This Growing series is so sick lads, spent all morning watching through them. So good seeing a fellow Irish man killing it while painting a great picture for Irish surfing. Watching from Victoria Australia, having just finished a month at a surf academy, it's got me horned to get back home and explore the west coast. Class seeing you having a good stab at the farming game too man, being a young farmer from the Co Down coast it's cool to see. Great viewing all round bais!

Wow, I just found this. Great stuff! Fantastic really. I was lucky enough to ride a similar type of wooden board while in Sweden, a "Hollow Frame" quad hand built in southern Sweden. It was a treat to ride and worked really well. Anyway, I will follow this for sure.

You said it doesn't need fiberglass when the wood is strong enough. So what do you use? Just epoxy resin?

was that a plug to let the water out like the old balsa boards? I love surfing boards with some weight behind them I should really get a wooden board, would last me forever...

Sort of, it's an air equalizer. External temperature fluctuation will cause pressure changes inside the hollow board. When you loosten the screw, air will either rush out or rush in to equalize the air pressure. I guess it could be used to drain water, but there shouldn't be any reason for water to be inside.

How heavy would a board about 6'3" end up being?

I think these wooden surfboards are beautiful, but I'd never ride it because I'd be too afraid to ding it!
