Wolverton Train Works - Abandoned, derelict and still in service!

A drone flight over the abandoned and sadly derelict site in Wolverton, Buckinghamshire. Whilst some of the site is still in operation, the Grade 2 listed section is now derelict.

If these train works were so pivotal to the history of wolverton and Milton Keynes you’d think they’d be repaired so they look more like the other buildings around them. I love in Milton Keynes

the royal train is stored there and the works are still going strong on rebuilds and new battery locos

I started there in the training school '78.At that time 5000 employees on site.The whole site was in active use.Very dissapointing to witness its decline into disrepair and disuse.Coachpainter/French polisher/ signwriter.Priviledged to have worked in both Royal train sheds on the vehicle exteriors on a number of occasions.Still working on site there for the past 46 years.

Apprenticed trained as a Metal Machinist in the Training School behind Glynn Square, worked there between Aug '76 & '84. The machine shop; in the Arcade, was where Tesco's is located now. Employed about 2,000 people back then.

My brother worked in the paint shop painting coach's and agood friend of ours used to book the trains in and out ot the yard his name was Brien smith unfortunately hes past on, before he moved to Wolverton he was a signal man at Clapham junction,

Did he start in the late 70s? (78)I think there was a vehicle builder apprentice in my year called Andy Keach,(he was an avid punk rock fan)
