues. The Tory party "National Forest" in the East Midlands is a total joke and it now mainly comprises of warehousing!
They made the old carriage shed into posh flats so could potentially do the same with the old works buildings if there was access to them from outside 🤔
You could get a lot of invaders on that site. GOV U.K. PARLIAMENT is a horror story,🤡funny buying abroad when we virtually started the Industrial Revolution. GOV U.K. cause a lot of mental anguish to real BRITS, too much to take! 😡🇬🇧😡
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing with us.
No problem. Thanks for watching 👀

Yes its a huge site. One of the 319s is a flex class 769 now so they made be there for conversion
Done my apprenticeship there .Starting in 1981 and left in 1987.......wonderful times😊

Thanks 👍. It's a lot bigger than it seems although so much is now derelict

Even the new Shunter locos… are left out in the open .. seems plenty of covered areas
Terrible really that they can't store them inside
Nice video. Where are the best places to see the trains without a drone?
You can see a bit from the supermarket car park. Not sure if it's tesco or lidl, but that's about it
What are all those new Battery Hybrid Shunters (Class 18) doing there ?
I'm guessing they're stored awaiting use as they look brand new

Found them in the latest spotting book. Apparently there's one working at Whitemoor Yard, March
@@miniature-airlinesNot anymore. It’s gone and good riddance.
@@22pcirish where's it gone?
Anh chance doing the new depot at Ipswich? freightliner.
On my list 👍
Is the old football stand still there?
No, the train shed is now designer housing and the football ground I believe is a garden with a lake
😊football stand is still there in the park.

Looks a bit run down
Just a bit , yes . Most of it is derelict
